I'm not a fan of this new-age generation of sad people.
Brad told us last night that it is predicted in about 2020, there will be a phenomenon of world-wide depression, because of this conspicuous consumption era and ridiculous increase in materialism that has led us all to be mass consumers, buying things for the sake of buying, building up more and more mortal treasures which will expire and ultimately do you little good. Ultimately, we've lost sight of who we originally were, what we originally would strive to achieve, the lifestyles we wanted to lead. Now, we focus more on the tangible than the intangible. What kind of grandparents will we be, when now we look at our grandparents who espouse wisdom and practicality, and this generation will be self-focussed, self-obsessed unwise individuals who couldn't for the life of them understand how to put others first and slap on a happy face in order to bring happiness to those around them?
It worried me last night when I saw people showing up tipsy to a place where God is meant to the be focus, and to be honest, he doesn't need the distortion of alcohol to be appealing. If we, as a generation, can't learn from the unconditional love shown to us by our parents and grandparents, and by God, we've created a serious problem for the future. And really, making public your 'sadness' and your 'depression' just creates an identity you don't want. And eventually, one day, you'll look at yourself and realize all the happy things you passed up for the attention of being 'sad'.
We need to grow up a lot before we earn a right to say we are the future and we can change the world for the better. Right now, all we are is the future who are seriously jeopardizing the future psychological state of people.
