whatever!

Okay, having just come across some opinions of religion, I am getting INCREDIBLY frustrated. People seem to think they can just judge religion because of all the bad things that happen, because they think religion is all about living happily ever after in your own little bubble of perfection and never ever ever suffering, and doing everything perfectly - like religion is going to fix every problem and every issue you have, and if it doesn't, then it doesn't work.

Let me tell you - IT WON'T WORK LIKE THAT EVER!
And if you think it will, you're sorely mistaken. Sorry. That's the problem with religion - and funny how religion is only pertaining to Christianity, however if your religion is Buddhism, then it's all okay!

Lets go through Buddhism: If you are to move up spiritual planes in Buddhism, you must deny yourself of every material pleasure, in fact almost all pleasure, and become 'perfect'. Only when you are one hundred per cent perfect can you reach the nirvana or whatever, and come back to life as something. And you know that every single little thing that happens to you is a result of your own fault? So if you fail a test - your fault. If you were dumped as a kid - your fault. If you lose your phone - your fault. If your parents divorce - your fault. Nice and hopeful, huh? Great thing to worship, having to be perfect and do best in life. Good luck with it. And Buddha? You can go visit his grave. Go on. You can see it right there in front of you, if you go. No doubt about it - Buddha died. And he sure didn't come back. What about Mohammed? He didn't exactly come back either. You can go and visit his grave too. So a great saviour huh? Did either of those guys come BACK to life? They found their bodies.

They never found Jesus' body. You think that wouldn't have rocked Christianity and created an entirely different belief in Christianity today? Sure, people voted on what would make up the Bible. But what about the Koran - world changing stuff? Hardly - it was written a fair few years after the Bible, and there are a LOT of commonalities between them. And why? Cos Jesus had already rocked the world. People were and are just too scared to be led by the guy who died and CAME BACK TO LIFE, in a time where medicine was practically non-existent.

And why do bad things happen? You all know the story of Adam and Eve. They sinned. They were tempted and they sinned - they disobeyed God. So the second Eve took that bite of the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge - sin entered the world. And the POINT of sin is that it isn't fair - why do you think the Devil uses it? Cos he WANTS to mess with your lives, and make sure you don't get eternal life, to try to pay God back for being a zillion times more powerful than him. And you know why the Devil making you sin will pay God back? Cos GOD LOVES YOU. HE LOVES YOU SO MUCH HE LET HIS OWN SON DIE. So that little you, who sits up the back being emo about life, which is all of us, can get to spend eternity with God, living it up and being able to be perfect, cos we are with God. But like Jesus said, 'The only way to the Father is through me.' So you wanna go to heaven and be perfect? You gotta lay down your life for Jesus, just like he laid down his life for you. And that's HARD. And you know what else? It isn't about 'religion'. It's all about relationships. A strong, beautiful relationship between you and Jesus, and you and God, cos God doesn't care if you don't follow every rule, if you don't do every step of Communion, or whatever, because as long as you obey what HE is telling you, and you just love him with everything you have - including your money, your time, and all that - then God's happy with you. And then you can go to heaven.

And sure - some people won't make it. Some won't commit their lives, cos they're scared. They're scared of the sacrifice, and you know what? God even says in the Bible he doesn't want half hearted commitments. He wants a full on, strong passionate relationship with you, cos he cant stand any less. So it's HARD. It takes sacrifice. It means that sometimes you gotta do stuff you don't wanna do. But the fact is - you have a choice. And if you don't want eternal life - okay. That's your choice, and the beauty of God is, he loves you regardless. However, if you decide you don't want God - if everything I've been saying is true - you won't get to go to heaven. You're not going to that eternal party - cos you decided you didn't want to. And God GAVE us that choice, cos who wants forced love? The best kinda love is the one that's given of that person's free will. And that's what God desires.

So guys - don't judge religion before you know enough to be able to make an opinion. And even then - you'll never know the whole story. That's impossible. It's about faith. It's about trust. Ask away if you wanna know anything else - I'll try to answer.

New Age Religions:

* Skankism: the religion where one worships the supershort skirt and mini shorts, and the massively huge sunnies - the size of your sunnies and the length of your skirt have to be equal. If the sunnies are bigger than the skirt, that's ok. If the skirt is bigger than the sunnies, then you are committing a religious scandal and will be excommunicated.

* Emoism: the religion where one worships the bleak, dark wall of depression. Religious customs include sitting in a dark corner, often having thoughts of death and sharp razors, wearing incredibly dark eyeline that reaches from the line of your eye to halfway down your face, ensuring you have red patches in your dyed-black hair and living only to wear something with checks. To wear a colour other than black, red or white offends depression even further, causing it to become more depressed, causing the fool to wear such an offensive colour to kill themselves, after writing a depressing poem. If you want to speak to a follower of Emoism, you must not laugh, smile, giggle, wear colour or do any act which may be interpreted as expressing happiness.

* My-dadism: this is a very exclusive religion, reserved only for the few who a) have dad's WORTH boasting about or b) are good at making UP dad's worth boasting about. As a very select part of society, faithful followers of this religion will raise their hand at any time in life to interject a fantastic point of view, ALWAYS beginning with 'My dad...' It is rare this point of view will ever be valid, or of interest, or even relevent to the topic discussed, but the faithful follower of this religion won't mind. There is no point trying to stop this religion from running its course - the members will only contradict your complains with a statement of 'My dad...'

* Did-you-knowism: also a very exclusive religion - you're only able to be a part of this religion if you a) believe you know everything or b) actually do know everything. So you can see that majority of members are a part of the first segment. Members of this religion tend to start every third sentence with 'Did you know' and when a question is directed at a completely different person, will answer immediately, filling their answer with as many lengthy words and pointless syllables as possible. NEVER ask a question within a ten metre radius of members of this religion, as you will no doubt be forced to eventually listen to ten minutes of linked 'did you know' quotations and eventually get an answer to the meaning of life, instead of 'What time was I supposed to turn off the bomb in the escalator?'

* Footballism: Passionate followers of footballism will only remember there is life other than statistics and football ladders during the off-season. And even then, that time is dedicated to ensuring all important information is firmly fastened within their brain, to hold six hour conversations on the topic. True members of this religion are able to recite every football player in every club since its humble beginnings as the VFL and can tell you who kicked what goal in what second of each game - including ad breaks. Whilst generally accepted by the wider public as fountains of knowledge during game season, these members of society are generally shunned during the off season. Unless your name is Eddie Maguire - then you are shunned for all of eternity.

* Ditzism: This religion is difficult to define, and even harder to follow consistently, however many find it their religion of choice when in the companionship of males. A religion reserved for the female population, favourite catchphrases and beginnings of prayer to ditziness generally begin with 'OH my gosh, you would NOT believe...' and copious amounts of giggling, along with exchange of meaningless gossip. Many members of ditzism also often revert to becoming completely helpless at everyday actions, requiring the help of the opposite sex to help them with such tasks as telling the time and spelling 'cat'. As this religion tends to be an easily adapted and then thrown away one, it is hard to determine if you are a true follower. Although - most of the time, if you are, you're too ditzed out to notice.

* Boxershorterism: A religion only for the guys. The religion where one pays respect to their beliefs by ensuring their boxers reach their waist and their shorts reach their knees. Boxers should be one colour, or have offensive/hilarious slogans on them. This religion has been sweeping the world, with many males showing their respect. However, the spread of this religion has also lead to a higher percentage of wedgies and dacks per capita.

Gone! Like yesterday is gone!

Finally! It's the end of the worst week in history!

So now I can look forward to a busy, money filled weekend, and hopefully an exceptionally bubbly week next week.

My weekend:

* Youth Group - Going to Cott beach
* Work - working ten and a half hours this week, and it looks like I've had a pay increase. For all I know, it might be a mistake, but I got $1.50 per hour more than usual...yay! Even if the pay increase doesn't apply, at least I get to eat good food
* Babysitting - I've missed my gurls! They're so cute

Huge apologies to everyone who has had to put up with my crap mood this week - it was stupid and selfish of me, and I promise from now on I'll be there for the people I've been distant with who've needed to talk. Much love to you :)

I miss so many people :(

e-mails

Generally I love e-mails. Real ones, not forwards.

But right now, I absolutely hate them.

Tuesday, February 21, 2006

so hot right now

School is such an effort. Not the work part - no actually I take that back completely, the work part is quite an effort, but that's an expected effort. The people part is an effort - trying to keep up with what everyone is doing, thinking, talking to, where they SIT... I get a little bit lost. Actually, I get totally lost.

I think it's a matter of trying too hard. Or maybe not trying hard enough. I don't know - like maybe it would all be okay if I would just try be the same as the other people - if I was involved in the same things, or had the same opinions, or I don't know...if something was the same.

I really miss everything being relaxed!!! Life was so much easier!!!!

I've also found I've been so mean lately, which makes me feel really really bad. But it's like I can't help it! I think it's the weather. Easiest to blame stuff on the weather!

Well, at least Group Dance auditions are tomorrow, that'll be fun. I'm stoked :) Dancing is good. One day I'll get around to taking up lessons again - when I have time. Maybe next year I'll quit my job and do one dance class a weekend. Whee! Fitness also rocked superbly - got to punch the Luke guy who is kind of scary, hehehe, and skip. Skip skip skip.

English oral is glaring at me. I should really go pay some attention to it.

killing time - actually more like wasting

Well, surprise surprise, I'm avoiding my homework. Again.

House Choirs = the worst thing in existence. Next year, if we are as bad as those officials - I shall kill myself. 'De Grey! Shout! We can't hear you! Guys - stop shouting, you need to sing. Come on guys! Shout!'

ARGH!!!

I'm just incredibly glad I'm not saxophone-ing it tonight, I think I would honestly fail the I.C. test tomorrow. In fact, I don't think I'm going to do well on it anyway. I always forget everything in a test situation, and so far, I've done spectacularly crap on the tests we've gotten back. I'm very frustrated. And as horrible as it sounds, but I need to be honest, people who I know I can do much better than, are doing better than me. *sigh* I need to focus.

Well for a start, MSN is going - and I'm actually serious! No MSN during the week. It's not that hard either. It'll be like giving up chocolate, only I still get to have active tastebuds - unlike SOME people :)

Major load of shifts over the next couple of weekends - plus babysitting. And saxophone lessons and practice, and Concert Band and Saintly Jazz and youth group and church. And debating and netball start soon too. Oh and Mock Trials...hmmm....

I am seriously considering a tutor, and I ran the idea past mum, and she was like 'No. There's a tutoring centre at school.' So maybe I should try that, and if I don't like it - cos it basically seems to me you're getting the same person to describe to you the stuff you didn't get when they explained it in the first place - they'll consider a Chem, History and I.C. tutor.

Okay - off to do the OTHER homework, then finish my oral, then start on I.C. I'm determined to do better than so far.

future

I know what I need to do.

This is good!

Problem is, how to do it. Time, money, more time, more money.

Letting the person who told me actually do it.

It's cool. Hard. But cool.
Sultanas are disgusting.

Introductory Calculus assignments are also disgusting.

Well, Amy was in a crap mood at work today - first she was completely nervous cos she was going on a date with the guy she's going to the ball with. To the point of feeling sick. And the girl she worked with before me, Olivia, didn't do ANY of the cleaning, so guess who was stuck doing it? Yep - me!!!! But at least it got done - but it took me all day. I literally did not relax one second today. When I wasn't cleaning, I did all the serving, while Amy just put all the production sheets back in order. Which took her all day. So then after I cleaned, I had to condense EVERYTHING and apparently, I did it wrong. Well THANKS for telling me. She also told me off for not sweeping properly - AFTER I'd swept the whole place, then she decided to drop three rolls on the floor. Brilliant. I also did ALL the mopping for the entire DAY. But then...Amy gets ditched cos the guy was an idiot last night and his parents have him grounded. So she's in a CRAPPER mood, and so I have to deal with all the stupid people who try to push their way through the closed doors into the OBVIOUSLY empty shop. What a fantastic day. All of that squashed into four hours.

I love working.

Things that really really get to me:

~ People who don't notice little change
~ Burps. Fake, real, short, long, hidden or openly exposed - I hate them all. Do NOT burp around me or I will rip into you. Just ask my brother
~ Wasted days. Today = completely, irrevocably wasted
~ Boats. Never, ever, ever, EVER again. Until next year.
~ Betrayed friendships. Just lame.
~ Intro Calc assignments. Very self explanatory
~ Half-zipped pencil cases
~ Eyes
~ Rudeness in any form
~ Double standards
~ Cancer and operations
~ Fear <-- just my own
~ People using people
~ Unopenmindedness (what a word)
~ Quitting, or not holding to your commitments
~ Waiting twelve bazillion days to get paid
~ World tragedies that get ignored for superfluous issues
~ Not understanding

graph paper dilemma fixed!

Our newsagent guy rocks. Thankyou for having graph paper.

Still one problem though - I can't do the assignment *sigh* It's too hard. I should swap to Foundies.

Youth was cool - I met two new people - Aileish (sp?) and Chris <- he is a leader. And we were put in our clarity groups which we are STUCK WITH FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR. Nah I'm kidding, my clarity group rocks - Lauren, Kate, Caitlin, Harbour, Shell, Emma, Sarah, myself...I think I'm forgetting someone, but I can't think who. Anyway, our leader is HATTTTTIIIII which is always awesome, cos Hatti is always awesome!

Supposed to be homeworking it, but I half did my oral, so I'm kind of doing okay. And I need to do my history notes. Off to Rotto in..one hour. And I found a friend (don't ask how much I'm paying her) so things are all good, we'll go and be bored on shore for a while until they finally swim in! Go daddy :) And team of Lewis, John and Brian. Yay!

The winner should be getting in soon...what a freak too- swimming all the way to Rottnest (22ks!) in around fourish hours. *shakes head*

graph paper

This Intro Calc assignment, while a little bit challenging, looks doable. Except for the fact I HAVE NO GRAPH PAPER.

IDIOT.

So I'll have to cram doing it in on Sunday.

And now the only other girl coming to Rotto is pulling out, and everyone is busy tomorrow, so I'll just have to go and sit by myself and be a loner. Yay!!!!

Pop's doing okay. I hate seeing him cos he looks so frail, and I hate not seeing him cos I feel so guilty.

Youth again tonight. We get the Gig room - see how that goes. At least we get cool couches.

Okay, Lit Oral to prepare - talk about last minute, its next Wednesday!!

I need sleep, but I need food more.

*emo fringe action* <-- hehehhee

ch.ch.ch.ch.changes...

Well the year sevens were given a friendly talking to by the dear Mrs Stanley and life on the bus is good. *smiles all round*

P&L is THE slackest subject in the universe

Change is kind of freaky on the bit BEFORE the change happens, but after it happens, it's normally pretty cool. There are exceptions, but we can ignore them for now

Old music is cooler than most new music

snake days and bus seats

Okay.

Today was the best and worst snake day ever.

Let's go through in chronological order.

* Snakes come on bus unharmed. Nice work, Catty :)
* School is good - essay moved back a week, given three more essays, but it is OKAY, because we can all deal with that
* House choirs band meeting and I get to play the xylophone - Brilliant :)
* Finish the day with Chemistry - so that's alright, just revising for the test.
* Go to the bus. Everything is fine, if not a little bit cold. And wet. Anyway, everything is fine. We get on the bus. (this is where things start to go wrong). The YEAR SEVENS TAKE OUR BUS SEATS. *grumble grumble poke*
* Walk home and get mad at them lots out loud
* Get home, practice solo dance, which is getting crapper by the day
* Decide we won't do anything between now and going to Garbos, so just catch the bus
* Still feel as if Snake Day has been completely violated by two year sevens.
* Catty buys and eats two pasties. *gasp*
* I eat a muffin *yum*
* We go to our movie. All alone and funness. Get to talk loudly
* People come into our movie. *gasp again*
* Watch movie. Classic lines such as: 'You don't deserve to have a penis!'
* Get picked up and go home - reliving the experience of the bus
* Catty leaves *waves goodbye*
* Get best dinner in the entire universe *all thanks to pop*

Now have homework to do. Let's hope the bad stars never happen again.

Signing off!

pfft...valentines

Okay today started off crap and got okay. To skip the worst, I'll go through school...

* Medals and badges *cringe* shaaaame
* First ever Valentine received - from my maths teacher
* History test...*failed*
* Tennis - Won Around the World! Get a can of Coke from the Tennisman next week *thumbsup*
* Editing at lunchtime - started importing, was fun but made mean comment *sigh* *must learn to keep mouth shut*
* Lit - teacher actually starting to make us WORK. However, agreed to swap oral to do next week...along with the four billion other things I have to do next week.
* Media - slacked off. As per usual. Read my short essay story though, it'll be good.
* Get home and go online to check e-mail and Laura is on! First time I've spoken to her in aaaages

Am now incredibly exhausted and hot...but I'm determined to do half of my maths assignment, annotate my essay story, plan my oral and write up my last few chem notes.

Oh and yeah...Happy Valentine's Day everyone *rolls eyes*

freakishly emo update...sorry guys

So I'm thinking there's something wrong with me.

It used to be infrequent, but now lately I've found that three times in the last week, and two times today, I've been getting shaky and woozy, and on Thursday last week even teary, and needing to eat something before I feel like I'm going to pass out. And it can't be a good thing. And I get home and bawl my eyes out. I'm one messed up person at the moment.

*sigh*

You Are Miss Piggy

A total princess and diva, you're totally in charge - even if people don't know it.
You want to be loved, adored, and worshiped. And you won't settle for anything less.

Sometimes, though, you dream about living a wild secret life!

You will be remembered for: your good cooking and evading the police

Your life philosophy: "You should listen to your heart, and not the voices in your head."

lyricerise

Live for today, we'll dream tomorrow.
We've got big plans in site.
We'll take this city, and by nightfall
the bright lights are calling.
Everything is going our way,
everything is just as we planned.
This is our future for what we've heard,
and its still got your hand.

And it feels like, we could last forever,
and im not doing this alone.

When memories fade, we've got eachother,
when time and confusion collide, singing
"I hold it all when I hold you." When friends
walk other ways, we've got eachother.
"I hold it all when I hold, I hold it all when I hold you."

We've fell on hard times. This isn't the ideal,
we're miles from home doing the best that we can
(the best that we can). I wont do this without you
(do this without you), wont do this without you so
take heart. Cause you know that you have mine.

And it feels like, we could last forever, and im not doing this alone.

When memories fade, we've got eachother,
when time and confusion collide, singing
"I hold it all when I hold you." When friends
walk other ways, we've got eachother.
"I hold it all when I hold, I hold it all when I hold..."

It's not about the money we make(the money we make),
it's about the passions that we ache for. What makes
your heart beat faster? Tell me now, what does your
body long after? I don't care now where we live. It's
not where, or what, or who we were with. I just need
you in my life, so promise me again.

When memories fade, we've got eachother,
when time and confusion collide, singing
"I hold it all when I hold you." When friends
walk other ways, we've got eachother.
"I hold it all when I hold, I hold it all when I hold you."

Time and Confusion // Anberlin

Clothes aren't what they used to be
They don't seem to fit you and me, anymore
Modesty is out the door
Flaunting what we've got and more is in
Yeah, it's in

They're sayin'
"Don't ask why, just wear what we say
You'll look like a model if you'll only obey
To get the attention, just do what we say"

Pay so much for clothes so small
Was this shirt made for me or my doll?
Is this all I get?
I looked so hot but caught a cold
I was doing just what I was told
To fit in

Chorus

We're sayin'
"Let's ask why, don't wear what they say
Don't want to be a model; they can't eat anyway
That kind of attention will fade with the day
So, I'll stand up and say. . .

Clothes that fit are fine
Won't show what's mine
Don't change my mind
I'll be fine

and as a side note...

for all of you (such as me) who didn't know...

Barbie and Ken had broken up.

HOWEVER

they are now back together

got candy in my heels tonight baby...

Speaking to a lot of people about year eleven kind of gave the impression that all the groupiness and cliqueness and besty friendyness kind of disappeared. I'll have to say for all future year elevens...that in the first two weeks, that's not true. In fact - I think it actually gets worse.

But who knows? Maybe after the whole settling in and the first few tests, everything will go back to normal.

SCARED SCARED SCARED of Solo Dance. I've choreographed two choruses and a verse (hopefully I won't get penalised for using the same chorus....or half a chorus anyway) and it is all CRAP CRAP CRAP. If I wasn't so terrified, I'd show someone before the audition. But I don't know, dancing by myself if I'm not performing feels so FAKE. Well...I suppose I'll have to learn if I get it.

The funny thing is...it's starting to feel like I'm the only person considering doing it. But Emma Woods - there's no doubt she won't try out, and Ash Thomson? She'll probably just put herself through. Grrrrrrrrr...why am I wasting my time??!!!!!!

First Gig tonight....hooray. Actually it'll be alright, Nitro Nites rock if the band is good, and if not I'll just pretend they are. Or I'll go and play basketball. Either way it'll be fun.

Well...better go finish this stupid dance. Maybe I'll show Jessie on Monday....

Or not. *sigh*

amazing things...

It's amazing how stressed some people get over stuff.

It's also how amazing it is that favouritism is so incredibly obvious at school.

Another amazing thing - how ridiculously stupid people are about things - invitation only? Just tell people if they're not welcome.

And another one! I find it amazing that we are STILL not allowed to walk on the stupid grass. Get over it already and spend our fees on something WORTHWHILE.

I almost feel sick at the idea of auditioning for Solo Dance - I've also discovered I am a crap choreographer and will never be able to come up with a dance. Maybe I'll just give up the whole stupid idea now before I get too upset over it.

Despite the fact this post seems really emo - I'm actually not depressed. Just letting some things out.

super rant

Okay, update number two for one day, which is sad - however I have just realized how frustrated I am that youth is always about the year twelves. It's like the year elevens (now) are this invisible group of people that don't mean anything on their own. It's always the year twelves - they did their year eleven exams last year, so now ours mean nothing. They're doing their TEE this year, so next year ours will mean nothing. Everything they do just seems to be so much more important that what we do and that FRUSTRATES ME. Our sixteenths will mean nothing because they're all already sixteen. Us getting our L's will mean nothing because they've already got theirs and most likely will be on their P's so we mean even LESS. If we do well at school we're called nerds, if they do well at school they get congratulated. Everything we do gets treated as 'younger'. They start gig first, therefore us starting gig this year means nothing. They start Salt first, so us being in Salt will be meaningless. It's like us being at youth is POINTLESS unless we literally follow them and idolize them EVERYWHERE.

swimming carnivals

Well I suppose you can't really avoid them, but swimming carnivals really wear you out. Today we had our interhouse carnival at Challenge...and De Grey lost. I've got to admit, our house officials are waaaaaaaaay below standard, which I suppose is inevitable, but a little disheartening. But the other houses did good, so we must be the odd ones out. Congrats to everyone who swam...especially Megan!!! Champion of year eleven!! major *snaps* there
I'm using this as a source of procrastination...I have many history notes to right, and lots of Intro Calc questions that need doing, even though I can't get the answer righ. Word problems are the devil, and don't believe anything else.
Was a part of the 'Audio Visual'-ness for the carnival today - which was basically pointless, got a few good shots, but at a swimming carnival? Basically everything is the same. I've just got to hope Liz got the presentations, seeing as I didn't have the camera, and as far as I know, neither did Olivia. So now I'll have to spend about a week competing for editing rights...that's the problem with creative input when there's two of you - it just doesn't work. Maybe I'll just let Liz edit it, she'd do a better job.
*sigh* sleep time, I'm exhausted and it's only twenty to five!

Some great things:

* Saxophone Lessons - lessons with Gemma have now reinspired me to actually TRY at saxophone and practice again! Woohoo!
* Filming the Swimming Carnival - anything to get out of swimming in it - brilliant :)
* Desperate Housewives - I'm addicted. *shame* But then again, I'm not a TV junkie like some people, so I guess one show is relatively acceptable
* Working internet - iinet must hate me. However - it works again! *cheers*
*History - one of the best classes ever
* Working MP3 player - it's about time too
* Babysitting - okay I know generally people complain, but these girls are angels, they just colour in and watch TV, and I can do pretty much whatever I want!
* Snake Day - yay it's tomorrow!
* Getting paid - tomorrow...
* Old school music and Broadway - my music tastes keep changing.
* Beginners Tennis - it's great! P.E. is so much better when you get to choose what you want to do.

Some not so great things:

* Wasting an entire night folding pamphlets for SOMEONE ELSE'S paper round
* Having people get confused
* Smelly saxophones - oh my gosh, this thing honestly smells feral *dies*
* Overcommitment - despite me promising myself I would not overcommit myself to stuff this year - I've managed to do it again. But a balanced life is fun, so I don't mind =)
* Intro Calc - those word problems today were the absolute worst thing on the entire planet. If anyone got them right, they are freaks and should be put in an institution for maths people and kept FAR AWAY FROM NORMAL HUMAN BEINGS
* Slacking off - well I'm not disorganized yet, but I'm getting very good at finding distractions...
* James Blunt - his songs are starting to drive me insane

Definite Music Downloads:

* Bond - all of it. The strings quartet is AWESOME
* Yellowcard - once again, all of it. <3 them majorly
* Frank Sinatra - anything, but don't miss Somewhere Beyond The Sea; New York, New York; Fly Me To The Moon and That's Amore
* Stacey Orrico - Stuck. It's teenybopperific
* Taking Back Sunday - Great stuff
* Village People - great for a dance
* Grease - What a musical
* Linsday Lohan - Daughter to Father - okay I hate Lindsay Lohan, but this song's film clip is awesome
* Planetshakers - so many pathetic puns I can use...but I'm holding back! Anyway, great God-loving stuff
* Bodyjar - One In A Million
* Elton John - what a legend
* Relient K - anything and everything - get it asap. They're fantastic.
* Switchfoot - ditto
* Covers - okay I know a lot of people are anti-covers because they think you can never replace originals - but there are some great MxPx/New Found Glory covers out there - give them a shot
* S Club 7 - Bring It All Back - I know, old schoolness, but it is such a happy, teenybopperific song
* In The Mood - Glen Miller. You all know it, and admit it, you all love it.

Okay, that will do for now. I am so knackered from my shift today I think I might seriously fall asleep in church. Either that or I'll get all teary from tiredness. How embarrassing!

thinkingness

So today on the news I see Brett - a guy who has been rocking up to Mounties for a while, and he's been sent to jail for two years.

Basically two years ago, he was involved in a drag race, where he lost control of the car (he was driving under the influence and was also high) and crashed, killing the two guys in the car with him. Since then he suffered serious depression, was nearly suicidal, until he found Jesus and turned his life around - which the news basically subliminally made a joke of - tone goes a long way. So he's been studying to become a Baptist minister, which I reckon rocks, and he's been a youth guy for a while, talking to guys and generally helping out around youth. During camp he had to leave early for his trial, and he's been so upbeat about it, saying how he'll witness to guys in prison, as scary as that will honestly be, and good old Uncle Col has been working with him to make sure he can continue his Bible College course in jail with the Chaplain there. Basically, despite the court recognizing the change in Brett and his life, and the victim's families supporting Brett throughout the trial, he's still been sent to jail, because the court feels they need to address what happened at the time.

Brett is one of the happiest, most encouraging people I've ever met, and it's amazing that even though he is basically responsible for the deaths of two guys, which is something that he will carry with him always, he's still thinking of making the most of every opportunity he has in life to do what he believes to be his best in God. So if anyone out there feels inclined to send a few prayers upward for Brett over the next two years, please do, cos he definitely needs them.

three days down

Okay, so now the workload has started to sink in. After my first Chemistry class ever, we get given 'revision' homework and are told we will have homework every night - sounds like one of the more 'full on' subjects, which is great, seeing as it also has the heaviest books. But no matter - having Intro Calc AND Chem all in one afternoon just means lots of heavy book carting EVERYWHERE. Stupid Science and Maths buildings being separate to the Una Mitchell.

In other news, it was the first snake day of the year today, and the snakes were ever so good - except for the fact you are SUPPOSED TO CHEW LOLLIES NOT SUCK THEM. Icecream equals craveworthy, as well as sickworthy, so they kind of cancel eachother out, but hey, the icecream has marshmallows in it.

Labelmakers are great, and relabelling your school namebadge is even better - I wonder how many people will try and call me 'Zyllleeeeeeee Fish' tomorrow - probably none, but hey, it should be interesting.

Mr Allanson is away on 'jury duty' so guess who doesn't have a teacher until possibly the week of an assessment? Lovely. That's one subject shot down already.

History is still great, Mrs Amble is still the biggest champ in the entire world. We're going to join the History Committee for two reasons: a) movies and b) badges. But remember guys, don't do it for the badges.

Whatever.
