footy maaate

I'm going to do this chronologically. Starting with last night (Friday 15th September).

For those of you that either live under a rock or aren't from Australia, the biggest AFL game EVER in Fremantle F.C. history took place last night at Subiaco Oval between the Dockers and the Melbourne Demons. It was their second final in the 2006 season, and only their third ever final in a twelve-season lifetime. They'd lost their last two, the only two they'd been in. This game, starting at 6:30pm on a perfect Friday night, was their chance to get another shot at making it to the game of all games in Australian life. Okay, so it's highly unlikely they'll make it that far, BUT WHO CARES. Freo won last night 102 to 74. Oooooh yeah.

Check out here for the run through. But the saddest thing? I think there were a total of about fifteen Melbourne supporters that bothered to rock up and support their team. But suckers! They still lost!!!
Next Freo game next Friday night at Telstra Stadium against Sydney. Should be some quality TV.

But to move on. Today was the epic day in history that theoretically marked the U/13s Winnacott Tigers grand final victory. I say 'theoretically' because in fact, they lost. Dad was devastated. Jarrad was devastated. The whole team was devastated. After an entire season on top of the ladder, losing only twice, and beating the only team they'd lost to (twice) in the first semi, they went down to the team with the evil-est (neologism!) coach in the whole world, East Fremantle. LAME. So that was very disappointing. But they got their medal, and dad is determined to coach next year completely by himself and kick butt. And have his voice back, and a decent team.

AFL: It's not a game, it's a lifestyle
