a big rant

I'm really good at saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I'm really good at being blase about too many things, until they get so big that dealing with them is way too difficult. I'm really really good at keeping my distance, or being close to lots of people to avoid having one really strong connection. I'm good at avoiding what I know I should do to. I'm also very very good at procrastination. I really like honesty, but it scares me a lot. I pray that I could be dedicated and focussed. I wish I could set realistic goals. I wish I could finish my to-do lists. I'm really good at not taking things seriously to avoid getting upset and hurting others. Which just leads to getting upset and hurting others. I can light a fire, and I can listen to you talk, but I can never tell you 100% what I'm thinking. I waste hundreds of hours to avoid failure. My perfectionism and people pleasing mean I can't get out of vicious cycles of wanting what I don't have. I don't know what I want right now. I don't really know what God wants right now. I just want to hide in my room and eat and waste time and pretend there is nothing important I'm being called to do so I don't fail at it and hurt you. I want to be uncommitted to everything so that i don't hurt those bonds of commitment. I want to get those stupid things right. I want to stop pretending to have life together and actually get it together. And I'd like to work out how to surrender all that too.

One day.

What could you ever trade your soul for?

Nope.

slice of life

Friday: Food shopping. Re-checking myer in case there is an awesome jacket slash boots I just couldn't find. A date at Murdoch with Nat the vet student and Dr. Who lover. Who will show me her noses. Quick scramble to do packing for Salty weekend. Listen to yesterdays lectures I skipped. Roadtrip with Lauren, Geoff and our lard. Salty weekend eating time. Is everything I do based around food? More food. Crash and die quietly. In the comfort of chalets.

Saturday: Hm. Good question. That will be a surprise. Some extreme fondue action in there somewhere.

Sunday: Probably be really fatigued from extreme fondue. Sleep in car on the way home. Die in bed, wake up and realize it is study break. But not as exciting as it seems because OH YEAH Emily skips all her lectures and now she needs to catch up on them. And do a Crim Assignment. And read three eighty page cases. And do her readings. And get ahead on her other assignments. And stop slacking. And work with yoghurt and tutor and remember what maths is and go to the footy. So write a list of things to do. Procrastinate. Probably drink coffee. Bed.

Study Break, or, as it should be better known, Procrastination break. Write lots of lists, do the easy things first and hten leave all hard things till the end. Stress, die, go out to feel better, spend lots of money, become broke and then finally start work at 1 int eh morning. BUT I will have lots of nice pretty new things so it will be worth it!

The following Week...
COLLIE. After working with fun fun yoghurt.

Then back to uni. Hooray =]

In other great news, I spent a lot a lot of money tonight in about an hour and a half. But I'm still not done! But there should always be some reward for working hard and remembering maths and playing with yoghurt. Imagine if we close. I'd have to work somewhere nice and non-smelly. DEAR GOD, THE THOUGHT.
I think I'm quite tired. I think I should sleep.
ASAP.

Spell your name without an E,S,H,I,M,A

what emily likes about life

Stage Shows, especially really good ones, like Miss Saigon.
Being busy but not tired. That is not entirely true of the moment, but never mind! One day it will be.
Learning really cool things about Law, Politics, History and French.
Finding about the weird and wonderful world of Criminal Law
Brushing my hair
Being paid to do stuff, and thus having money to do other stuff which is always better than what you're paid to do
Gatherings of friends
The occasional bit of solitude
Chocolate
The colour orange and the shenanigans of wearing orange in a tigerish form on Canning Highway
People not knowing too much.
Jane Austen and her hilariously funny recollection of life
Comfortable pjs
slowing getting direction
letting other people make decisions for me
reliving the St. Hilda's Arts Fest experience
pretty dresses
relaxing songs
discovering the benefits of typing lectures and going to lectures so you don't have to listen on lectopia later. because lectopia is ghey
chocolate froghurt & hot showersnot together =S

And nice hugs. And what it feels like after crying, which is emo. Not that I've cried at all recently =S I was just thinking about how nice it always feels AFTERWARDS. It's like your eyes get washing, in a more-than-literal way.

* tea is so wonderful
* it is almost winter clothes season!
* A Beautiful Mind is my new favourite movie
* Mum is STILL addicted to Big Fat Loser.

* except it's kind of weird because my Mac is really noisy
* I love Juno
* I'm also contemplating cutting my hair
* There are not many days until Salty weekend and Collie roadtrip!
* Je vais acheter les oeufs. I just like those weird words
* Driving is ghey

hmmm

I've been thinking about some things. I have decided to discuss them.

1) Busyness. As in being busy all the time, every second of every day with no break. That kind of busy. I'm trying to decide if this is a good thing. In some ways you're getting out everything you can of your day and your time and all of that. So you are productive. But then in other ways you may potentially be burnt out. Or stressed out, or something'd out. But I don't know if there's such thing as a healthy balance. And how do you even know what to say 'no' to anyway? Some people seem to have that all sussed. But it is way too difficult to discern. And who do you please?

2) Privacy. What is the best thing to be? Like not tell anyone anything, or be really open? Or find some middle ground? I swear the middle ground does not exist though. It cannot. And one thing I struggle with is telling people things and them feeling as though now they're a part of it. I guess it's important to decide who to share your life with and who you want accountability from, and who you don't. But that's hard.

3) Being focussed. I lose focus very easily.So I'm wondering whether being multi-focussed is a good thing? I guess this kind of relates to busyness, but I mean in more a general kind of learning way - is it better to learn one thing at a time or have lots going on?

4) Working. I have one question. Is it PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE TO FORCE A CUSTOMER TO BUY YOGHURT ON A TUESDAY MORNING WHEN THERE IS LIKE NOONE AT GARDEN CITY? NO! SO HOW ON EARTH DO YOU EARN YOURSELF MORE SHIFTS IF NOONE WANTS TO BUY YOUR PRODUCT!

5) Middle ground. It is very hard to find the middle ground. Some help would be very nice, thanks.

6) Happiness. It perplexes me the amount of people who find it difficult to be happy. Or choose not to be. I get worried that maybe I'm being heartless? Feelings confuse me a lot.

And Fremantle lost, so I'm going to go cry now. *sob*

parlez-vous francais a l'universite?

This is the most disgustingly, horrifically sunburnt I have ever been in my life. Law Fresher Picnic, in Mandurah, with no shade, and pale skin means I am basically the brightest pink I've ever seen. It is extremely embarrassing. And hurty. HURTY to the max!! Also, Goon is your life enemy. Never forget it my friends. Never.

Week two of uni has confirmed for me that I like it and I like sitting in pretty cafes and looking at pretty trees and pretty grass and being studious. However, I'm quite overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do and the amount of time I really don't have =S But I like learning to speak French, and learning about European history, and finding out the cool stuff of criminal law, and analyzing the political system. Not so much legal process. That is boring.

I also like the fancy old books you can get in the library. I had to read some of Hobbes' Leviathan for Politics,a nd it was all old and nicely bound, and had old fashioned English and was just generally lovely =] Lovely I say!

Anyway, the only reason I'm writing this is because I have lots and lots of reading to do adn I don't want to do it because my eyes are all dry and my skin is all burnt and generally I can't be bothered. Life is a complicated and wonderful thing. I read that just before. I tend to agree.

A bientot, ma cheries. J'etudie l'histoire tout de suite. Or something like that.

day two

after two days of being a uni student, i have discovered...

* flat whites are $1.40 in the ref
* the libraries are very intimidating
* people who use laptops in lectures are the most annoying people on the planet
* you have to read a lot
* you also have to study a lot
* it is necessary to fight for your place in the queue for the bus
* nothing exists outside of the law building, arts building and the guild village
* trees are nice
* books are heavy
* keep your phone permanently on silent
* avoid goon
* there are many boring lecturers
* always have cash
* eight am starts should be reserved only for science students
* don't go to the bookshop after ten am
* there are always lots of people walking around
* don't lose your campus card
* don't use the Arts toilets
* expect to see a million school people
* don't be late or else you get embarrassingly singled out
* everyone is a nerd

Happy happy happy

I just wanted to tell the world how ridiculously happy I am for the following reasons:

1. Lauren is home!
2. I have crossed off three things on my 'list of things to do before uni goes back'
3. Uni goes back next week!
4. Lauren is home!
5. Kat just may be my new yoghurt buddy!
6. *secret* but it still makes me happy!
7. I can play the first three pages of 'Dawn' and it doesn't sound bad!
8. Writing letters to Lizzii!
9. Finishing books!
10. Lauren is home!

And I am still sad Lindsay is living on the other side of the country. But I'm very happy she is going to be smart and a history nerd and have basically no contact hours so she can just shopa nd then tell me about all her bargains.

A tribute to Lindsay

Who leaves for Sydney forever tomorrow night to never return. Until July. I am sure she will be wonderful in the world of uni and colleges.
Lots of love her way

What Has Emily Been Doing With Her Life?

1. Yoghurt Selling. Yup. I've been selling yoghurt more than I thought was humanly possible AND I've discovered I quite enjoy chocolate frozen yoghurt. And mango smoothies. I make a mean mango smoothie. And I like getting paid too. That is nice.

2. Dancing. Not that much, but I am now officially a Sole to Soul leader with an orange(pink) shirt and everything! Now to actually remember how to dance.

3. Making Mei Goreng. I have this packet mix fun stuff like everyday. It is so freaking addictive.

4. Waiting Impatiently for Uni to Start. I would rather like to learn again. It's all well and good to earn money and be on holidays and do nothing, but I do like learning. 3rd of March!!

5. Colouring In. Kat bought me a Disney Princess Colouring In book. It is very good for keeping myself occupied. =]

6. Dance Dance Revolutioning. My new goal in life is to finish Spice Girls//Spice Up Your Life (or maybe it was Stop? One of them) on Pro so I can amaze Gary Low.

7. Eating Darrell Lea Chocolate. So ridiculously addicted to Dark chocolate coated red licorice bullets.

8. Spending too Much Money on Gloria Jeans Caramel Lattes. But I do get a discount as a result of Moo =] So that is exciting!

9. Trying To Expand My Music Taste. I've discovered I like everything except the Cat Empire. But I need influencing in what I listen to. Suggestions please?

10. Being Addicted to the Movie Beaches. I really do love that movie. It is so so so so sad.

11. Occasionally Cleaning. I cleaned up the Book room and it looks all lovely now. For a while I was inspired to clean my room and the games room, but it's kind of worn off. I still have to do it though. Eventually. Maybe tomorrow.

12. Putting off Joining the Gym. I'm so angry at myself, I just can't seem to force myself to go there and fill out forms. I think I'm a bit scared about getting a program and not sticking to it. Stupid hey?

13. Writing Letters. I really love letters.

14. Considering a Career Change and Going to the Bus Driving Open Day. Just kidding. No really. I'm kidding.

15. Playing the Piano. I bought the Pride & Prejudice music book and it is so lovely to try (really badly) to play it. I really need to practice more often.

And that's all really! It's all unexciting and uneventful for now.

washing directions

The biggest pile of crap you will ever read :

Gail Sorronda for Target evokes visions of summers past, present or future. Sheer fabrics and sequins transform under sunlight, and a playful use of tailoring is coupled with light masculine features for a grown up twist to feminine dressing

This was written on the Mambo tag for some boardies Jarrad bought:

To wash, Mambo recommends soaking this garment in a cosmic bucket two thirds full of mystic crystals (Australian Industry Standard). Soak for 45 minutes then rinse in a gently flowing stream. To dry, wring first in a 'yin' direction followed by a reverse 'yang' twist. Hang between 2 maypoles and dance around garment until dry. Dude... fold into basket. For best results, wash only when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter is aligned with Mars

Now THAT's advice I intend to follow

Dinner time!

* Today I was moo-ed at as a result of my bright red shirt which says 'Moo'. It was really embarrassing. I had to try not to laugh.
* I have developed a beach addiction. I want to go pretty much all the time.
* I have also redeveloped my chocolate addiction. This is supremely bad as I keep putting off joining the gym because I don't want to part with all that money in one big go. Best things ever: Darrel Lea's dark chocolate coated red licorice bullets. *sigh of happiness*
* I just called the gym and spoke to Mr. I'm-A-Football-Player-Listen-To-My-Awful-Drawl
* There is still ANOTHER MONTH BEFORE UNI STARTS. I'M GOING INSANE! I NEED TO LEARN!
* I may be starting another job tutoring at Mich's mum's business, which is exciting! Less sticky, more brain power
* And I'm working at the by-election. So lots of cash for me.
* I have made yet another vow to keep my room clean and tidy and free from gross messiness.
* I've also redeveloped my love for writing letters. It is nice having lots of people around who I need to write letters to. I wrote about five the other night when I was babysitting. It was great. they were practically unreadable, which was the cause of my new note to self: improve handwriting
* My internet makes me angry as it likes to disconnect at lots of random and inconvenient times
* I've decided I'm going to start teaching myself a language. I don't know what yet, but I'm learning French at uni so I'll have to choose something else.
* Desperately waiting for my new piano music to come through from Lizziiiiiiiiiiiii at Zenith
* Kind of worried about this dance thing - I am concerned about the fact I haven't danced in...about a trillion years
* Needing a new book - and recommendations for said new book
* Also in need of a developed music taste. Mine is shamefully non-refined
* It feels really strange not being at school - lie I saw all these school kids coming into Garden City and I felt so lost and confused.
* The bank people know me by name. That is embarrassing.
* I'm refining my cooking skills of late. There wasn't many skills to start with, but they're gradually developing. It's kind of exciting.
* Salmon girl was the funniest thing I've ever seen

best day ever

So last night I went to the 'cultural' experience of watching Shakespeare's 'As You Like It' in Kings Park, which was totally not cultured. In a good way. They took the script and then set it in the seventies - it was actually amazing. I want to go again. Any takers? Although if I did go again, I'd take chairs =S it was longer than I expected. But so so so good.

And then today I have played DDR, made cookies and some random slice, and watched Hairspray. It is the best day ever. You don't get any better than that. Seriously. BUT!!!! There's the Harry Potter marathon tonight! My goodness, I'm so excited.

I started at Moo on Tuesday (yup, laugh all you want, even I think it's kind of funny) - and I don't mind it! There is ice cream, and smoothies, and lots of yoghurt - and I'm actually amazed how many people buy yoghurt. Seriously. I don't even really like yoghurt (but don't tell my boss) but I have to say this yoghurt is good...although the frozen stuff is better. And apparently better for you but still... yoghurt? Popular? I don't really understand. But they seem to have been desperate for staff, cos they're already putting me on by myself next week =S Kind of scary! And I'm back to being the messiest worker ever - i always leave covered in yoghurt and ice cream and sticky stuff. *sigh* Kind of wish I'd taken a less messy job but... there is nowhere else looking and I feel bad quitting straight away =P

My cookies taste bad =[ Worst day ever.
Anyway friends, enough of my rambling. I bought a new piano book and have two Pride & Prejudice books on order so I've decided it's time to get back into musicness. So I'm off to force myself to play good again.

Listeriffic

Uni Enrolment: I have about half a tree's worth of paper of information about being a uni student. I haven't read any of it, I'm kind of hoping I'll just absorb it all by osmosis and know everything and everyone without having to try. But, it is all very exciting, my head is on an angle on the student card, I have another email account and number I'll have to learn, and lots of new books to buy. I love new books. Just one more month and all is fantastic.

New Job: Yeah so you're all going to make fun of me and laugh (just like everyone) but I have a job at Moo. And laugh all you like, I get paid, I have no customers yelling at me for losing their trousers and it is clean and organized and I get a pay slip! I haven't had a pay slip since working at Bakers Delight in Year ten! And a uniform! It took me a year and a half to get a second hand uniform at Brumby's! It's just one big novelty. How exciting.

The Gym: Friends, I am torn. Do I join Zest? Or do I join the Melville Gyms? I need help with a decision!

Missing Friends: So many people have run away from me. Lauren is STILL in Lord Howe Island of Luxury and beachness. Lindsay is still off in Europe. Adam's in like Germany or something. Whatever, traveloholics.

Coffee: Now the greatest liquid ever invented. Even better when enjoyed with lovely people. Which is usually all the time. =] =] =]

Dance Lessons: So I'm going to start being a leader with Michelle at Sole to Soul, or Soul to Sole, or maybe just one of those, I'm not sure, but whatever, you get the gist. Slight problem being I haven't had dance lessons since I was, oh, maybe nine or something. Maybe I should sign up for new ones. Maybe.

There's more but I'm sick of a computer screen. I'm going to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's =]

Direction

I've started to become a bit obsessive compulsive.
I write lists all the time.
I'm addicted to the scales.
I'm really and stupidly messy but it makes me really upset every time I walk into my room and there's not order (which is like, all the time)
I like things to be perfectly set out and perfectly easy to understand.
If something isn't perfect I abandon it.
It's really odd! I am becoming a freak

Limbo

I have very little to say as a result of this limbo period of life.
So I'll do a recap of Sydney

* Canberra is a hole, but I sat in the old PM's chair
* Sydney is very pretty
* I spent more money than I have ever in my whole life
* We stayed in a house with TEN BATHROOMS
* Two-bedroom apartments are not meant for six people
* Two boats caught on fire

And that's basically it in a nutshell. Back to limbo!
