Oh wow.

It's kind of embarrassing, but I cried. Man it was so amazing!

Saturday, August 15, 2009

What I ponder while studying...

.: I feel a little like I'm spamming my own blog. Is that even possible? But whatever. I don't care.

.: Seeing the school girls for Lindsay's birthday last night (happy birthday Lindsay!) was supremely fantastic. ♥ to them

.: Eating Haribo gummi bears makes me 30x happier.

.: Choosing an area of law to focus your essay on that you haven't yet learnt about creates approximately 500x more work for yourself.

.: But defamation law is quite interesting, so it's worth it. Maybe.

.: Planning trips to Sydney is fun fun fun for everyone! I'm so excited!

.: I sing out loud a lot when I'm home on my own. That is quite embarrassing.

.: I'm still embarrassed the Shiseido girl told me I had bad skin, so I now drink a lot of water. Like a LOT. Yesterday at work I had like nine glasses of water, in case other people thought I also had bad skin.

.: I only like keeping other people's things nice and tidy. Tidying your own stuff is boring.

.: Signing up for mooting was a crazy yet excellent idea I think.

.: What should I wear to Amy's 21st tonight?

.: Highlighting is fun! Yellow highlighters are the best though. Orange highlighters are lame.

.: I often think about mundane things to hide myself from thinking about God related stuff. I think that is common, but it's sad it's common.

.: Planning to go to the Balinese orphanage is getting me super excited! Who's free early December? You should come too.

Mmm...that's all. I need to go write an essay now *sigh*

Vampire Photoshop

Oh wow am I addicted to this thing now. It is so much fun! Here's what I did just then...

I haven't seen Twilight the movie, but I read the book and I have the feeling I've captured the ridiculously pale/sparkling thing they get in the sun. Maybe I'm secretly a vampire. (By the way, for some lame reason the colour here is SO DULL compared to what comes up in photoshop, so no I am not completely talentless... well... maybe just partially! But you can see the colours properly if you click on the picture... but no pressure I'm just saying that I'm not really that bland looking!)

Tutorial for sparkles (aka star diffusion... I prefer sparkles!) here.

I feel a bit weird posting all these photos of myself, but I'd rather photoshop those because other people might be offended that I don't think they're pretty enough already! Besides, it's fun making myself have brown hair/no eyebrows (oh wait, I didn't have those in the first place...) :)

And just for fun, I won a $10 ref voucher (yeww the ref...only the lamest place ever) for coming first in the guild tipping competition at uni :) I am quite proud of myself, although it's pretty sad if the best effort is 6/8. It's going to be a good week!
Just a quick whinge... am I the only one who has heard Miley Cyrus's 'The Climb' every freaking time I get in the car the last two weeks???
SERIOUSLY!
'Ain't about how fast I get there... ain't about what's waiting on the other side...' Ain't about getting some grammatical ability, hey Miley?

Golly.

That Facebook Thing

I decided I would fill it out, because otherwise I have to do my evidence homework and that's BORINGGGG

If you've been tagged or you are reading this, you have the honor of copying all these goofy questions, writing your own response, and tagging other victims. You have to tag me also. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your title as "Getting to know each other!", tag people including me (tagging is done in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish.

1. What time did you get up this morning? Around 10:15...does it count as a sleepin if you didn't get to sleep until 3am?

2. How do you like your steak? With extra meat, and Nandos extra hot peri peri :):)

3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? Harry Potter 6! The biggest diversion from the actual book ever!

4. What is your favorite TV show? How I Met Your Mother, So You Think You Can Dance (Australia AND US), Grey's Anatomy.... there's a long list. Damn TiVo.

5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? In the next few years? Somewhere in America. In life in general? Wherever I'm taken - Perth is lovely, but I'd like to appreciate it more by having lived somewhere else.

6. What did you have for breakfast? A slice of vegemite toast and a cup of tea :) The same thing I have every morning. I like routine.

7. What is your favorite cuisine? Hot and spicy!!! That is so a cuisine.

8. What foods do you dislike? Bananas. And I don't like the look of porridge, or the name, but I love the taste. Does that count?

9. Favorite Place to Eat? Anywhere!! I love eating!!

10. Favorite dressing? Nando's extra-hot peri peri!

11.What kind of vehicle do you drive? A toyota corolla with no aerial. I broke it off by accident.

12. What are your favorite clothes? Dresses! Pretty pretty dresses! And high heels.

13. Where would you visit if you had the chance? The pyramids in Egypt. I don't know why but I think it would be really awesome. Future husband, if you're reading this, please propose to me at the pyramids.

14. Cup 1/2 empty or 1/2 full? Well if I'm eating/drinking what's in the cup, half-empty because I'll want more. But in the 'it's a lot like life' way... half full I think.

15. Where would you want to retire? NEVER.

16. Favorite time of day? The warm sunny part, and night time.

17. Where were you born? Fitzroy. How unexciting.

18. What is your favorite sport to watch? Netball! And dance! And basketball! And football!

19. Who do you think will not tag you back? I haven't tagged anyone in the first place. The pressure was too much - who do I tag first? Will I offend someone if I don't tag them? What if someone gets tagged by me and is all like 'oh that Emily girl is so lame I hate her so much look at her crap answers to this crazy quiz'? So I went for the blog instead. The pressure is so much less.

20. Person you expect to tag you back first? ...see above :)

21. Who are you most curious about their responses to this? Um. Well. The questions aren't all that enlightening, so I'm not too fussed.

22. Bird watcher? How is that exciting? I mean, they are birds. Speaking of, I saw a dead one on the side of the road in Freo the other day, it was so gross.

23. Are you a morning person or a night person? It depends on what activity is happening! I'm cool with either.

24. Do you have any pets? Nahhhhhhhh. One day I'd like to have a fish :)

25. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share? I was sucked in by the sales girl at Shiseido and bought THE MOST AMAZING SKIN STUFF EVER OH MY GOSH. My face is so smooth! And hydrated! But that's not exciting. Exciting... going to see Ben Folds at the Opera House with some of the coolest kids! Yayy!

26. What did you want to be when you were little? An author, or a journalist, or a diplomat, or ... or... everything!

27. What is your best childhood memory? Lots of family holidays... and probably dancing. I loved dancing.

28. Are you a cat or dog person? I'm not really an animal person... although once I get to know certain dogs I fall in love with them.

29. Are you married? To my law degree.

30. Always wear your seat belt? I do :) It's the first thing I do when I get in the car. Safety first!

31. Been in a car accident? Nope :) Oh wait, I lie - I was, on the way to a dance concert.

32. Any pet peeves? People who mis-use apostrophes, or use the wrong 'your/you're', or who put in speech marks when there is NO SPEECH YOU'RE EMPHASIZING SOMETHING SO UNDERLINE IT FOOLS. Or people who try to compete with you when there's no competition. Example: 'Oh man, I have so much work to do this weekend this sucks', 'Yeah well I had seven assignments due yesterday and eight essays for tomorrow and I have to walk my dog, so yours is nothing'. =\ But I never said I was trying to compete with you!! ARGH!

33. Favorite pizza toppings? PINEAPPLE

34. Favorite flower? Umm...daisies :) Or white lilies, or roses

35. Favorite ice cream? Rocky Road!

36. Favorite fast food restaurant? Um. Um. Um. Um.... I don't know! Dome? Does that count? =P Or Wok In A Box

37. How many times did you fail your driver's test? None! I was awesome and passed every time :)

38. From whom did you get your last email? Facebook. Lame.

39. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card? Sportsgirl. Or Myer. Or pretty much anywhere with beautiful things. Kikki K!

40. Do anything spontaneous lately? Sort of, sort of not. I'm spontaneous without being spontaneous. If ya know what I mean...

41. Like your job? It pays the bills. It's actually alright, filing can be lame but it's a nice other part of life.

42. Broccoli? Yum!

43. What was your favorite vacation? Probably the school tour to England, that was so fun! And America because it's awesome. And all the Bali/Penang trips. I think all vacations :)

44. Last person you went out to dinner with? Um um... Ali came over and we ate dinner? If not the school girls, that's how we catch up :)

45. What are you listening to right now? Nothing, because I'm 'studying'.

46. What is your favorite color? Blue and greeeeeeeen. And I've become a big fan of red lately.

47. How many tattoos do you have? None and I will NEVER get one. They are so so so so so so so so so so SO tacky.

48. How many are you tagging for this quiz? YOU

49. What time did you finish this quiz? At 1:17pm, but I'm pretty sure that's completely irrelevant to anything ever.

Anyway... I better actually do some work. But... we'll see. I have a new cousin and he is JUST THE CUTEST THING EVER so I may just go visit him instead.

Photoshop!

So I've had photoshop on my computer for a while, but have always been intimidated by it so never did anything. What a fool! I saw a tutorial here on how to make your photos look TTV - and it was easy!!! There's still a few kinks I have to iron out like sizing the frames and working out how to resize layers, and also how to unchange the accidental changes I made to the settings... but they're all easy to live with! Anyway, here's some of the fun photos I had a play with...

Exciting hey??? I'm so addicted. Now I want to learn more!

By the way, all the overlays I used were found here.

Hello Friends!

I have lots of things to say, but I'm going to limit them for now.

Life lessons in a list:
* DON'T MAKE NOISES IN THE LAW LIBRARY
* It is really cold all the time, take a jacket.
* Losing your smartrider is losing your life.
* It's possible to make bad days good days

And some lyrics that have been swirling around in my head. I love this song:

Give me a reason
For life and for death
A reason for drowning
While I hold my breath
Something to laugh at
A reason to cry
With everyone hopeless
And hoping for something
To hope for
Yeah, with something to hope for

Could it be true
Can life be new
Could it be all that I am
Is in You
Could it be this
Could it be bliss
Can it be You
Can it be You

Switchfoot//Love and Life and Why

The second half of the song is the best.
Anyway, Cervantes tomorrow I better pack!

Tonight I...

* manipulated the method of my movement
* was dominant and submissive
* LOLed a lot at the combination of my two favourite TV shows in the world, Biggest Loser and SYTYCD which amalgamated into Dance Your Ass Off (fun note, the host is as much in need of hitting the gym as the contestants)
* sat in front of the heater and ate chocolate
* panicked about the foolishness of doing two third-level law units
* ate more chocolate.

It was awesome :)

Lame-face girls

I've been a lame-face girl this last month and I am done! No more!

Uni has started, it's a fresh start, new things to learn and things to do. There are many happy adventures ahead. Focus focus focus.

How I Met Your Mother has been really helpful - the characters are all my best friends. I regularly have the urge to tell people to Suit up and stuff.

Yeah.

Time to stop being sad and be awesome instead.

...end of really badly constructed post.

Sunday, July 12, 2009

Today was a bad day. It was a little unexpected. Nevertheless there were good elements, like Coco Avant Chanel and seeing friends. But there were bad parts too.

Unavoidable, I suspect. C'est tout.

Wooow it's been a big week! I'm so glad to be maximising my holidays!

A week of photos to start...

June 28

Steve, Emma, Jenny, Bec and I went to a community gospel concert at St Patrick's Basilica. It was wikkid fun! We were the youngest people in the audience by about 400 years, and it was just the best thing - and wow can some of those people sing. This photo is depressingly blurry, but we were stuck over to the side and I was embarrassed at taking photos with a big flash =]

June 29

A bit of an emo photo, but to be fair, Monday mornings are never easy. Label makers really are my new favourite thing, and that song lyric had been running around my head for a bit. But not in the bad way... more in the 'nobody said it was easy, but you don't need to give up' sort of way. And besides, I love that coffee notebook paper :)

June 30

Emily at work - hot hot coffee, the Optus cup (I really like that cup, it's such a fabulous shape and a fabulous yellow) and files...lots and lots and lots and LOTS of files. It was a filing week.

July 1

What has now been described to me as 'the best boyfriend you'll ever have'. I know it's featured a bit on this blog lately but hey... it's pretty freaking awesome. As shamed as I am to say it!

July 2

This is an awful photo because it is overflashed and disgustingly coloured, but THIS IS THE BEST SHOP EVER! Omg. I spent ages in there just looking at everything - I didn't even need a new notebook (I compulsively buy them and have a million to use up) but I just fell in love with it. Everyone who hasn't been, I'm taking you to the Flying Teapot because it's just so beautiful =D

July 3

We played Jenga and watched TV shows before hitting Subi for the night. Note that the Jenga tower on the left is defying all physics laws by missing one of the poles on the bottom layer and STILL STANDING. Amazing.

July 4

And Saturday was movie fun. That popcorn was the biggest thing I've ever ever seen. We saw The Year One. It was okay. I probably wouldn't pay to see it again... in fact I'd recommend just seeing it on DVD. It had a few good jokes though :)

***

In other news, Ali has returned from Africa which is exciiting :)

And camp was so fun! We made food in ENORMOUS quantities for the 120 people there. I helped make a self saucing pudding, involving 4 kilos of sugar, 4 kilos of flour, 2 kilos of cocoa.... it was AMAZIIINNNGGG!!!!! And it TASTED amazing which is perhaps the most amazing part of it all.

It really blew my mind how much these kids eat. One kid came back for four helpings of every meal. It was super weird.

I'm too tired to write anything of substance... it's back to work tomorrow, so sleepy time!

mid-year resolutions

So I was totally planning on being asleep by now, but it's just not happening! So, without further ado, mid year resolutions :)

Put in 100% to everything.
I've realized lately I settle quite quickly. Things become routine really fast, and I stop trying very hard. I refuse to continue this habit! There are so many amazing opportunities, and I don't want to sit by and wish I was the best I could be at something - I want to actually be the best I can! In everything. From my relationships with people, to the lame stuff like work and uni. I'm sick of settling! And it's going to change!

Listen to people.
Sometimes I'm really terrible at properly listening to someone. You can learn so much! I want to do it more.

Finish what I start.
Variously worded throughout my journal as 'stop giving up', 'follow through' and so on, this leads on from the first resolution. I have so many unfinished projects lying around, ranging from crafty fun to photo albums to self-motivated research projects. I've decided I need to only pick things I know I'll finish! I have all these projects that are meant for fun and they stress me out because I don't finish them! No more. And this follows through to other parts of life too.

Be honest.
As lame as it is, the truth hurts. Sometimes a lot, sometimes in a great way, sometimes not at all. But! I want to man up and face it and keep going! And be honest to other people too, not just myself. Wow..These are all quite serious resolutions.

Dominate with my GHD.
Time to be less serious - my GHD is my new love. It fills the hole in my heart , haha no I joke, I joke. But it is quite wonderful! And I want to learn how to do cool things, because it's lighthearted and fun.

Buy less coffee.
Buying coffee is a fun feeling. Walking into a cafe and ordering, making meaningless conversation with the barista who's had the same conversation eight times already that morning, the general smell and noise and people-watching :) But - it is unnecessary spending, that adds up really fast. And saving takes dedication and small sacrifices such as these.

Write more.
Writing is fun! Letters, mainly, and blogs for general perusal partially. So, I want to write more. Yeah.

Be a better friend.
Self explanatory I think...

* * *

Remind me next time to write measurable goals. How on earth do I tell if I've achieved these things??

Monday, June 29, 2009

[Week One]

So I totally meant to do this yesterday but forgot...

I've decided to resurrect the 365 project I started. I really enjoyed the challenge of taking a photo each day, no matter how mundane or exciting it was. And I figured, why not capture my 19th year of being alive? So, starting Sunday June 21, I have been taking a photo a day. I won't be posting them on Flickr because it's LAME and only holds 200 before they aren't viewable because you aren't paying, so I'm going to post them here :) Once a week, I'll put up the photos. You can just ignore them, it's mainly for me and to keep me using my camera.

Now, without further ado...Emily's first week as a 19 year old!

June 21

Pandora bracelet #2. I love my school girls =)

June 22

From coffee with my favourite woman, Kat. Isn't she creative?

June 23

New op-shop shoes - $6.95! For novo shoes too...not bad I say. Not bad.

June 24

Why everyone should work in an office - look what the accounts brought in! They were the most amazing cupcakes of my life. They were like a fluffy cloud of heaven in a bite.

June 25

Sometimes you just have to make your own fun at work...

June 26

My favourite kind of price tag. From my new and lovely dress :)

June 27

Note: GHD curls. New favourite eye makeup from Body Shop. Saturday was a really good day.

* * *

And there ends week one! I'm excited about this.
Now...sleep time. A big day tomorrow!

GHD

The GHD, as pictured above, is meant to be my new best friend. We've been together for precisely one week so far, and unfortunately, it's not the greatest relationship I've ever had. I burn my fingers and ears. My hair is not curly, but kinky, in the SUPER BAD WAY. I've seen a million youtube videos of girls whose GHD lovingly styles their hair so they look like supermodels. I just kind of look like a little girl playing dress ups with her mum's stuff, and who went to bed with wet hair and slept on it at a funny angle.

*sigh*

I do have hope for the future! But it will be a laborious one.
I'm slowly learning that being alone doesn't necessarily equal lonely. It does at times. But it doesn't have to be all the time. And that is good :)

quoting

...I like to see people reunited... I like the hugging, the bringing together, the end of missing someone...

...how did I get here and how can I get back?...

...it was such a beautiful need, there's nothing wrong with not understanding yourself...

...it is war waged by humanity against humanity, and it will only end when there's no one left to fight...

...she wants to know if I love her, that's all anyone wants from anyone else, not love itself but the knowledge that love is there...

Up Loud and Incredibly Close//Jonathan Safran Foer

I still love this book, although it makes me feel quite melancholic. Or maybe I'm melancholic and therefore like the book? Either way.

new books

Trying new things. This book is captivating.

'Does it break my heart, of course, every moment of every day, into more pieces than my heart was made of, I never thought of myself as quiet, much less silent, I never thought about things at all, everything changed, the distance that wedged itself between me and my happiness wasn't the world, it wasn't the bombs and burning buildings, it was me, my thinking, the cancer of never letting go, is ignorance bliss, I don't know, but it's so painful to think, and tell me, what did thinking ever do for me, to what great place did thinking ever bring me? I've thought myself out of happiness one million times, but never once into it.'

- Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Jonathan Safran Foer. p. 17.
I have a million birthday photos I could put up here, but I don't know if enough people read this to warrant it. But have it be known, Thursday night at Burswood was wonderful. The rest of the weekend was nice too, with GHDs and cake.

I've realized that I seem to end up with a subconscious personal theme song on quite a regular basis. Does anyone else get this? Or is it just me? These last few days, a few lines have been circulating my mind that encapsulate exactly how I feel.

Maybe I'm just crazy or something. Who knows. maybe it's part of 19?

Some lame survey

Ten things you wish you could say to ten different people:
1. You are the best thing that could have happened to me; despite all the ups and downs, you are my best friend and I know the future will be good, we'll get there, soon. It'll be okay.
2. Thank you for word-loving, coffee-filled, lawbry-loaded fun times. You're fantastic. Rawr!
3. Dance with me lady friend!
4. I have a feeling this is going to be a mistake...
5. You make me feel at peace with the world; thank you for the happy memories, good talks, equal love of entire blocks of chocolate :)
6. One of my oldest, and most trustworthy friends. You and your brains amaze me!
7. Uni sucks, except for us. Yay!
8. Maybe, you should talk about something else. Just for once.
9. You had toilet paper stuck on your shoe, but I didn't tell you cos it was funny.
10. Just say it already!

Nine things about yourself:
1. I read, re-read, and re-re-read books. I rarely buy new ones. I rarely experiment with new ones.
2. My birthday night at the Burswood was wikkiiiiiid. Be jealous.
3. My least favourite body part on almost all people is feet. I don't mind if they are encased in shoes, but really, feet are so ugly. And toes.
4. I drink long macchiatos or lattes. No sugar.
5. Organisation is my spiritual deficit; I lose things, I forget things, I'm messy and colour and scrawl define my life.
6. Motivation comes, for me, in random bursts. Usually at inconvenient times.
7. I'm kind of bad at sharing the important things.
8. Choosing units is one of the hardest tasks I undertake each semester.
9. My dreams are so many that I can't keep them all in my mind, so I just hope that they'll come to reality and remind me that I achieved them, even if I can't remember knowing them in the first place.

Eight of your favorite bands/singers: (Expect this to be a conglomeration of every band you don't love, because I have a terrible taste in music)
1. Switchfoot
2. Israel Houghton
3. Death Cab
4. Coldplay
5. Kings of Leon
6. Damien Rice
7. The Beatles
8. Queen

Seven things that cross your mind a lot:
1. Maybe change is a good thing. Maybe not.
2. Where're my keys??
3. Maybe I should write a list of the things I need to do.
4. Maybe I should add some stuff to the list so I can cross them off, since I've already done them.
5. The last thing I remember him saying to me.
6. Law is lame.
7. What outfits I'll wear for the next week. I like to plan these things, so I have an outfit formulated in my mind to suit my mood.

Six things you do before you fall asleep:
1. Drink a cup of tea.
2. Brush the teeth.
3. Think of a fun sentence and translate it to French.
4. Decide on a completely new plan for the future.
5. Contemplate the people and how much I love them.
6. Set my alarm.

Five people, aside of family, who mean a lot to me at the moment:
1. The girls, for being amazing.
2. The boys, for being also amazing.
3. The Hush people, for making me good coffee.
4. The brother, for making me laugh.
5. The person that inspires me every second of every day to be better, and the best.

Four things you see right now:
1. A purple 80s stamp!
2. Op shop purchases: a dress, and some fabulous high heels.
3. White chocolate liqueur.
4. My giraffe.

Three songs you're hooked on at the moment:
1. Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
2. Warwick Avenue - Duffy
3. The Black Eyed Peas song, that is so freaking catchy it's not funny. It makes me dance in my car.

Two things you want to do before you die:
1. Discover something amazing.
2. Go to every continent.

One confession:
I'm a really good liar. Try catch me out.

Emily's Thoughts for a new week

* New study chairs definitely invigorate new study motivation! This chair is the best thing I've ever sat on. It has wheels :) and a high back! And a comfy back support! I'm so excited

* Studying in pyjamas makes Emily a happy happy girl :)

* Thursday night is Burswood night! Speaking of Burswood, the fam went to see the Queen tribute concert on Saturday night, oh my goodness it was amazing! I love Queen infinitely, and even though the band obviously wasn't Queen, there were times you could close your eyes and swear they were! The guy playing Freddie Mercury was amazinnnnnggggggg. That is all. And, Burswood buffet = AMAZING OMG. Anyway, Thursday night I'm staying overnight at Burswood with four of the ladyfriends, meeting up with others for dinner (come! You know you want to!), and generally enjoying an end-of-exam feeling and not-quite-yet being old.

* Hand-written notes make me learn better, but typed notes are soooo much prettier.

* All-time greatest chocolate is the caramel truffle at San Churros. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

* So You Think You Can Dance America started on Friday! Life has meaning and fulfillment again. I've noticed American shows are a lot meaner than Australian ones. They really rip into the contestants a little too much - like come on! They're trying! I ♥ TiVo even more now.

* Kikki-K had a fun sale! Stocked up on my uni stuff for next semester. It's depressing that I haven't even finished this semester yet. Two exams....

* Hush is my new regular cafe when I'm working. Best long macs in Fremantle. Go there. Enjoy.

* Multi coloured pens are a fun novelty.

* I'm officially an e-bay addict. Oh wow. I can't help myself.

* Next week is back-to-work semi-full-time week :( Lameo. I'm excited to learn some new things and be more accounts-y than reception/filing-y but still. I love free time. I'll just say good bye to it for four weeks. Ew.

* Renewing your license, passport and getting a Working With Children's Check is an expensive time.

Study time now... fun political rants later.

Sore fingers

I burnt three of my fingers while I was heating up my soup for lunch and now I can't type for more than two minutes without needed to put more ice on it :( This sucks!!

Monday, June 08, 2009

I am a sad girl today, I feel as though I've lost my identity. My ear piercing has chucked a sad and I can no longer wear any other earrings except boring, unnoticeable sleepers until it gets less painful :( I don't know what I'm going to do! Choosing my earrings was my favourite part of my day!

I'm so depressed.

On more exciting information, I had my first taste of gambling the other day. Lindsay urged me on, and we both managed to enormous profit of $4 (me) and $1.20, or maybe $2.20 (Lindsay). I can't say it's something I'd do super often, but it was super fun! Races are a fun way of life. Everyone looked so pretty :) It was kind of weird seeing work people not at work, doing the whole 'we're friends' thing, but it was also kind of nice :)

Endora was excellent and won at life.

Sam's birthday dinner was fun times :) I can't believe how many old friends I have now. I don't really like it :( Everyone stop growing up!

I have found my new ultimate makeup. I'm a bit scared to pay for it. But it'll be so worth it. It's unbelievable. Seriously. I'll show pictures when I bring myself to buy it. Which will probably be Thursday =D

Torts exam is FINALLY this Wednesday (thank goodness) so I'll have finally clicked into exam mode.

Life is so quiiiiiiiiet. Where's all the excitement already?

Pasta makes you warm inside

I just bought the most fabulous pair of boots. I really am getting addicted to buying things. What am I going to do when I don't have money any more???

This weather is simply fabulous for getting lots of work done. I'm looking forward to a productive night, fingers crossed. Does anyone have an opinion on the relationship between the media, candidate-oriented voting and voter attitudes? Call me if you do.

I've noticed my ears are getting colder very quickly. It is lame. How do you keep them warm?

Hush in Fremantle have the best coffee.

I have so many projects for the holidays!

FINALLY APPLIED FOR MY WORKING WITH CHILDRENS CHECK OMG IT IS SO FREAKING DIFFICULT

Bidding on ebay is fun!!

I love socks

And Arrested Development - I wish my name was Bob Loblaw. 'Why should you be punished for a crime someone saw you commit?'

Work is lame face. At least it's good for learning how to bottle your feelings and answer the phone with a smile.

Cleaning is SO LAME

I need a friend, who's free?

I have officially lost all faith in democracy.

I really really hope they have another daylight saving trial for the next decade until people vote it in.

How Emily Passes Her Time

I've rediscovered PhotoBooth the last few days. It is so much fun! Anyway, I have a one of my tutoring kids coming soon, so I don't have time-slash-can't be bothered doing any work in the next half an hour, so I thought I'd tell the non-existent internet world what's been a-happening, with some exciting photos.

1. Mobile Polling Fun Times

That was my sexy badge. I spent yesterday at three old folks' homes, collecting their votes for the referendum. It got me worried, some of the people who hold the power of democracy in their hands but can't even say what they're voting about! AH! However, some of the people were entertaining, some made me quite reflective and sad and others I just thought hardly deserved to vote. Oh well. One lady told me that bingo had been cancelled for the voting, but Knit and Chat was still on. Man, I wish I could go to knit and chat.

2. Prettyyy

To prove I'm really a grandma at heart, I have also been cross-stitching. It serves many good purposes. I have something to show for the time I'm not studying. It's easy. I feel productive. It's pretty. And... yeah. I can practice being a good grandma?

3. Writing Lists.

I got my exam timetable FINALLY. And it's actually great! Yay! So I feel much more relaxed about it all. I have the motivating stress not the paralytic stress.

4. Thinking about doing this...

My hair is now so long I can accidentally zip it into my high-waisted skirt. I'm still deciding what to do about that. I really love my long hair, but change isn't a bad thing. We'll see.

Anyway, I might go clean up a bit - soooo much to do tonight. I don't believe in Reflection papers. No siree!

retail therapy and libraries

I'm not shallow or anything *cough* but I do believe that the main way to turn a fairly dull day into a fabulous one is to buy something. There is no feeling like the feeling of having lots of pretty things stimulating the economy. After all, it is a time to take advantage of mega sales recession.

I had an incredibly productive day at the library which made me think maybe I should just move in there, I'd get so much work done. Then I went to Napoleon St, saw three fabulous school friends who I hadn't seen in FOREVER. Then, when heading home I saw a shop that I normally don't go in because cool people work there, but I decided I should have a look. And I found TWO beautiful beautiful skirts. I only bought one - the other is in my heart, but I can't bring myself to buy it because I know I'll only wear it once, and one wear for an $80 skirt just doesn't quite do it for me. But this other one is just perfect and I am officially in love with it. So now, I've had just about the most perfect day ever!

I have a really good feeling about life at the moment, which is a good change. It had been getting a bit dreary there for a while!

Anyway, another observation I made today is that there is nothing like coffee conversation. I think the caffeine might stimulate a better conversation than say, water. Also, there's a gym in Cottesloe Central which is just about the weirdest thing ever. I'd be too embarrassed to walk out, after I've been at the gym I'm as red as a tomato and a gazillion times as smelly.

I re-watched A Beautiful Mind last night and was reminded why I love that movie so much. My favourite line: 'You are my reason. You are all my reasons'. It is just so beautiful! Watch it if you haven't.

Well, I must do some more research (woooo online articles and 20-reference essays), eat dinner, then head to the Loft, a lovely place!
xoxo

I would like to say that the Book of Job is fabulous for putting your feelings of lameness and like you suck into perspective. I had a Godthing niggling in the back of my mind to read it last night and so I did; and wow did it clear up some of the ickiness I've been feeling of late.

Some things I've been up to:
* Procrastinating hopelessly. It's becoming a deadly cycle, but I'm determined to break. I only get one life!
* Planning life. I've had some inspiring ideas I'm quite excited about.
* Making this:

I started at Salty weekend. I think it's quite cute =D
* Going to the gym again! I finally got out of my gym funk today and I feel sooooo much better for it. Exercise is also a massive factor in making my mind focus and get over the things it thinks are bad.
* Saving! I'm proud of my discipline.
* Getting excited for this!

In case you can't see, it's tickets to the So You Think you Can Dance tour. It will be the greatest moment of my life.
* Meeting Chris Murphy. This photo was one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. Unfortunately, he's barely a celebrity. More of a semi-familiar name. But he was fairly entertaining.

* Seeing Fired Up and The Boat That Rocked. These two movies were awesome in two totally different ways! One rule for seeing Fired Up: take Jordan Holt with you. Or myself. Or maybe go with the two of us, and Emma, bcause we'd be the only other people in the world to appreciate it properly. Seriously.

Emily says...

Emily says to remind her not to try to be nice and offer her time to people who don't care about it.
Emily also says to remind her to not waste two days in a row of perfectly good study time.
Emily furthermore says that ugg boots are the best, and sleepiness can be quite a cozy state of existence.

Also! See The Boat That Rocked if you haven't already. Sooo much fun.

Big Question

Often I find myself pondering The Big Questions. Seriously. Questions like why the coffee at uni tastes best on a Wednesday and not a Tuesday, and which toilet cubicle has the best graffiti. Today I was thinking about this conundrum: when you say 'not bad', you mean 'yeah, fairly okay, edging on good'. When you say 'not good', you mean bad. Why don't you just say 'bad' or 'good'? Why do we waste a whole syllable saying 'not'?

See? Big Question. I told you.

A Collection of Things:

My status as a uni student is slowly being more confirmed, as I stay up until ridiculous hours to finish assignments due the next day, but only to go on Facebook every five minutes.

Salty Weekend was so fun! Two thumbs up. If I had three thumbs up I'd use all of them.

I've been so clever! I'm learning how to slowly be more time management-y - tonight is an exception. Four assignments on one day is daunting for any normal person.

Jordan and I are going to the So You Think You Can Dance Tour and TALIA WON. I picked her at the start! She's so fabulous

BOB IS MY NEW HERO!

Sneeze is my new favourite word.

Taboo is (Y). (Look how cool I am!)

Electoral systems are gay.

I'm reshuffling life plans at the moment, it's extremely exciting!

I miss people. Come back to me!

Almost time!

Change is in the air, i can feel it. Change, and cold. Lots of being cold.

Finally Salty weekend; I'm looking forward to getting away. Some time to destress, refocus and get rid of some unnecessary burdens.

Shall be goooood. I'm going to go rug up now cos I'm freezing again. It was warm two seconds ago!

*breathes in*

*breathes out*

*will not be frustrated/stressed/annoyed*

Went to a Salsa class today.... amusing times... my partner was the most Asian Asian I've ever met. And he tried to show me how he learnt hip hop off Youtube videos... Nawwww.... his acne-d face kind of let him down on the hardcore part of it. And his glasses.

Hahahhaha.

Sick Emily

My jaw is hating me so much right now; I'm stressed AND I have a cold. And one of those 'WE'RE GOING TO TAKE OVER YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM AND MAKE YOU FEEL SHITTY AND LAME FOREVER' kind of colds - my throat has almost completely closed up! It's ridiculous. So since I was completely unable to study, I've made the following two things the last two days. Laugh all you want, I thought it was fun =]

One of my favourite nouns AND verbs.

I'm sure there are prettier colour schemes out there, but this one reminded me of chocolate, so how could I refuse?

P.S. Rivers had $3 scarves - I think the sale lasts all week, go buy some. Mum bought me four! Haha :)
xx

Some videos...

This song is so haunting, it makes me almost want to cry. I'm not even sure why! I don't even particularly like Duffy! (The video doesn't really go anywhere though...)

And this is just absolutely amazing... even though I'm sure everyone's seen it a trillion times

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY&feature=related
(No embedding allowed apparently)

THIS DANCE IS SO FREAKING COOL

I can't find the other freaking cool one, but when I do I will put it up.

And this dance is so freaking cute!

*happy emily*

Woohoo!

Guess where JD and I are going!!!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Life is a little all over the place lately, but I have no doubt it'll all line up properly again soon. In the meantime, Salty Weekend's coming up, assignments are all nearly due and out of my hair, I found a pile more vouchers and I have a room to clean.

P.S. Bought the new Rob Bell book, looks awesome, AND SHARIF LOST 11.4kgs LAST NIGHT! WHAT A MACHINE! I LOVE YOU SHARIF!

Foot-release brakes

Our new Kluger is so enormous it hardly fits in the driveway. I have driven it twice now, and believe I am the master of big cars.

Big cars are good for: looking like a soccer mum; looking ridiculously small; realizing how small you are when the side mirrors become your blindspot; running over little kids; stealing spots because people are scared of you; looking important; using as both a vehicle and a house.

I've had some issues with big cars in the past. The one that stands out most in my memory would be the time I scratched and bumped a brand new Audi 4WD across two panels, and damaged the side so whenever you close the door the entire car rattles for a few seconds.

Luckily I wasn't fired.

But the thing that gets me most with these big cars is all the fancy stuff that comes with them. Most particularly, foot-release brakes. I feel extremely insecure without a handbrake next to me. It reminds me that yes I am driving a car and not an army tank, yes I have some measure of control over what I'm doing. BUT! New cars don't do handbrakes! You need to remember to put the footbrake (that sounds so freaking retarded) on, otherwise when you get of the car the whole thing wobbles and threatens to knock down your entire house.

I'm also not a fan of the whole 'oh crap I turned on the windscreen wipers instead of the indicator', but that's a dull rant for another day.

Hypotheticals

Hypothetical questions, and hypothetical scenarios really do my head in. Currently I have a hypothetical scenario for contracts that I'm negotiating for, and a hypothetical question for Torts that I'm providing an opinion on. I have lots of trouble differentiating between reality and hypothetical. I worry about things like whether I'm supposed to say 'I' or 'him'. I forget for a second I'm Emily and take on my hypothetical persona JORDAN. JORDAN wants a house. JORDAN is a study freak. JORDAN has a generous friend. JORDAN JORDAN JORDAN. Then I forget who I am! I'm so wrapped up in this thing I swear I have a BFF called Sam who is hyper rich and that I don't have to count every cent I have to make sure I can pay rent. AND That there's this guy called Anton with a wife called Ludwika who is suing the doctor and I have to keep reminding myself THEY ARE NOT REAL PEOPLE

It's really messing with my brain.

Fun fact: Going to the Mint tonight! Yay! And I bought Rob Bell's new book yesterday. Yay!

The Journal of Botany

You know it's time to get focussed when your To-Do list keeps getting longer instead of shorter!

It's Friday tomorrow and I'm not working! Yay! =] But I am studying. Studying really makes me mad. You know what else makes me mad? There is a Journal of Botany. What the heck. Who on earth would be motivated enough to write an article for the journal of Botany? Who would even care enough to think of making a Journal of Botany? The Botany department is OVER HALFWAY DOWN CAMPUS. It barely exists! THE JOURNAL IS COMPRISED OF OVER THREE HUNDRED PAGES. SHOULDN'T BOTANY LOVE TREES ENOUGH TO NOT WRITE SOMETHING THAT FREAKING LONG?

Whatever. It sucks to be them.

WHEEEEEEE

I can hardly believe it but I may just be sick of chocolate already and it's only Good Friday afternoon!

Blasphemy!!!

P.S. Anyone who thinks a three page assignment is sufficient is DELUDED! THIRTEEN PAGES AT LEASTTTTTTTTTTT

(All the sugar is going to my head. Guess what I did today? I made a wordsearch puzzle! I'm so clever!!)

Monday, March 30, 2009

Don'ts:

* Don't use an apostrophe before a plural s
* Don't support the Dockers because they often unnecessarily get your hopes up
* Don't buy a whole packet of TimTams because you will eat them all
* Don't paint your toenails, it makes them go yellow, and forms a vicious cycle
* Don't forget to print your assignment before you go to uni, where you don't have internet access

Twitter is great

Barack Obama and Kevin Rudd are my two new BFFs on Twitter.
How exciting!

P.S. Essays are lame, tea is great, I love cliches and lame jokes.

Saturday, March 28, 2009

As A Law Student, i can point-note what I say:

1. My law mentor is amazing. She is like a grandma, only has had every career in the world and knows good stuff.

2. I joined Twitter because I want to follow famous people. But I can't work out how to find any yet.

3. Tomorrow is Head of the River and basically the biggest day of my family's life.

4. Pretty high heels are my favourite.

5. But not as favourite as my new boots which are the most beautiful and well-priced footwear in town.

6. And just for fun, fmylife.com is actually a great time-waster. It makes you feel great about yourself

Communication

I've recently discovered just how much I fail at communication. I'm good at the quantity part, not so much the quality. And it always results in me feeling lame, and the other person probably getting a lot annoyed. Lame!

Life is almost scarily quiet at the moment. Weird.

A late night rant

Somewhere in my genetic makeup is a love of free things and bargains. It is so intrinsically programmed into me that I can barely stop myself when I see a fabulous bargain or free thing. And today was the perfect day for it! Whilst shopping for biscuits (as a true office wench does - by the way I bought $60 worth. The cashier looked at me with disgust, and I can hardly blame her), I decided to find some conditioner seeing as I'd used every last drop of conditioner in the entire house. And guess what I found! Pantene conditioning treatment for a heavily discounted price of $3.50. How could I say now?

So I bought some, of course.

Then tonight, after finishing work and having some hours to kill before meeting the loved ones in Fremantle, I wandered into Myer. I love makeup and I often covet after the free gifts - although of course, they mean you have to spend about $200000000 to get the free gifts, which is only achieved if you're Lindsay. (Lindsay if you read this, and to be honest considering the surprising amount of people who do you just might, you are the craziest bargain hunter I've ever met) HOWEVER, I am amazing BECAUSE - I found a really good value free gift! I had to spend $25.90 on ChiChi makeup to receive a free twister makeup thing, with a thousand eyeshadows, lip lacquers and blush for free - and it was worth $25ish anyway! AND, to top it all off, it is exactly the eyeshadow (Smokey eyes, for those who care) I've been searching for but didn't buy because it is a million dollars in Mac!

So basically, to sum up, I love fake-free stuff, especially when I don't have to spend a ridiculous amount to get the free stuff.

Wikkid... =] Also, made a great friend at work today, her name's Emma and she's from England on a travelling/working holiday. She joined us for dinner/fun times tonight. New friends are fun. The end.

Grumpy Emily is Lame!

For some reason I've been disgustingly grumpy lately. Sorry about that. To-do lists and difficult people make for grumpy Emily. BUT!

Change is a-coming!

And the reason why?

We're going to the Murdoch Vet Barn Dance night in a week! I'm so excited!

The Best Way to Finish Two Hours of Politics Readings:

It's harder than it looks! (it actually isn't, you just need to have a good letter-ed name) (English fail by Emily)
- Copy to your own note
- Erase my answers, enter yours
- Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions.
- They have to be real...nothing made up!
- If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers.
- You cannot use any word twice and you can't use your name for the boy/girl name question.
- Tag ten people. (Well loves, if you're reading this, consider yourself tagged)

1. What is your name : Emily (oohh, tricky start)

2. A four Letter Word : Egos (I totally don't have them...)

3. A boy's Name : Ebenezer (Scrooge!)

4. A girl's Name: Elexis (it sounds a bit like a poison doesn't it...)

5. An occupation: Exotic dancer or Endocrinologist (only slightly different fields...)

6. A color : Ecru (a pretty lame colour actually. Why don't they just call it beige? Oh right - cos then i wouldn't have an answer for this question. Although I could've said Eggshell. Also beige. Or Emerald.)

7. Something you'll wear: Earrings. Well that was boring. How about .. nah Earrings.

9. A food: I bet you think I'll say Egg. But no! What about Enchilada? Eggnog? (heh) Eclair?

10. Something found in the bathroom: Emery board, electric razor, earwigs...

11. A place : Ethiopia!

12. A reason for being late : Escaped from flesheating aliens

13. Something you'd shout : EXCLAMATION! I totally win with that one!

14. A movie title: Eastside Story

15. Something you drink: Everglade

16. A singer: Edwin McCain (he's a bit of a wuss)

17. An animal : Echidna

18. A street name : Emily Street

19. A type of car : (mitsubishi) Evolution

20. The title of a song: Escape (The Pina Colada Song!)

Well that was fun =D Bedtime!

The Most Depressing Way to Spend Your Weekend

Whilst I love being productive, studying is seriously lame.

Your back hurts, your fingers hurt from typing, your eyes hurt from reading/the computer screen, your brain hurts from thinking, your stomach hurts from random hunger...

Also it makes me really grumpy. Everyone should beware when I am grumpy!

But other than study I'm actually quite content.

The end!

Beige is a gayface colour

What is it with lecturers and tutors and the colour beige?

Every single day, my Torts seminar person, Ana, wears some variation of beige-with-beige. Beige blouse with beige pants. Beige dress. Beige blouse with beige skirt and a beige necklace. One day she wore grey pedalpushers and a beige top.

My French teacher wears beige or dark grey.

My contracts tutor/lecturer (she's the same person) wears beige tops and dark brown pants.

Is colour on strike at universities or something? I don't understand =[

In other news, I've made the grand total of four new friends at uni this year! It took me a whole year to make that many last year! I'm so proud.

And a depressing observation: whenever you want to go out and spend money, it's unlikely you'll find something you want to buy. So your money sits there taunting you in your savings account. BUT, if you have practically no money - there's A MILLION AWESOME THINGS AT THE SHOPS.
It's a cruel world really.
C'est vrai.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Fun things

I love cash-in-hand tax-free dollars. They warm my heart and fill my wallet.

I've found a French email-pal! It's very exciting - he lives in Paris and wants to improve his English, and I want to improve my French! It's a perfect relationship really.

I'm still basically all on top of my readings and lectures so far. I'm so proud of myself =D

Still salivating over Lindsay's amazing cooking the other night. Trust me, if you'd tried it you'd be as amazed as I am.

Looking forward to dance tomorrow night - although I still wish we could do some more exciting dances and make some more upbeat changes in our approach... change doesn't come quickly. Must be patient...

First official clarity night is tomorrow, and I'm interested to see how it goes. I often talk too much or not enough. I'm the two nasty extremes of bad tute people.

WebCT is gayface.

Coloured pencils make me happy.

So does having some friendly uni faces around the place - it's nice to have people to talk to.

I think a Sister Act marathon is needed. Is it still a marathon if it's only two movies? Maybe it should be.

Things to Share with the Internet

I have really missed shopping. Like real true shopping, not just looking around. It must be my absolute favourite pastime, aside from eating, and being with friends. This weekend I bought a new pencil case, a dress, some contact, a new eyeshadow brush, a green cardigan and half price earrings. Oh and an Ikea desk drawer set. I love spending moneyyyyy...

On the bus home from uni today, the bus driver seemed to take personal offence to that fact no one was smiling. I can understand that to an extent... everyone does seem to look a bit focussed and unsmiley when you're waiting for the bus. But it'd be exceptionally weird if everyone just stood there smiling. However, it was a bit weird when the driver would say to you 'What's wrong? Why aren't you smiling? It's a beautiful day!' I guess you can't really win.

Uni is my new best friend. We spend lots of time together, I'm constantly doing stuff to make it feel worthwhile, I always visit it... Best friends.

Lindsay hosted a dinner party at her place for the school girls and it was basically the most amazing food I've ever eaten not in a restaurant. And even including restaurants it was right up there. I think her dessert was better than any restaurant dessert I've eaten. And that's saying something.

I experimented at San Churros on Sunday, and got a raspberry smoothie chocolate thing, and it may just be blasphemy but I think it was better than their hot chocolates. Seriously.

So You Think You Can Dance and Biggest Loser are the two best shows on television.

I think we should do a gospel month at church. And only sing gospel music. I'd prefer a gospel year, but people might get sick of it.

I also miss 24/7 prayer. What happened to that?

Anyway, time to wrap that one up and get back to studylicious fun. Yay!

Insights

Being a Fresher is bad because you can pick them a mile away. They wear funny clothes and carry new-looking files. They try to subtly glance at a campus map because they're lost, but everyone sees. They stand in packs. They use cool uni jargon to sound like they fit in but it doesn't roll off the tongue very well. You recognize them from high school and mentally refer to them as the Year Elevens.

New units are fun. Contracts lecturers appear quirky so therefore somewhat interesting and adaptable to your lifestyle, despite being at nine in the morning. French requires too much concentration. Long breaks are dorky and lame. The freeway is your friend. New books are heavy. Meeting new people is nice but requires a lot of focus so you don't forget their names. Losing your pencil case is GAY.

The gym smells of old people. They have so much time that they are skinny because they can just live at the gym.

Hugh Jackman is my main man. I love him with all my heart.

I love IKEA as much as I love Hugh Jackman. I also love little perler beads too. They are my third love.

I seem to have a lot of loves.

Jewelry cleaner from Prouds is a mega bargain! Use it! Every day! Hooray! It makes your life sparkling fresh and brand new!

I dislike busses.

Breakfast Conundrums

If you think that you're going to be late for your bus if you eat breakfast at home, and decide instead to buy some when you get into work, do not make the following mistakes:

1. Walk all the way to Gloria Jeans and order a fabulous chocolate macadamia coffee latte something something, then leave
2. Decide to get a muffin from Culley's
3. Realize Culley's isn't open for half an hour, and remember you can't just be late to work because everyone thinks you're slack since you're the bosses niece and he lets you do anything you want
4. Decide you don't want to walk back to Gloria Jeans, so go instead to Dome
5. Buy a muffin from Dome, which is double the price of a Culley's one
6. walk off in a rush and spill your aforementioned chocolatemacadamialatteorangefrappaccino on your white skirt
7. Realize the muffin is about as old as your toenail polish and even more badly chipped
8. Be sadthat you are still hungry when you get to work.

The end.

Moral of the story: Dome has crap muffins, eat breakfast before you go to work, Fremantle is inconveniently laid out.

Psalms

Because I'm crap at life, I'm about five million chapters behind my MP3 girls in our Bible reading. But! As usual, God's pretty spot on with what he's doing. I was reading Psalm 26 today, and I was completely blown away by the courage and strength of character there was in the verse. Lately I'd been getting really frustrated at the gutlessness of Christianity - how we go to church, fill in our routine, smile a bit, be good, be nice, go to Maccas tick tick tick. Routine does not require courage. But the first verse of the chapter blew me away, because all it had was courage;

v1 Vindicate me O Lord, for I have led a blameless life I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Test me O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and mind; for your love is ever before me, and i walk continuously in your truth.

Test me O Lord? I barely have the courage to think those words. When I try to imagine God testing me just because, I get scared. To challenge him to do so? To invite testing? It is beyond my comprehension. I prefer to hide behind my moralizing and complaining, my belief that I am superior and my ideas are superior - what is an omnipresent God to that anyway. My character will never be strong enough to desire a testing that I have personally invited. To think of what Job went through without asking - to ask that into my life is impossible. Impossible because I know my faith and my ability to surrender my all to God is practically nonexistent, let alone being cool with whatever he threw my way simply because I know that above all, He is still God.

When I got onto Psalm 27 that idea really stood out - the fact that you can be fine with whatever, whatever tests and challenges come your way, because all your focus should be on is this (v.4) 'One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple'. And you don't achieve that by being happy with material things, or feeling like you have lots of friends - you achieve it by focussing everything on God, regardless of what else is happening.

And to leave you with my new all time favourite verse, which managed to pierce my heart; Ps 27:14 - 'Wait for the Lord; Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.'

Sorry this is so rambling - I just had so much to say I can't be bothered being coherent about it!

University is only two weeks away from FINALLY becoming a part of the normal routine again. Thank goodness!

Things that happen to Emily when she has no Uni:

* She becomes a fulltime office wench
* She wears high waisted black skirts and collects mail a lot
* she can never remember if she's supposed to answer the phone 'Wellard Group Emily Speaking' or 'Hello' and sometimes jumbles the two up together
* She thinks of lots of things she can do and instead re-reads a book
* She prints out all the photos she has on her computer and doesn't do anything with them
* She starts talking to herself, insisting that it's practicing French but really its to fill in the spaces
* She eats even more chocolate (if that's possible)
* She remembers strange things about uni such as...
- People look at you strange if you have any notebook other than Spirax and if you don't use a Macbook
- You go to the same cafe every day and the people still don't know what you order
- Tutors smell funny
- as soon as it hits quarter to, everyone is out of their chairs no matter what
- Catching the bus with those weird people who always stand in near the middle door and get hit but won't sit down cos they feel rude and also because they want to be first off the bus
- Catching the train, with people who have escaped from jail
- Rushing from uni to work/dance/French/other work/tutoring/social gathering (HA! I wish)
* She vacillates between tidy and messy

The end.

25 Random Facts

So I have been tagged in this Facebook thing that the ENTIRE FREAKING WORLD has done, and as I'm not one for putting 25 random facts about me on Facebook because ... hmm, I don't know, I just feel more comfortable putting it on my blog, as less people will read it.
Also, Facebook is gay. I'm only doing this cos I got kicked out of the family room.

1. My love and obsession with chocolate goes beyond all reason. I hoard the stuff in hidden spots throughout my room. I have easter eggs in my work desk. I don't rest unless I've had one chocolate-type food during the day. It is almost unhealthy. Well, its completely unhealthy, but the habit itself is almost unhealthy.

2. I have rekindled my love of making jewelry, and now have more bracelets than I could ever wear in my entire life. I was going to sell some, but I'm trying to justify the idea of paying to put them up for sale on the internet. What if they don't sell? Then I'm a billion cents out of pocket. Gay.

3. Photography fascinates me.

4. I have feet-o-phobia. I really really dislike feet. They are ugly. Toes are ugly.

5. I hate being lonely, yet often feel lonely.

6. I really want to paint, but it costs too much. Also I feel guilty taking up hobbies when uni consumes my life.

7. The gym is slowly becoming my second home, but unfortunately my chocolate addiction prevents any visible evidence of this.

8. Music snobs piss me off.

9. Whilst in Busselton I discovered a love of Chardonnay.

10. I am an office wench, and think of myself as superior to official office wenches because I KNOW that one day I will escape to bigger and better things. Okay, I'm a snob.

11. Dance and netball are two of my favourite things in the entire universe.

12. I love the idea of being organized and tidy, but can never bring it to actuality.

13. For some reason, I never close cupboard doors. Not my own wardrobe, not my cupboards, not the drawers to my clothes, or my desk drawers. This works to add an increased appearance of untidiness and disorganization to my room.

14. Jarrad's girlfriend, Ebony, has a little brother who has fallen in love with me. Can't blame him really.

15. I hope one day to be comfortable with my place in the world, and not get so annoyed with how much I fail all the time.

16. Clothes are my first love.

17. I write lists all the time, but never really follow through.

18. Heroes don't exist. People can't live up to hero status, so why bother having them in the first place?

19. One day I hope to write a book.

20. Colours are my best friend. Bright colours. Colours that make you happy.

21. The view from my bedroom window is my favourite view.

22. Travelling is one of my main ambitions.

23. I hope never to feel stuck in one place, but always be moving and being challenged.

24. The truth is often some that scares me, but I'm learning to say it more often.

25. I am sad because I finished all my caramel crowns and left my easter eggs behind, and now have no chocolate to eat today. Worst day ever!

:) Well that was fun. I might go make some more bracelets now and convince myself to bother putting them on ebay. Unless anyone wants some, although they're not the prettiest things I've ever seen.

February

February is my own personal New Year. I guess January always feels a little bit lost, especially when the things you focus on in your year, like uni and other things based around the school terms like dance, don't actually start till February. So Happy Fake New Year to you all =D

There are a lot of things I have observed over the past few days. Here are some of them:

* There is never a bad time for coffee
* Being a hermit is not necessarily a bad thing
* Cool people eat a lot of biscuits
* Sleeping in throws off your sleeping pattern
* Pathologists have really long waiting queues. I had to wait an hour for a two minute blood test. GAY
* Going out to dinner is one of my favourite things to do
* Making lists and not following through is one of my spiritual gifts
* I love the inspiration from other people's creativity, but I can't be bothered and can't be bothered funding a creative habit.
* Saving money feels good
* Making plans is fun
* So is buying presents
* MP3s are only effective if people are open and honest with each other
* Although i have a lot of pairs of shoes, I never have ones that match what I'm wearing
* I miss the friendos
* Catching up with people from old times is the best
* Not having to use conditioner is also the best
* Finding a book to reread is the ultimate best
* Soap operas are all the same: people are sad, people have profound things to say to each other all the time, often someone is sitting by themselves contemplating life and the world, and then someone comes and joins them and helps them through their tough time, everyone is cool, there are no more than eight people you are friends with, everyone does the wrong thing but always knows what the right thing is, and all issues of day-to-day life are dealt with in a checklist type fashion each episode. Oh, and they're all fantastic.
* Tivo is AWESOME. You find great shows that you would otherwise never know about and could never record because they're on at like, 2am
* Stationery makes me a happy person
* So does learning
* And being fabulous

The end!
