1.Have you ever thought about getting your nipples pierced?
That is a stupid idea.
2. Have you ever passed out on the bathroom floor?
No way Jose.
3. Do you start the water before you get in the shower or when you get in?
Um, before. Of course. Otherwise you might burn yourself.
4. Have you ever brushed your teeth while in the shower?
Yuck! That is disgusting!
5. Have you had more than 20 boyfriends/girlfriends?
Heck no! I bet they would all be really meaningful relationships too. Not.
6. Where do you put your towel after taking a shower?
Back on the towel rack, so mum doesn't get angry about dirty floors.
7. What color is your shower curtain?
I campaigned throughout our renovations to not have a see-through glass door on my shower. Or a shower curtain. We have a very non-see-through door.
8. Have you ever had stitches?
Yes. And they hurt much. Well, it was probably more the operation that hurt, but I totally blame the stitches.
9. How long ago did you hug someone?
This morning. So like, two hours.
10. Did you believe that girls/boys had cooties?
No, I always thought people meant 'cookies'. So I didn't see the problem. I wasn't the smartest kid going.
11.Do you know how to use chop sticks?
For like, half a second. Then I can't do it anymore. Forks are much easier!
12. Can you finish the phrase, “Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?”
Avril Lavigne can. Cos she's cool like that.
13. Do you sometimes believe that guys have PMS?
Oh my goodness, YES.
14. Have you ever given money to a homeless person?
No, but I have a sponsor child in the Philippines, and it is the saddest thing, I got a letter from them the other day and her dad passed away from a heart attack in April. As if their lives aren't hard enough.
15. Have you ever run over an animal?
No. I hate it when animals come in front of the car when I'm driving, I slow down mega. Pretty much the only time I do.
16. Do you think its right for straight guys to get their tongue pierced?
I think it's wrong for anyone to get their tongue pierced. It is disgusting, and you ruin your teeth. I'd rather my teeth than a manky piece of metal in my mouth, thankyou.
17. Where’s your favorite place to be in your house?
My chair in the lounge.
18. What’s your ALL time favorite song?
Well that depends on where I am, and who I am listening to it with. For example, I really really adore Hairspray songs, when there is noone around to laugh at my love for them.
19. Are you more of a coffee or alcohol drinker?
Coffee. I could do with some right now!
20. Have you ever thrown shoes on a telephone wire?
Can't say I have. I like my shoes too much. And I respect the fact other people probably like theirs.
21. Do you talk in your sleep?
Occasionally. I always get a bit paranoid about that.
22. Do you snore?
Very rarely. Only if I have been sick.
23. Have you ever thought about being a model?
Yeah of course. I'm so cut out for the whole looking vacuous and wearing clothes that noone would wear in real life thing. Or not.
24. Are you a redneck?
Can't say I embrace redneck culture so much.
25.Do you want to have children?
Of course!
26. Have you ever gotten a mosquito bite on your face?
Mozzies love my blood. Mozzie bites are the bane of my existence.
27. What are you afraid of?
Regrets, TEE results, my hands falling off and having no hair.
28. What does the 10th text message in your inbox say?
'I'll be waiting for you...'
29. What does the 10th text message in your outbox say?
I delete my outbox.
30. Do you sing in the shower?
I wouldn't say that is a habit of mine. I would rather keep the mirrors intact.
31. When your radio doesn’t work, do you hit it?
I don't own a radio. Although I hit the car radio sometimes, if I'm angry and the lights aren't changing.
32. Where is your brother right now?
He is downstairs, admiring the new barbeque. It's a bit weird, like all it does is cook stuff. But he and dad reckon it is our greatest new possession. Even better than the punching bag.
33. Last place you kissed someone?
Uhhh....the car
34. What is your sister's name?
You're assuming an awful lot - I don't even have a biological sister!
35. Last person you text messaged?
That would be Michelle!
36. What kind of phone do you have?
It is Motorola. And it drives me insane. But we will never part because it is a constant physical reminder of my dedication to Fremantle.
37. What color is your bedroom floor/carpet?
Manky.
38. Do you have a chair in your room?
I do. But it's not as cool as the chair I have downstairs. I love that chair.
39. What are you doing tomorrow?
Study, church, perhaps Maccas...see how it goes
40. Do you get along with your parents?
Yes.
41. Favorite band?
I'll always be a Switchfoot fan.
44. How many credit cards do you have?
Zero. I don't really like that sort of responsibility.
45. Have you ever wanted to be a teacher?
Yeah, and in a way I'd still like to. But I think there are other things I am better cut out for.
46. What’s your favorite color?
Green and blue
47. What does your mom call you?
Em. Or Lou. I'm not really sure why.
48. What does you hair look like right now?
It's clean! I washed it for the first time in five days!! (That is so disgusting, I know. It was like straw)
49. What have you eaten today?
Vegemite toast. Milo. And an apple. We're having a BBQ lunch soon which I can smell =] I feel so Australian.
50. What are you looking forward to?
TEE being finished, Leavers, Sydney, being in uni, etc. etc.
51. Do you have any tattoos?
I am morally opposed to tattoos.
52. Any piercing?
My ears, but that is all.
53. Hometown?
Born in Melbourne, bred in Perth.
54. Birthday?
21 of June. It is the shortest day in the year...typical =]
55. Have you ever thought you were going to marry someone you dated?
Bahhahaa nah!
56. Do you like someone?
I do not know.
57. Do you think they like you back?
=S
58. who is your last missed call?
Private. Awesome
59. who is your last received call from?
Private! Hahhaa.
60. If you could be any where in the world right now where would it be?
Everywhere!
61. Why are you doing this survey?
Certainly not because it was fun. It was this, or five thousand hours of politics. Or finishing my book. I think I might go that now instead.

Exams are bad
If you haven't done five three-hour exams in four days, then you do not know the feeling of absolute brain exhaustion I am experiencing right now. I feel as though my entire brain has deflated and is trying to escape from my head so it doesn't have to think anymore.
My hand has completely cramped up, I get dyslexic trying to use my calculator and putting my hair in a high ponytail makes me dizzy.
But other than complaining about exams (well, you didn't expect me to tell you that I've been having the time of my life, right?) there are some good points. Like the fact the discrete exam was Harry Potter themed. Or the fact that we could laugh at the ridiculousness of the Media exam.
But that's pretty much it. Everything else about exams sucks =]
But this weather is bright, and I've got sushi for lunch, so life does get better!

Today Tonight is the greatest
So, seeing as Today Tonight is the height of ground-breaking, investigative journalism, bringing stories that have impact and immediacy and etc etc, I figured I'd talk about the five minute segment I caught tonight. How, according to the excellent show's AMAZING research, they discovered five of the remaining competitors on Australian Idol are affiliated with Hillsong Church.
I know. Take a few seconds to wipe your forehead and breathe and absorb this scandalous piece of information.
The best part is yet to come. Today Tonight managed to put their fabulous intelligence to use and make the very logical conclusion that HILLSONG CHURCH IS OUT TO CORRUPT AUSTRALIAN IDOL AND TAKE OVER THE WORLD.
Yup. I know. Your world is falling apart all around you hey? You totally agree with what they're saying. I mean, Australian Idol isn't a corrupt competition all on its own. No way. And oh my goodness, Hillsong NEED to control the winner of Australian Idol, because whoever that is will BE THE BEST SELLING ARTIST IN AUSTRALIA FOREVER AND BE FOREVER REMEMBERED AND BOWED DOWN TO and of COURSE, EVERYONE WILL COME FLOCKING INTO HILLSONG CHURCH BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THEY ARE FROM.
It just gets more convincing hey? The pastor telling his congregation, or 'flock' as they like to call it, to vote for a particular contestant - heaven forbid! Showing support for someone? How dare they! Really! Just because they support the same views! I'm disgusted at the thought. Because the DIRECT RESULT of that support for a contestant will see them win the Australian Idol competition and become world famous and rich and brainwash Australia into becoming unthinking Christian automatons.
The best demonstration were the two people who Today Tonight interviewed. Really - they were brainwashed by Hillsong for EIGHT YEARS, all because they got involved with the church and couldn't think for themselves and have an opinion because they 'felt' Hillsong was telling them to do the right thing.
So, of course, this all means that Hillsong is a cult-like institution where the Pastors aim to take over the world through really important mediums like Australian Idol. They deserve to be locked up for such terrible views. Fancy a church choosing to support certain competitors on a semi-popular TV show. And fancy them telling the other people who go to vote for them. Because noone can think for themselves, no way. That is just a crazy thought.
I now have total faith in Today Tonight. I'm so glad they exposed to me this damning information, so I too can realize that Australian Idol and Hillsong are actually run by outerspace aliens who are really trying to take over Australia through brainwashing and cultlike practices. I'm going to start my own campaign to save everyone else before it is too late.

Hairspray

As totally uncool as it is to admit it, I pretty much loved this movie. I don't think I have heard more songs crammed into one movie. *sigh* Greatness to the max!
=[
Today I put on a skirt I hadn't worn since summer, and found a $5 note in the pocket.
That's about as exciting as my life gets =]

two days
Well, breathe easy everyone, I no longer look like a chipmunk. Yup, the horrible swelling has gone and even though it has left me with the grossest skin in the entire world, at least I no longer look like my face has been melted by a fire then injected with lots of air to make it puffy. I find that to be quite a relief!
There have been a lot of 'lasts' lately - last music rehearsal, last Chemistry test/Applic test/Lit Essay/History assessment/Media assessment/Politics Test, last debate, last double period, last Chapel service, last lunch ordering and so on. It's really not as sentimental as it sounds. It was pretty sad handing over Officials positions on Tuesday though - not that I'm sad to be rid of being an Arts Captain and having everyone hate you for being the bossy one, or for calling marching or being excessively organized and so on, but I'll miss the fun that came with all of that.
Two days left. Two days left of putting on grey stockings that have holes in the toes that cut off circulation. Two days left of learning things in class. Two days left of being really late to Politics. Two days left of looking all over the house for my tie. Two days left of skirts that come up to your armpits. Two days left of form with Mr. Diaz, the world's worst form tutor, who doesn't actually know what's going on. Two days left of loud and obnoxious lunchtime conversations, and being polite to teachers who actually know your name, and promising myself to clean my disgustingly gross locker, and dealing with the feral school bathrooms, and catching the bus, and hiding from the Death Table, and on and on and on.
Again, not really sentimental at all =] There are much more exciting things to be thinking about - like Father Daughter Dinner tomorrow night, the day we get to put down our pen after the last TEE exam (Lit!), Valedictory Dinner, Rottnest Leavers, Denmark, having absolutely nothing to do every day, and so on and so on and so on. It will be great!
Here's a fun tidbit to get you all thinking. Imagine you are heading somewhere to write an essay on a documentary you've just seen. And you see this statement: 'All documentaries have an ideological dimension to them, and are constructed within the context of a dominant ideology that is generally shared and understood by all members of the community'. If you can tell me what the heck that means, I'd really appreciate it.

Chipmunk Day 2
My eyes nearly swelled shut last night. That was fun! So, I still resemble a chipmunk, but with my eyes all squinty, there are many other politically incorrect things I could say about my appearance and what it resembles. But I won't, I'll just think them. Although to top off my blowfish face, I have a permanent red flush, which makes me look like I'm constantly embarrassed. Which to a degree I guess I am, because I look rather ridiculous!
I'm really just procrastinating, in case it wasn't obvious.

So I've woken up this morning and look as though I've had my wisdom teeth taken out again. My face is HUGE. And puffy and disgusting, to the point where I have LINES under my eyes because my cheeks stick out so much! It. is. AWFUL.
And the most annoying thing is I can't think of anything to blame for this except for maybe the (new!) Leavers Jumper, but that wouldn't make sense because it's only my face which has swelled to the size of a watermelon, or maybe some random bush or some bug that's bitten me in the night. And that very much freaks me out.
At least it's all summery weather now =]

I am bored.
Seriously, 100%, irrevocably bored.
Having convinced myself that since we get tomorrow off, I can do all my work then... there's nothing to do!

Eliot
I do believe T.S. Eliot and his (albeit at times depressing) poetry sums up Year 12 quite effectively. And, in some ways (although again, I hate to say 'totally' because I do like to maintain a happy outlook on life as much as possible) his criticisms of 'modern living' still apply.
For I have known them all already, known them all: -
have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with the dying fall
Beneath the music from a father room.
So how should I presume?'
---
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse'
- both from The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock

A Very Complain-y Post
You know, I really don't get why people ever pretend to be sick and stay home. Because this is the second day I've been at home in bed, and I am SO BORED. There is NOTHING to do, I can't study because my head spins, this is taking ages to post because I can only type four words at a time before I have to look away, and making something to eat requires too much standing up at one time for me to be bothered to do it. And (this is the nerdiest part) I'm missing school too. And a history assessment. Which is bad to the max. So I'll have to restudy it because I've forgotten everything in my excessive amount of sleep I've had in the last two days. And to top it off, our Finding Neverland DVD doesn't work, and that was the exact movie I wanted to watch!
Okay, I have finished complaining now.=] Back to sleep!

I'm sick!
And I have many people I can blame for it! This is a bad thing - sickness is NOT welcome at this particular time.
I have learnt a lot about the government and media exploitation this weekend. Which makes me sad, because really, as naive as it is, it's nice to think the government is blameless and completely democratic and so forth. But there isn't too much to complain about in this country, seeing as we have a pretty decent democracy and all things considered have it very very easy. But other than my quasi-political rant, which could be a lot longer, but honestly, I'm so apathetic I don't care, today is Fathers' Day! Which is awesome because we're going to Varekai tonight =D =D =D Which makes me uber excited. I've never seen Cirque du Soleil before, because when we went to Disney World you had to book tickets like eighteen months in advance, which is pretty tricky when you only book your trip six months in advance. But whatever. We saw the big tent which has an official sounding name but I forget what it was, and it looks amazing.
Speaking of amazing, Switchfoot = soooooooooooooo incredibly great! It was so surreal to hear all the songs performed LIVE. The only slight issue was being nearly killed from really tall jumping scary males who were waaaaaaaaaay bigger and waaay bigger than me! But we all soon got over that. It was actually so cool.
Much money raised so far by the awesome 40 hour faminers, which also makes me stoked. Able to feed STACKS of kids for a few months, and hopefully plant some lasting seeds in their community.
I think I want to work in International Relations. Politics and me are not the best of friends, but I've been doing some research on asylum seekers and refugees, and Jarrad's doing a Year 9 equivalent and it's really got me thinking about how globally we're supposed to help each other, but nationally we need to stick together and keep an identity within a country, and really, how are you supposed to find a balance there?? And someone has to, so I figure that can be me. One day.
First of September
September-like stuff...
It's down to four weeks left of official school.
28th September is the due date for TISC Preferences
Two preferences have been decided
They are actually the same thing
Leavers Ballots due on Tuesday
I think it is time to go shopping
And get a haircut
This is a mundane post
It is the last round of the AFL home-and-away season =[
IGSSA dance was good - no more dancing now =[
SWITCHFOOT WERE AMAZING TO THE MAX
Father Daughter Dinner is soon!
Homework begins soon
Having your license is sometimes good and sometimes overrated
Life is good

Midterm Breaks are Good yes =]
To celebrate being on 'holidays' as we call it, but really being on a far-too-short break, we decided to venture to Flipside since two others got to re-experience the ball! (Well, the Wesley one, anyway). It took a bit of adventuring to get there in the end, and Lindsay and I were able to go to Fremantle twice, Canning Highway, Stirling Highway, nearly reach Mosman Park then FINALLY realize we took the wrong turn WAAAAAAAY back. And then arrived. It was rather exciting. But the best bit (of course) was eating. Then today I went back to Winthrop and visited all the important year twelves being all important and grown up in their common room - *sigh* those were the days. I mean, at Winthrop, not being in year twelve, since I also get to experience that craziness myself! Just at a different venue. But everyone was so grown up and important! I like the fact they all go in the Common Room, too. That was pretty cool. Seeing as only a few go up to ours, and the rest of us only use it for heating-food-purposes. Anyway, it was nice to see them all again...and that'll be the last time I see all those people in the same place again! *sigh* How sad.
So I've rambled pointlessly enough, and I think there should be a point to the fact I'm posting.
So... My point...
I like holidays. I also meant to say I did actually go to the Mrs. A meeting, where I asked her for ideas of other preferences. Her suggestion was 'Urban and Regional Planning'. I laughed. But on the inside so I wouldn't hurt her feelings.
But seriously??? Urban and Regional Planning?? Do I even do Geography? Does Law/Arts have ANY correlation with that degree? Is she insane? Yes. Yes she is.
=]
There. A point!
So I've rambled pointlessly enough, and I think there should be a point to the fact I'm posting.

Yes. Yes she is.
=]
There. A point!

nothing really important to say
I am so undedicated to my future it's not even funny. I even forgot to go to the totally informative and really indepth one-on-one meeting with Mrs Arrowsmith, who holds the least important employment position I can think of! She is who keeps the school email service functioning, seeing as she's the only one who uses it. But aside from skipping my absolutely vital and real eye-opening meeting about what she believes I should do next year, because she knows so much about me, it doesn't matter because I've decided anyway! If I get the required 97 ++ in the TER, which should be doable unless I die or something before TEE exams, it will be six years of university goodness for me - Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and French. Unless I change my mind. But that is on the cards for now!
Otherwise, this week has kind of floated by nicely, and once Chemchem friendo is over tomorrow, it's midterm break and time for all the last minute study I should have been doing =] Happier news - while two friends dress up to look lovely and spend the night at the ball, the rest of us are visiting Flipside. Because many haven't ever experienced its well-talked-about glory. And I feel it is about time. Besides, I'm in a real burgery mood. Mmmm =]

exciting weekends...
I've fallen a little behind on birthday shoutouts, so here's a catchup!
CAT WALL

officially turned 17 on the 4th, which is all very exciting and good, and much fun hopefully for the big Pizza Bellaroma dinner on Saturday.
LINDSAY SCOTT

also officially turns 17 tomorrow... which is also all very exciting and good. And she will get her license and we will both be independent, free people who never ever need to call for lifts again. Hooray!
Otherwise, world's most exciting weekend of fun coming up.
I love weekends!

Russian Revolution: as fascinatingly interesting as you are... I really don't care right now. I don't care that there were catalysts to the critical period of a revolution, I don't care how the revolution gained legitimacy, I don't care how the supporters or opposition were suppressed or empowered and most of all I really don't want to write notes on all of it.
But I will.
After I procrastinate with Applic!
In other news, Annie was amazing! Personal favourite things:
♥ Hannah Somerville's (Annie) singing
♥ Caeley as Lily St. Regis
♥ Drake the Butler (strangest voice EVER)
♥ the great but always unrecognized musicians
♥ Usherette tapdancers
♥ Jackie as Grace Farrell
♥ Jessie with blonde hair
♥ The orphans performing 'Hard Knock Life'
It is once again Sunday, and similar to last week I've left everything I need to do until today. Yup. Clever girl =] And it's the Derby! I am rambling. To continue my rambling, I'm going to tell you I saw License To Wed yesterday. It was rather funny! I think I learnt the wrong lesson, but I don't really care... from that movie I learnt DO NOT GO TO WEDDING LESSONS WITH A REVEREND WHO WILL TAKE OUT A SURVEILLANCE PROGRAM ON YOU. DO NOT GO TO WEDDING LESSONS AT ALL. Or the alternative lesson is 'make sure you really love the person you're marrying'. Which is pretty important too. But still...no Reverendspying. Ever.

Frankenstein
I always find it amazing how texts from hundreds and thousands of years ago still manage to capture the essence of human life apparent today. It's amazing how even in a Gothic text published in 1831, Mary Shelley pinpointed the underlying desire of all people...
But I have one want which I have never yet been able to satisfy; and the absence of the object of which I now feel as a most severe evil. I have no friend, Margaret: when I am glowing with the enthusiasm of success, there will be none to participate in my joy; if I am assailed by disappointment, no one will endeavour to sustain me in dejection. I shall commit my thoughts to paper, it is true; but that is a poor medium for the communication of feeling. I desire the company of a man who could sympathise with me; whose eyes would reply to mine. You may deem me romantic, my dear sister, but I bitterly feel the want of a friend. I have no one near me, gentle yet courageous, possessed of a cultivated as well as of a capacious mind, whose tastes are like my own, to approve or amend my plans. How would such a friend repair the faults of your poor brother!
- Letter from Robert Walton
Frankenstein
Okay, so slightly more morbid than you'd think, but it is a Gothic novel. Anyway, I reckon it's amazing that she could have detailed the feelings all humans have at some stage - the desire for companionship from those like themselves, to better oneself and to better the other, growing together and helping each other. Pretty awesome stuff.

This used to be me a lot. I'd always practice what I was going to say, how I was going to say it, to make sure I didn't make a fool of myself or embarrass other people or made others laugh or managed to disguise myself so people would like me more. But it's a lot harder than people give it credit for. I finally started holding conversations in person I hadn't held in my head first, and that's the same time I started finding out who my real friends were. I never realised how true it was when good old Uncle Col said what comes out of your mouth is often a true reflection of who you are.

good intentions
I started this week so full of good intentions!
'I will try harder at school.'
'I will actually do my Applic/Chem/Lit/Media/P&L/History/Discrete homework.'
'I won't get below 80 anymore.'
'I will smile smile smile'
'I WILL NOT LET THE ENORMOUS PIMPLE CONQUER MY FACE'
Yeah, so much for that my friends! Homework tally = zero, effort tally = bordering on one in terms of signing to authoritize the fact that yes,I really really am doing TEE, fear tally = steadily rising everytime I look at the TEE timetable, happiness tally = actually quite steady, except for moments e.g. aths carnival and total lack of enthusiasm/support. (Actually come to think, we did quite well! Final placements: 1. Fitzroy, 2. De Grey [yay!] 3. Gascoyne 4. Blackwood)
So, although I haven't yet lived up to good intentions...I WILL TONIGHT! JUST YOU WATCH!
Good news tally: 1

point of difference
this is redemptions hour
in the midst of a world lost for love
You are all we have now
the lost returning
salvation is all around
in the midst of the world broken down
You are all we have now
for You are God and this hope is ours
so Father open the skies
flood the earth with Your light
this is love
to break the world indifferent
our hearts are burning
a fire that won't burn out
in the midst of a world that's grown cold
You are all we have now
the earth resounding
the anthem of your reknown
as we lift up our eyes
and look to Your glory
call us out
let the world see
You are God
and this hope is ours
so call us out
let the world see
You are God
one and only
in this world
You are all we have now...

athletics carnival
No more house events ever!!! How sad. Well, there's House Quiz, but somehow that's not so important...
Anyway, despite the fact that over half the school are SLACKERS and DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO TURN UP AND SUPPORT THEIR HOUSE, it was a fun fun day. So many lollies =] And the only event I was in we got disqualified! How's that for achievement???
Well done De Grey =]

It's finished...

So aside from the epilogue, which I think was supposed to give closure but really actually ruined the whole book - wow. I'm going to miss Harry Potter =[

401

Happy 401 post m'dears! That is a lot of posts. However, I felt it important to make sure I commemorated this auspicious occasion at a time when I feel completely content with the world. Some reasons for my feeling of contentness:
.: The feeling you get from feeling absolutely no guilt in buying stacks of new clothes
.: The feeling you get from being with new and very awesome friends
.: The feeling you get from knowing you're legally granted driving independence!
.: The feeling you get from wearing ugg boots & PJ pants (ahhh I miss camp where it was socially acceptable to do this in public places)
.: The feeling you get from getting really really sticky hands when making rum balls
.: The feeling you get from getting along really well with siblings
.: The feeling you get from hanging out with friends who you know will always be by your side
.: The feeling you get from finding things you've been missing for aaaages
.: The feeling you get from turning up music that gets you deep down and singing really loudly
.: The feeling you get from dancing alone in your room to really ghey old songs (which is also similar to the feeling you get when dancing with the stationery moves - try them some time =])
.: The feeling you get from knowing many many many years of school are nearly over
.: The feeling you get when you see a really and truly beautiful scene and it makes you smile to the max
.: The feeling you get from big warm hugs
.: Text messages of love, phone calls of love, myspace messages of love, spending 45 minutes talking to someone when they should be working (sorry Kattyo!) - communication pretty much always = content.
Hooray for the feeling of content. =] And hooray for black and white photos too. Ooohhhh yeah

momentum camp
Feel the force
fight for His cause
Momentum, we're moving on
Momentum
Camps are always pretty great, and this one was yet another great camp in my history of camps. I must say, I've been basically raised on camps. Although, it also showed me a lot about where I need to be going - I can't wait to be a leader, and get a chance to bond a lot more with the awesome younger people coming through. What limited knowledge I have, I really want to be able to pass on to the wikkidly cool kids coming up through youth.
Mega love for this girl too - without her, I don't know what I would've done. God blesses us with awesome people in our lives, and this one sure is one of them. Ily Lauren =P
In other news, yes, I am home =P Our house is gradually nearing the finally finished stage of *gasp* PAINTING. It looks so happy =] There are mega loads of homework to do, relaxing and reading to catch up on, and guess what I spend my first proper day of holidays doing? Yep, you guessed it... cleaning. Lots and lots of cleaning. Most of the things I used to put things down on (hence the excessive messiness of my little space in the house) have been confiscated... well taken away. So I'm left to fit stackloads of crapola into what is left of my storage space! No fun, I declare. No fun at all. And yesterday totally didn't happen, in terms of football. It was all a dream. A really really bad one.
I really really miss waking up with hundreds of people around to go talk to and try not to wake up and hug and throw things at and complain to and laugh at and with and sing with and question and all the millions more things we do when we're surrounded with people. I went to bed last night still hearing Nicole and Ebony and Leah in my mind laughing and saying crazy crazy things, and Kirby laughing and Claire swooning after Geoff and Ruth talking and Kim laughing and Tamika yelling out 'In my pants!' Was pretty blessed to share the last six days or whatever with these girls.

(just slightly) annoyed...
* last ever shift, no reference or group certificate waiting
* family free enough to make sushi and paint the house, but not take me driving to finish off my hours
* still can't use the stupidly huge bath
* camera is being temperamental
* dropped phone (again) so isn't really working
* tea just burnt my tongue
* feel stupidly full
* camp in two days and definitely not ready for that one

* I can't see Blades of Glory because chemistry teachers suck and put tests on the last day
* My form room is now even further away from the rest of the school. It is like no-mans-land or rejectville

* ZYLLEE OWNS BLACK FLATS! Yes! flats! it's a WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD
* There was precisely two saxophones in Concert Band. As opposed to the usual sixteen
* Jodi Picoult writes good (if not excessively similar) books
* Three and a half hours till P plates!
* Studying politics is the easiest and most efficient way of turning you into a boring person with ABSOLUTELY NO LIFE. ESCAPE NOW BEFORE YOU FALL INTO THE TRAP OF CARING WHO KELLY HOARE (hehehehe Hoare) IS!

Fools!
So Today Tonight seems to think it a totally valid claim to say that Hillsong is out to manipulate the charts. That it's all about money. That SOMEHOW, the only focus of the whole situation is to be #1 on the music charts and to kick out all opposition. I have never been more disappointed in current affairs shows as I am right now. SO WHAT if Hillsong is a 50 million dollar corporation? SO WHAT if they are allowed to sell their CDs outside their concerts? Do people REALLY THINK that Hillsong is purely about selling another record? And okay, maybe to an extent it is. But the motivation behind it? Not 100% for making a little more profit like every other artist. More like trying to show people another way of life. And I guarantee you, if a Buddhist or Muslim group did the same thing as Hillsong, we'd NEVER be allowed to criticize them.
This blog has become rather a ranty one. I'm sorry!

trying

I think I've started to lose sight of what the 'right' thing is. Or maybe the idea of 'right' is getting warped as I get older. I do try to balance and compensate and find the perfect solution to every problem which makes everyone happy, but I think that's impossible. I wish I could though. I wish our biggest problems were who got to use the pink crayon (ahhh babysitting =]) or whatever. But it gets complicated. I just wanted to reassure everyone I'm trying, and I haven't finished either. I'm doing the best that I can.
(seriously excessive use of personal pronouns in this post!)

perseverance
The strangest thing about this whole Christianity thing is actually working out what you're SUPPOSED to do. And the weirdest thing is, once you sift and sort through every last little doctrine and rule and sermon and homily and verse of the Bible and what have you, there really is only one thing you're supposed to do. And that's believe in Jesus. But even that one 'supposed to do' thing is so incredibly difficult.
People pray it all the time. Someone will give a powerful message, invite people to come to Jesus and BAM you have 50 000 lives 'saved'. Saved? I don't know. Maybe those lives have been momentarily dazzled, or indirectly misled or even just confused into thinking this Jesus person is something He's not. Some Saviour (which he is), but one that will leap down from earth and give a reason to random circumstances and magically cure you from cancer and the list goes on.
And even so, the ones who GET IT, the ones who've been living it and knowing it and just going through it or putting up with it or however they're dealing with this information/belief (depending on your choices) still get confused. What are we SUPPOSED to do? Okay, just believing this one person doesn't seem to be enough. Everyone talks about reading your Bible (you SHOULD be reading your Bible everyday) and praying (but even then, is prayer PRAYER or is it some big long wish list you send upwards every night in hope it'll come true?). So are we SUPPOSED to do that too? I think the fact is life's gotten so complicated that the whole perserverance thing is just lost. We try, we don't get, we give up.
And is that okay? Didn't the world teach us that? Well, didn't the world teach us that looking good is all that matters? That if you marry someone but they annoy you, you divorce? That if you fail you are miserable and worthless and to just get out of everyone's way?
So, the world has pretty much messed about with our minds so much that we've lost a clear sense of where this is all going. It's probably come to the point where Jesus is a little cloudy in our understanding of him. Through language and powerful words and the fact that slowly but surely, we're becoming more and more sheep-like, looking for someone to follow, and not think for ourselves. But basically? I reckon it all stems from love. If you love this person you believe in, if you actually, truly love Jesus, the other 'supposed tos' aren't 'supposed tos' anymore. They're just things you do because it gives you a chance to be with this person you love. And I'm not saying I'm any good at this at all. I reckon this is where the hardest part of being a 'Christian', whatever that label actually means, is. That as simple as it sounds it's quite possibly the hardest thing to do. And also provides a lovely grounds for atheists or whatever to say 'why believe in something you can't see?'
Why not?
And I'm not saying I'm any good at this at all. seventeen!
Although the whole 'feeling older' part of being seventeen hasn't quite kicked in yet, it has been a very awesome birthday. A nice, easy, relaxing birthday!

and

from the parents, which was pretty amazing!

from Jarrad, which was pretty impressive, considering his highly male nature.
And other than the material parts of birthdays, millions of texts/phone calls from people I haven't spoken to in aages which was great! And dinner tonight with the church girlies, sleepyness next week with others, and generally lots of rain which means happy gardens and dams for Perth.
Seventeen is great =]

rant to the max
I'm not a fan of this new-age generation of sad people.
Brad told us last night that it is predicted in about 2020, there will be a phenomenon of world-wide depression, because of this conspicuous consumption era and ridiculous increase in materialism that has led us all to be mass consumers, buying things for the sake of buying, building up more and more mortal treasures which will expire and ultimately do you little good. Ultimately, we've lost sight of who we originally were, what we originally would strive to achieve, the lifestyles we wanted to lead. Now, we focus more on the tangible than the intangible. What kind of grandparents will we be, when now we look at our grandparents who espouse wisdom and practicality, and this generation will be self-focussed, self-obsessed unwise individuals who couldn't for the life of them understand how to put others first and slap on a happy face in order to bring happiness to those around them?
It worried me last night when I saw people showing up tipsy to a place where God is meant to the be focus, and to be honest, he doesn't need the distortion of alcohol to be appealing. If we, as a generation, can't learn from the unconditional love shown to us by our parents and grandparents, and by God, we've created a serious problem for the future. And really, making public your 'sadness' and your 'depression' just creates an identity you don't want. And eventually, one day, you'll look at yourself and realize all the happy things you passed up for the attention of being 'sad'.
We need to grow up a lot before we earn a right to say we are the future and we can change the world for the better. Right now, all we are is the future who are seriously jeopardizing the future psychological state of people.

seven is the magic number
1. The GAT test is an interesting concept. For those of you who have never sat one, you'll never know what you're missing out on!
2. Precisely 12 hours and 10 minutes before the P-Plates are mine!
3. The Russian Revolution consisted of many revolutionaries
4. Organizing secret surprises are fun to the max
5. Headbands often dig into the side bits of your head
6. St. Hildas netball is actually quite depressingly bad
7. Grandparents are home!

A bit of betterness
A bit of disappointment (exam)
A bit of saying the totally wrong and inappropriate thing without meaning to
A bit (or a lot!) of happy downtime

hello June the first
Today I:
* Did one Applic practice exam paper
* Slept in
* Sat around a lot
* Read a book
* Watched some chaser
* Drove to woop woop
* Pretended to do more study
* Ate pizza
Today I wish I'd:
* Studied more
* Done some history notes
* Apologized
Today I found out:
* There is only one week to Sammy's eighteenth
* Twenty days till I turn seventeenth
* I need to learn directions
* Lizzii's Snail in the Bottle video clip is the greatest P&L study method ever
* A messy room is actually kind of annoying (*gasp* did I just admit that???)
* I lost my really really expensive jewelry =[
Today I decided:
* Change is bad (take that 'Storm Warnings'!)
* I need to get around to choosing what I want to apply for at university
* it is time to realize quitting Brumbys might be a good idea
* Media is silly
* Chasers is good
Today is:
* the time to fix things
* the time to get new shoes (well...eventually)
* the time to clean up my room
* the time to get new jeans
* the time to stop procrastinating

exams do not deserve a clap
Chemistry = death in paper form
times ten to the max plus one!
*sigh* But yes, it is all over and we never have to think about it again, until that horrible Monday morning back when they give back the exams with that disappointed look on their face... which is why I'm taking lots of TimTams that day =]
But in other news, 19.5 hours to go and we found microwave spaghetti! So all is wonderful and happy. And I've decided I really really really want to learn how to paint in 3D!
How cool would it be to walk in to someone's room and the walls like jump out at you with a picture of something. I haven't decided what something.
But something 3D.

revealing some cool stuff
I think I found out tonight what it actually means to let God speak through you and not try clog up what he has to say with your own personal judgments and ideas and opinions. It was freaking me out what was coming out of my mouth, because it was nothing like what happens when I talk just myself. It was actually really cool. It's amazing to think that God can use you to not only help someone else through what they're going through, but to knock your head on straight and realize that by stepping back you don't have to have complete control, and you'll do a damn sight better job if you're not in control.
Yup.
Yup.

Pictures of goodness

Passed!

Ridiculously goodlooking lunch (although mine wasn't as good looking as that picture)

Not one, but FOUR long, catchyup phone calls (which meant no study. Wow, I'm so upset.)

New car to be shared with the mother, POTENTIALLY looking like this one. Not entirely sure. But hatchback and silver and Corolla, it'd have to be the same right?

Nutella sandwiches. Best ever.

Look familiar? But so, so easy to do =]

This made me sad. Because last night (whilst procrastinating) I found so many pictures of my Grandma, standing by herself, with all her hair, looking aware and alive and real. I don't even remember her not in a wheelchair or in a hospital bed, or with all her hair. But her eyes were still the same. I can still remember her eyes the last time I saw her. You could see that somewhere under all the medical problems and sedatives and painkillers and fear that she was still the same person as ten, twenty, seventy five years ago. And she didn't ever want to give up. But I suppose we all do sometimes.

stolen!
Kat Bowden lives here, and I'm taking on her idea of recognizing my *insert number here* commandments...
.: Love, don't judge
.: Try to hold back from advice-giving when listening if it's obvious you won't be able to help in that way
.: Live in reality
.: A clean room is an unproductive room
.: Decoration is inspiration
.: Chocolate at any time is good
.: Remember to say 'please' and 'thankyou'
.: Put 100% into what you're doing
.: Friendos come first
.: But study comes first-er
.: Be your best
.: Find small ways to make someone's day better
.: If in disagreeance with something, don't bring it up unless it gets to the point of ridiculousness
.: Happy music & Happy movies
.: Don't wait till a Birthday Card to tell someone how awesome they are
Something I aim to do: Don't try to hold on to the past when it is time to move on. But keep those links!
...But thoughts they change and times they rearrange I don't know who you are anymore...

lit essay update number one
Poetry oh poetry
How writing an essay about you
gives me a headache
Personification and metaphoricisation
Simile, imagery, onomatopoeia-y
Adrienne Rich (a separatist, feminist, lesbianist poetist) **
your poetry does not make me happy
Political commentary
Through personal lifery
Is silly
Poetry, oh poetry
Go away
So we can go and drink mocha
**I am not being derogatory here. It is an actual fact we need to state in our essays. Except we can't add 'ist' to the end of everything. But it might be worth a try? But I just wanted to clear that up. I don't, as a general rule, label everyone.

dragging along
One more day till the longest week in history comes to an end.
I feel much like I've been hit by a truck. Except without the pain and broken limbs and all of that other stuff that comes with being hit by a truck. Just the kind of impact of a really really heavy force. Similar to a truck.
Yes.
Today was kind of a weird one, as far as days go. It was a Thursday masquerading as a Friday in terms of weather, stress level and so forth. Which made it quite depressing knowing that in FACT you STILL had to live through another day before Friday night (the greatest night of the week) arrives and you can just die quietly in the waves of relaxation coming your way. Not that this weekend is going to be all that exciting, just running the usual way plus a few thousand extra hours of study for exams. But I like weekends =]
The parentals bought a new car last night! Hooray!! It means I will officially be able to drive one of the cars in our driveway without failing at hopelessly at working out WHY there needs to be a clutch. It also means the lovely aforementioned parentals pay for car maintenance, as it is technically theirs. =]
Lots of happy friendos of late =]

economy, hey?
So, after today's fun reflection in History-Essay form on the Australian Economy from 1945 to 1990, I got thinking about the whole economy thing.
It's one of those words that you've just got to drop in to a conversation if you're discussing politics and trying to sound like you know what you're talking about. Along with other statements like 'Industrial Reform' and 'Johnnie Howard'. Often, the conversation will go, 'Yeah, Johnnie's doing a pretty alright job of the economy, although that Industrial Reform, with those AWAs and people getting sacked, they're not too great. But then Ruddie doesn't seem to have any better ideas. And he might not know what to do with the economy. But mate, what'd you think of the footy?'
So really, the point I'm trying to make is, an essay on the economy really is quite pointless in the scheme of things, because nobody knows what it ACTUALLY MEANS. IT IS JUST A MYTHICAL WORD PEOPLE USE TO SOUND SMART.
Although I'm sure if I still had Natey's Mac, I could look it up in it's fancy dictionary and give you a definition. But we wouldn't understand it anyway, so we'd just use it the same way we always do. 'Economy's looking great mate, I don't need to vote for noone'. (Double negative intended).
Current addiction: Mocha.

things i can do:
1. Parallel Park (for this moment in time - maybe not in a moment of time in the future, but right now I can)
2. Give really really really good dizzy whizzies to Macy
3. Write lots of lists
4. Make my room comfortably messy
5. Choose the perfect combination of sauces for kebabs
6. Get lots of black electrical cords all tangled together so there's a spaghetti like mixture of cords on my floor which leads to me always plugging in the wrong thing and unplugging something that needs to stay plugged in
7. Spend lots of time playing around with my photos
8. Spend lots on superfluous but very cheap stuff
9. Wear mismatching earrings and get away with it.
10. Lose Blu-Tack
So with all these skills, there is no need to worry about not being able to write a good Lit essay or properly balance a redox equation to use for back titrations calculations, or use the Matrix Inversion Method.

overthinking, that there's just too many scenarios
Relient K gets awfully stuck in your head.
Aside from this pointless point, I decided to make a list of what I am doing as opposed to what I'm actually doing.
What I am doing:
* absolutely, gloriously nothing
* making a list of what I'm doing instead of what I should be doing, which is one of hte things I shouldn't be doing but I am so I won't be doing the stuff Ishould be doing
What I should be doing:
* Chemistry study/revision
* Media folio writeups
* Cleaning my hellish tornado of a bedroom
* Doing my Applic Homework
* Sleeping
So now I've made that fascinatingly informative list, I'm going to go and maybe start on one or two or twelve of these things. Good night all =]
(As a side note, I miss you)

umpiring!!
I love umpiring, I really do. And I love netball, no matter how many people pay it out for being an over-regulated girls' sport. But I think it is incredibly, incredibly strange when a male is involved in netball, particularly when he umpires. And when he's a better umpire than you, that's just depressing.
Nah, not really =) Chris or whatever his name is was cool. Just very very intimidating in his not-so-manly manliness, seeing as he was manly when he played netball. I find this odd. I'm probably the only one.
Media mark = 7.5 ... can't be upset with that!

the night air breathes, but not so easy as before...
Media is done!
Done, done DONE!
What a lovely feeling. And the advantages of doing something 'symbolic' - it's unbelievable, I tell you. Easier to 'reflect' on, to manipulate, to throw in random things that don't make sense, and say it's all about the audience creating meaning from it...
I've decided the best thing you can ever do is just take things as they come. You don't get disappointed. But it's a lot harder than it sounds to happen.
So aside from all this Confunciousy (or whatever that guy's name was) talk, I went driving again and I am getting there. Slowly. Very, very slowly. But it is happening, and I suppose eventually it'll happen without thinking. Once I master those parallel parks, the world is mine!
And back to work for now.
And back to work for now.

uthy uth
First time I have been to youth group in I honestly can't remember how long. It was so cruisy. Didn't have to hang out with anyone, could just kind of sit by myself and relax, or go chat and catch up. I miss that. School is just so hectic and intense and overwhelming that to be somewhere where you can just be yourself is so calming. Good old youth. No matter what I say, it'll always be central to my sanity. And more of course.

breakfast goodness
Mmm...bread and butter pudding...
My Grandpa came over tonight, randomly and out of the blue. He seems sad, but he's doing well. He also managed to eat pretty much all the food we had in our 'kitchen' (for want of a better word), as well as helping himself to the pizza we had to go get so we could have dinner! He's a great one. I had the first real conversation I'd had with him for years. And even though he can't hear and doesn't speak English too great, he is still a pretty cool Grandpa.
He does well.

routine goodness
Okay, maybe not so much. Maybe more routine badness. The whole school thing is really starting to wear on me. I'm not entirely sure where I can lay the blame, whether on the fact there are too many assessments that there's no time to actually keep up with work, or the fact that I feel perpetually tired, or the fact that right now I'm a bit sad. But any of the above will do.
In any case, some wedding photos for your enjoyment:

All up, it was a very lovely day =]
So now I am off to learn about Australia's political system and find a way to actually pretend I care about it!! In a totally democratic, freedom for all type way.
