I don't care that it makes me a loser, it was the best thing I've ever seen!
I'm listening to Abba at work tomorrow - Garden City must hate me so much.

new again

I love the sensation of a fresh start. It has to be one of my favourite feelings in the whole world. The cool thing about it is it can come with a big of sadness, or happiness, or fear, or excitement, or regret, or calmness, but no matter what, you know you're starting again and you can't turn back. I think it's fairly special.

Coming home from Sydney is really challenging me in a lot of ways. Hillsong Conference was such a fantastic experience, and I had so many revelations from God about what He can do for us. He literally washed me clean, He restored my faith and hope and He totally confirmed that it is all not at all about me. He gave me this insatiable desire to read His word, and to talk about Him. It was awesome.

Then on the flight home, I made friends with the person sitting next to me, and I felt myself slipping back into the old person I was. The cool thing was, that they'd addressed this at the conference - slipping back isn't me failing, it's just me choosing to change. All I had to do was say 'No, I'm not changing, my faith is in Jesus and I want to be like him' and it was cool again. Of course, it's a ridiculously slow process, but nevertheless - a fresh start.

It was weird waking up the next day and suddenly having to be under the rules of a house, instead of doing what I felt like, as well as what Ali did. But generally, I could walk down the street, grab a coffee, read the Bible, shop a bit - all without having to think about what others expected me to do. It's something I'm learning to adjust to within the whole Servant Heart attitude.

I am doing a big clean out of my room - one of my favourite fresh starts. Getting rid of the things I pointlessly hoard, tidying up and reorganizing, putting what's important in front of me. Cleaning out my drawers and giving stuff away - I just want to give everything away all of a sudden. I'm sick of having an excess of things I don't need - thank God for that revelation. He's the ultimate provider, and if we want to be like Him, we better start providing for other people. Selfishness is so pointless. A hard habit to break, but still - another fresh start.

Finally, I got to drink Starbucks, eat Krispy Kreme, worship with 20 000 people from all over the world, eat bagels, buy matching things, grow closer with Jesus, learn to be more honest with my friends, write letters, buy exciting stationery and become more convicted about my life's plan. Pretty awesome fresh start in my opinion!

the first of july

It is officially the second half of the year (maybe not in days, but months-wise!) I have turned eighteen, uni semester one is done and dusted, I've read numerous books, done numerous things, discovered uncountable things, head off to Sydney in a couple of days, drink excessive amounts of coffee... and so on and so on.

My cocktail party was pretty much the greatest night of my life. I hope other people thought it was just a fraction of the fun I thought it was, and I'd totally be happy *big smiles*
A pictorial review of the night (even though they're all on facebook, but WHATEV TREV it's still fun to decorate):

Balloons were collected and placed around, even though they were totally not what we asked for. But they looked so lovely I didn't care.

I discovered my brand new camera does labels!

I saw the school girls for the first time in aages, and got a lovely Tiffany's necklace

Some more of my beautiful girls

I particularly enjoy the greatness of this photo

And this one

Blasts from the Past...s

And the not so Past

There was cake:

And dancing:

And lovely cocktails (how very handy at a Cocktail party!) with umbrellas:

And my brother is an alcoholic:

It was my party, I should've been holding the cocktail, not him!
*sigh*

But I got some lovely lovely presents I need to do massive thankyous for.... tiffanys necklaces, bulk cash, pandora charms, whales!, smiggle vouchers!, clutches, jewelry, beautiful mirrors!, nutella!, cocktail glasses, and the most wonderful cards in the world.
Hooray for being eighteen and fabulous birthdays!

But after all that, Sydney is fast approaching. I have a lot of expectations on what will happen there, so hopefully at least some are fulfilled. I'm excited to see Steve again as well, and spend lots of money in Sydney!

Also, I bought a new phone today. Hooray for bulk credit and no more limiting my text message replies and being rude and not calling!

There are many other exciting news things to catch the world up on, but now is sleeping time.
So I'll leave it there!

emily's addictions

1. Birthdays

I really really really love birthdays. I wish we could have them all the time every day. I was constantly speaking to someone on the phone, reading birthday messages, or visiting with the people who dropped in. And eating lots and lots of cake. It was fantastic! And I got wonderful presents, especially my Pandora bracelet. Which is slowly being filled with more and more charms every time someone new comes over! Which is very exciting. And I had a fabulous night out with my girls as well, so it was basically the best day of my life. Pretty much. =]

2. E-Bay

I was always too scared to use ebay because it looked too complicated and what if you didn't like something, etc. etc. But, I was telling my aunt I needed a birthday dress and she got onto ebay and was showing all these fabulous and actually cheap ones, which can arrive ideally soon but who knows? Anyway, I found out that you get emails telling you that you won, so basically, I'm hooked. I have now purchased two dresses! But it'll depend on when they arrive as to whether I wear them or not. So, that brings us along to the next addiction...

3. Dresses

I am so addicted to dresses. They are just so exciting. There's not much else to say about them other than they're great. But they are. Really really great.

4. Chocolates

I have soooo much chocolate from my birthday, but I don't care because I can just eat my way through it as I study away for the last three exams! LAST THREE!! I got a cocktail glass filled with roses from mum's work friend Marilyn and it's basically my favourite present.

5. Mi Goreng

Fastest meal in the world.

6. A Beautiful Mess

Here.

7. Stationery

It's one of the best things in the world to buy, and basically the one thing I'm most looking forward to about Sydney. We can just spend whole days in Smiggle. WHOLE DAYS OF STATIONERY!

8. Dance

We've choreographed a bit of Mirror, by BarlowGirl and so far I'm really excited about it. And there's a concert in November, and I love hanging out with the girls and watching how much they improve from week to week. Well, the week to the week I get there. But still, they're a gorgeous group.

9. Photos

I'm going into camera withdrawal and I'm going to buy a new one on Friday in preparation for my cocktail party on Saturday!

10. Phones

Seeing as I'm (FINALLY) nearly off the crapness plan that is Virgin, I can go on to bigger and better things! I've decided to keep my options open for an iPhone and am going to Vodafone, and finding a phone I won't destruct. It will be hard, but I think I'll be able to do it....

Being 18

Okay so I'm not there yet. But I will be tomorrow =] And I've been thinking about it a lot.

Actually Being 18
I'm not entirely sure what will change, aside from my ability to go to concerts. I mean, when the clock gets to midnight, I'm not magically going to grow taller or be filled with wisdom and be a real adult. Okay, I'll be able to vote but whatever. Nothing physically changes. But it is very cool nonetheless.

Parties
I'm mostly very super duper excited about my Cocktail Party next Saturday. Parties are my favourite part of birthdays, any birthdays. You have lots of people around, you can all dress up and look lovely, you listen to music, you can really talk to people. They're just so fun =] I'm a bit embarrassed about a few of the things they're doing at my party but whatever! We'll have a massive chocolate cake so that's totally awesome with me.

Presents
It's funny but I don't actually care about presents at all. Like whether I get them or not. I never really want anything particular (except PLEASE GOD LET ME GET A NEW LIGHT FOR MY BEDROOM BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE A THING IN THERE). But I got one of my favourite presents of all time last night =] And I believe that will continue on for a while. So that is fun =] And it's fun all the mystery around it, because mum knows what EVERYONE is getting me and she keeps dropping hints but not real hints, just allusions to birthdays and being 18 and it taking 5 - 7 working days to arrive. Anyway. That's just to say I really love what presents mean, not the actual present. And a card totally counts as a present!

Photos
And my favouritest favouritest part of birthdays (asides from parties and cake) is the photos. So I'll be buying a camera this week! But that's beside the point! I love the after-the-party part, when you come home and put all the photos on the computer and look properly at what everyone was wearing, and what was happening and who was talking to who and it's all very wonderful.

And I'm just ranting, but it's making me realize I actually am quite excited for tomorrow =] And next Saturday =]
Anyway, my stress about study has still not subsided so I'm off to go learn about WWI, the Russian Revolution and Nazi Germany, but it makes it nice to know I'll get a break from it tomorrow =]

motivationless rant

I feel rather hopeless right now.

I can see pages and pages of information on Politics and History I need to memorize, in order to write three essays and do sixty multiple choice.
It seems like such a waste to panic over all of this rubbish when that's all I'll do.
Three essays and sixty multi choice.
And only four hours of my life.

ARGH.

That's the thing that gets me about these exams. They seem so futile. I will never need to know all this stuff again.
I'm not doing a History unit.
Politics I knew most of it anyway.
So why should we do exams, where I panic and stress and make myself sick, just so I can get an okay mark?
All I need is 50% to get a credit anyway. So 60% for a distinction.
Which isn't great, but whatever. I don't care.
I HAVE LOST MY MOTIVATION AHHHHHHH
MOTIVATION COME BACK TO ME!
AT LEAST FOR THE NEXT WEEK!

nothing exciting

This blog always gets more attention when I have exams.

I feel quite surprised and very underwhelmed at the fact there is only five days until I turn eighteen.
I'm excited for my party, and I'm excited for new dresses and pretty shoes, and a lack of restriction if I want to go to a concert or something.
But other than that, it all feels rather anticlimactic.

Oh well =] I'm very excited for the girls coming over and then going to the concert of those people and then enjoying accompanying them out in public instead of to Maccas and home again.
hoorayyyy =]

Okay, STUDY TIME NOW GO

How To Know Life Sucks

When you realize your exam timetable is NOT WHAT YOU THOUGHT IT WAS, and you in fact have a HISTORY EXAM BEFORE YOUR POLITICS EXAM and you have NOT STARTED STUDYING FOR THAT UNIT BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT IT WAS AFTERWARDS.

The world hates me.
It really does.

Stress levels multiplied by five hundred zillion.
Sleeping levels most definitely decreasing by five hundred zillion.

Lame lame lame lame lame.
And who is born in the middle of uni exams.
I mean really. Whose silly idea was it to make sure my birthday is RIGHT SMACK BANG IN THE MIDDLE of all the exams and I have THREE (ONE OF WHICH I HAVEN'T STARTED STUDYING FOR) AFTER my birthday!
*cries*

*but is calm at the sight of nutella. lots and lots of nutella*

studying

My brain is overloading with information it doesn't want to take in. Parties to offences, the European Union, elements of homicide, the consensus and majoritarian aspects of Australian Parliament, assaults and grievous bodily harm and I really just do not care.
I have pages and pages of notes lying all over my room and I can't bring myself to look at them. I just want to sit there with my jar of nutella and eat it all and get fat and become a spinster and do nothing all day.
Now that's the life for me.

But in other news, I turn 18 in eight days, which has snuck up on me because I did not expect it at all. Everything in my mind is either 'before exams' or 'exams' or 'after exams'. None of this 'birthday' stuff.

I'm excited about my Cocktail party, and buying a new dress, and having all my lovely people around to enjoy being lovely together.

But before then, I must memorize my verbs and know my sentence structures, and explain politics in multi choice form and write history essays and say why A B and C are guilty of some offence, or not guilty at all.

It's all too much for my little brain. But I am very excited about the new Soul to Sole dance.

Emily Contemplates

So I read a few other blogs, and I have to say, I'm quite jealous of their awesome writing style. And ability to take great pictures, and make their page look really awesome, and just generally be artistic and also, really honest. I usually come on here and write some pointless lists or something, which give me a cathartic feeling of a compartmentalized life (Emily's ultimate, although definitely not ideal way to be).

There's a lot of things I have been contemplating lately. Like why I don't study harder, why I let myself get distracted, why I'm here, right now, doing the stuff I do with the people around me and the rituals and routines I have. It's all quite interesting. In some ways it makes me sad, and in some ways it makes me happy.

There are a lot of things I neglect to do. I neglect God, first and foremost. I neglect my health and well being, I neglect my ability to study and be productive in the things that matter, and I neglect to tell the whole truth all the time.

There are a lot of things I do okay at. I'm a loyal friend (even if I'm constantly busy and can never do anything), I get okay marks at uni, I save an okay amount, I do an okay job at tutoring and my job.

But when it comes to the things I'm good at, I'm just not sure. I'm good at writing lists, I'm good at eating chocolate and I'm good at not doing what I'll say I'll do, because I'll get distracted, or I'll choose not to, or I'll forget, or a billion other excuses that aren't good enough.

Nevertheless, I've also determined a few other things. A) I want to get it right. B) I'm not so insecure that I'll start making choices and doing things that I don't want to. I may be a chronic people-pleaser, coupled with my (weird) lazy perfectionism, but my conscience and God help me to stay fairly true to myself and what I believe. C) I make mistakes, but I don't live with regret. Who has time enough for that.

So, to finish what wasn't meant to be a depressing post at all but has turned into one, on a happy note - life is pretty much one of the greatest things ever. I love the fact you can fill it with whatever you want: materialistic things like cheap clothes, shoes and jewelry; waste of time things like blogs, Facebook and MSN;productive things like study, learning, reading; fun things like movies, creating and going out; deep things like questioning, thinking and formulating answers; or nothing. And as much as I'm one of the most indecisive people I know, I don't live with regrets so if I just choose what I want to do and stop messing around, life will get done.
That is all.

LAME. Well I'm wearing my new top that I bought for $4 and that's cute. So my top looks cute and that counts.

What do you want for Christmas/ or your next birthday?
I hate being asked this question! Well, I really would like my camera fixed. That's about it. I really don't care, if people buy me something I'll like whatever they buy me. And if they don't buy me something I really relaly just don't care.

Are you okay with making a total fool of yourself?
I do it all the time. I got on the wrong train the other day. I had the choice of two - and I chose wrong. And I catch that train every day. That explains to you what a fool I am.

Pfft.

A place you’ve lived that you miss?
This is the only place I remmeber living. Besides our old house, but this house is nicer. I have more room.

Do you get along better with boys or girls?
I don't think it really matters - I get along with some people better than others, irrespective of whether they're guys or girls. Cos some people are awesome. And some people you just don't click with.

incoherency

Only four more days until scary deadline life or death assignments are totally and completely over...
How exciting! =]

It was lovely spending my weekend seeing people I've missed.
It will be even lovelier when I don't have assignments to feel guilty about!

In other news, I have a music taste and I won't be sleeping tonight until I've proven once and for all that the October Revolution was a coup d'etat in 2000 words!
Go Emily go

I have not worked in so long, I am exceedingly poor.
Except I have new tutoring people, so hopefully that will make me exceedingly rich!
I sitll find it ironic I tutor maths and chemistry, when I do a Law degree and an Arts degree.
Hm. Never mind =]

I have a big long list of things to do once I get my life back =] I'm so excited!
Reading Criminal Law cases (I actually am excited, these cases are always exciting), seeing my people, printing more photos and putting them up, turning eighteen, going to Sydney and seeing button shops and Hillsong life, buying stationery, finish all the Jane Austen books, properly studying French so I can start to speak it and sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeping!
And working more often and less badly
Hooray! I love life even though it makes me so tired.
What an incoherent post.

Emily is a barrel of contradictions

I am a highly inter-contradictory person.

I don't like fancy food, but I love fancy cheese.
I don't like tomatoes, but I love tomato sauce on every thing that is meaty.
I don't like disorganization and messiness, but I can never be bothered cleaning up my room or putting my own stuff away.
I hate fancy, impractical shoes, but I also love them.
I hate wasting time, but I always do anyway.
I get annoyed when people say they could've done better, but they didn't try, but I do that too.
I don't like it when people don't do what they say they will, but I do it all the time.
I don't like glossy, expensive fashion magazines, but I like to look at them and wish all the clothes were mine.
I don't like wasting money, but I spend it all the time.

I'm excited for Liz and my curry expedition and musical extravaganza tonight. We are going to have an excellent time.
And I bought a new dress today,a nd shoes yesterday!
New things always make life more exciting.

I'm rather behind the eight ball in quite a few aspects of my life, but today I have, for no particular reason, been injected with positive energy and attitudes and I can totally get in front of it.

My cousin is getting married tomorrow! Which is all very exciting because she is lovely, and her fiancee is lovely, and her kid is lovely and now they can have a nice lovely family of loveliness!

I'm excited with all sorts of exciting plans coming up for an exciting month.

Sydney and Hillsong is totally booked now, except for accommodation. Well, I guess that's kind of important. But I'm so excited for cool stationery, button shops and new clothes and things! How great!

I was considering quitting Moo, but I'll stick around for a bit longer. My only problem is there is many weeks I cannot work, which may mean Flo might fire me anyway. In which case... I'll just go get a new job! Hmm... I would like to work in a cafe. But not a hard cafe. and something that fits into my free time and pays me lots. And that I can not feel guilty about not showing up. Or whatever. Hmm.. I'll think about it.

I really want to do something exciting to myself, liek cut my hair or get a piercing or something. But I have to say, I dont want any other piercings, and I don't want to cut my hair any different or else I might hate it! I suppose i could always be creative iwth my fringe. Or maybe, I could like cut my hair short on one half and leave it long on the other. That'd look awesome.

Can you tell I'm ranting??

I miss a lot of people.
Here is a shout out to the people I miss:

Lauren, Lindsay, Kim, Nat, Ari, Sally, Jessie, Laura, Lizzii (I'm seeing her tonight! Woohoo!) Megan, Kat cos I never see her anymore, Andrewww, Caitee, Nathan

And there are more but they'll do for now. Oui.
And I'm going to eat lunch now!
Au revoir

coming together

I really love it when everything starts falling into place, and life goes back to its sense-making, compartmentalized, synthesized, awesomized and wonderful self.

Criminal Law makes sense. French is making sense. Legal Process is still a waste of time but it makes sense. Politics is greatly making sense. History is readalicious but it always makes sense. My job makes sense. Maths tutoring may not actually make sense seeing as I don't study maths, but I can still make it make sense, and better yet, make it make sense to other people. The people in my life make sense in all sorts of wonderful, crazy and happy ways. Dance makes all kinds of relaxing, exciting and exhilarating sense. My study system makes sense. Warm clothes make sense. My new music taste makes sense! Heck, public transport makes sense. And coffee, that always makes sense.

So that's all I've really got to say - everything fell into place in my head today and I decided to share.
=]

Friday, May 02, 2008

I just visited my cousin and her new baby and he is just the most beautiful thing in the world. It amazed me how different people's lives can be, even when they're the same age living a ten to fifteen minute drive away, and growing up in the same family. But it was so lovely to squeeze his big cheeks, and catch up on life together.

That's all.

rambling along

I need to learn how to actually do my to-do lists. I have a list obsession, but I never seem to complete them, I just write them.
I think thus far, I have failed miserably at the whole uni and life thing. So I am going to change.
There are a lot of things I want to be able to fix.
First and foremost, my schedule, my assignments and my completion of to-do lists.

I've also decided I am quite similar to Emma from Emma. She reminds me of me in a lot of ways. That is kind of depressing, but who knows, perhaps it is a good thing.

I love my new box. I haven't got anything to put in it, but it was two dollars and it's all kinds of awesome. i shall have to think of exciting things to fill it with.

This is just for me to fill in time while my hair dries and I can go to sleep.

I'm so disappointed with the whole uni lifestyle thing. I would love to find some people who do more than just drink in their spare time. But somehow I don't think they exist. That makes me sad.

I'm also thinking I could cut my hair. Just for a change.
But I probably won't.

I counted a lot of things today. It was a lot of counting. It almost did my head in. There were over two thousand tub lids. TWO THOUSAND. And for once, I'ma ctually not exaggerating! Although that is an awful habit of mine!

I'm getting progressively worse at French, because I have no time to actually learn the words and retain what they mean and wehther or not they're masculine or feminine. And how they fit in a sentence and how they should be conjugated and wehther they should be conjugated.

I'm thinking I should do a linguistics unit instead of an english unit next semester.

I need a new music taste. Mine sucks.

I'm excited for saving lots of money for Hillsong.

ad my hair is dry. so i'll go now. and you can no longer waste your time reading this.
you know what's really fantastic?
tea.

i'm going to join a gym i think

a big rant

I'm really good at saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I'm really good at being blase about too many things, until they get so big that dealing with them is way too difficult. I'm really really good at keeping my distance, or being close to lots of people to avoid having one really strong connection. I'm good at avoiding what I know I should do to. I'm also very very good at procrastination. I really like honesty, but it scares me a lot. I pray that I could be dedicated and focussed. I wish I could set realistic goals. I wish I could finish my to-do lists. I'm really good at not taking things seriously to avoid getting upset and hurting others. Which just leads to getting upset and hurting others. I can light a fire, and I can listen to you talk, but I can never tell you 100% what I'm thinking. I waste hundreds of hours to avoid failure. My perfectionism and people pleasing mean I can't get out of vicious cycles of wanting what I don't have. I don't know what I want right now. I don't really know what God wants right now. I just want to hide in my room and eat and waste time and pretend there is nothing important I'm being called to do so I don't fail at it and hurt you. I want to be uncommitted to everything so that i don't hurt those bonds of commitment. I want to get those stupid things right. I want to stop pretending to have life together and actually get it together. And I'd like to work out how to surrender all that too.

One day.

What could you ever trade your soul for?
- Mark 8:37

lame

Emily just can't seem to get anything right now, can she.
Nope.

slice of life

Friday: Food shopping. Re-checking myer in case there is an awesome jacket slash boots I just couldn't find. A date at Murdoch with Nat the vet student and Dr. Who lover. Who will show me her noses. Quick scramble to do packing for Salty weekend. Listen to yesterdays lectures I skipped. Roadtrip with Lauren, Geoff and our lard. Salty weekend eating time. Is everything I do based around food? More food. Crash and die quietly. In the comfort of chalets.

Saturday: Hm. Good question. That will be a surprise. Some extreme fondue action in there somewhere.

Sunday: Probably be really fatigued from extreme fondue. Sleep in car on the way home. Die in bed, wake up and realize it is study break. But not as exciting as it seems because OH YEAH Emily skips all her lectures and now she needs to catch up on them. And do a Crim Assignment. And read three eighty page cases. And do her readings. And get ahead on her other assignments. And stop slacking. And work with yoghurt and tutor and remember what maths is and go to the footy. So write a list of things to do. Procrastinate. Probably drink coffee. Bed.

Study Break, or, as it should be better known, Procrastination break. Write lots of lists, do the easy things first and hten leave all hard things till the end. Stress, die, go out to feel better, spend lots of money, become broke and then finally start work at 1 int eh morning. BUT I will have lots of nice pretty new things so it will be worth it!

The following Week...
COLLIE. After working with fun fun yoghurt.

Then back to uni. Hooray =]

In other great news, I spent a lot a lot of money tonight in about an hour and a half. But I'm still not done! But there should always be some reward for working hard and remembering maths and playing with yoghurt. Imagine if we close. I'd have to work somewhere nice and non-smelly. DEAR GOD, THE THOUGHT.
I think I'm quite tired. I think I should sleep.
ASAP.

what emily likes about life

Stage Shows, especially really good ones, like Miss Saigon.
Being busy but not tired. That is not entirely true of the moment, but never mind! One day it will be.
Learning really cool things about Law, Politics, History and French.
Finding about the weird and wonderful world of Criminal Law
Brushing my hair
Being paid to do stuff, and thus having money to do other stuff which is always better than what you're paid to do
Gatherings of friends
The occasional bit of solitude
Chocolate
The colour orange and the shenanigans of wearing orange in a tigerish form on Canning Highway
People not knowing too much.
Jane Austen and her hilariously funny recollection of life
Comfortable pjs
slowing getting direction
letting other people make decisions for me
reliving the St. Hilda's Arts Fest experience
pretty dresses
relaxing songs
discovering the benefits of typing lectures and going to lectures so you don't have to listen on lectopia later. because lectopia is ghey
chocolate froghurt & hot showersnot together =S

And nice hugs. And what it feels like after crying, which is emo. Not that I've cried at all recently =S I was just thinking about how nice it always feels AFTERWARDS. It's like your eyes get washing, in a more-than-literal way.

* dance is exciting and wonderful
* my phone bill has soared once again
* my leg is still peeling
* I have an assignment about the Simpsons and Criminal Law. How ironic.
* I miss Easter and the good excuse it gave you to eat chocolate
* everyone has a boyfriend all of a sudden=S
* tea is so wonderful
* it is almost winter clothes season!
* A Beautiful Mind is my new favourite movie
* Mum is STILL addicted to Big Fat Loser.
* I'm going to turn into one of those pretentious people who use a laptop in lectures
* except it's kind of weird because my Mac is really noisy
* I love Juno
* I'm also contemplating cutting my hair
* There are not many days until Salty weekend and Collie roadtrip!
* Je vais acheter les oeufs. I just like those weird words
* Driving is ghey

hmmm

I've been thinking about some things. I have decided to discuss them.

1) Busyness. As in being busy all the time, every second of every day with no break. That kind of busy. I'm trying to decide if this is a good thing. In some ways you're getting out everything you can of your day and your time and all of that. So you are productive. But then in other ways you may potentially be burnt out. Or stressed out, or something'd out. But I don't know if there's such thing as a healthy balance. And how do you even know what to say 'no' to anyway? Some people seem to have that all sussed. But it is way too difficult to discern. And who do you please?

2) Privacy. What is the best thing to be? Like not tell anyone anything, or be really open? Or find some middle ground? I swear the middle ground does not exist though. It cannot. And one thing I struggle with is telling people things and them feeling as though now they're a part of it. I guess it's important to decide who to share your life with and who you want accountability from, and who you don't. But that's hard.

3) Being focussed. I lose focus very easily. So I'm wondering whether being multi-focussed is a good thing? I guess this kind of relates to busyness, but I mean in more a general kind of learning way - is it better to learn one thing at a time or have lots going on?

4) Working. I have one question. Is it PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE TO FORCE A CUSTOMER TO BUY YOGHURT ON A TUESDAY MORNING WHEN THERE IS LIKE NOONE AT GARDEN CITY? NO! SO HOW ON EARTH DO YOU EARN YOURSELF MORE SHIFTS IF NOONE WANTS TO BUY YOUR PRODUCT!

5) Middle ground. It is very hard to find the middle ground. Some help would be very nice, thanks.

6) Happiness. It perplexes me the amount of people who find it difficult to be happy. Or choose not to be. I get worried that maybe I'm being heartless? Feelings confuse me a lot.

And Fremantle lost, so I'm going to go cry now. *sob*

parlez-vous francais a l'universite?

This is the most disgustingly, horrifically sunburnt I have ever been in my life. Law Fresher Picnic, in Mandurah, with no shade, and pale skin means I am basically the brightest pink I've ever seen. It is extremely embarrassing. And hurty. HURTY to the max!! Also, Goon is your life enemy. Never forget it my friends. Never.

Week two of uni has confirmed for me that I like it and I like sitting in pretty cafes and looking at pretty trees and pretty grass and being studious. However, I'm quite overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do and the amount of time I really don't have =S But I like learning to speak French, and learning about European history, and finding out the cool stuff of criminal law, and analyzing the political system. Not so much legal process. That is boring.

I also like the fancy old books you can get in the library. I had to read some of Hobbes' Leviathan for Politics,a nd it was all old and nicely bound, and had old fashioned English and was just generally lovely =] Lovely I say!

Anyway, the only reason I'm writing this is because I have lots and lots of reading to do adn I don't want to do it because my eyes are all dry and my skin is all burnt and generally I can't be bothered. Life is a complicated and wonderful thing. I read that just before. I tend to agree.

A bientot, ma cheries. J'etudie l'histoire tout de suite. Or something like that.

day two

after two days of being a uni student, i have discovered...

* flat whites are $1.40 in the ref
* the libraries are very intimidating
* people who use laptops in lectures are the most annoying people on the planet
* you have to read a lot
* you also have to study a lot
* it is necessary to fight for your place in the queue for the bus
* nothing exists outside of the law building, arts building and the guild village
* trees are nice
* books are heavy
* keep your phone permanently on silent
* avoid goon
* there are many boring lecturers
* always have cash
* eight am starts should be reserved only for science students
* don't go to the bookshop after ten am
* there are always lots of people walking around
* don't lose your campus card
* don't use the Arts toilets
* expect to see a million school people
* don't be late or else you get embarrassingly singled out
* everyone is a nerd

Happy happy happy

I just wanted to tell the world how ridiculously happy I am for the following reasons:

1. Lauren is home!
2. I have crossed off three things on my 'list of things to do before uni goes back'
3. Uni goes back next week!
4. Lauren is home!
5. Kat just may be my new yoghurt buddy!
6. *secret* but it still makes me happy!
7. I can play the first three pages of 'Dawn' and it doesn't sound bad!
8. Writing letters to Lizzii!
9. Finishing books!
10. Lauren is home!

And I am still sad Lindsay is living on the other side of the country. But I'm very happy she is going to be smart and a history nerd and have basically no contact hours so she can just shopa nd then tell me about all her bargains.

A tribute to Lindsay

Who leaves for Sydney forever tomorrow night to never return. Until July. I am sure she will be wonderful in the world of uni and colleges.
Lots of love her way

What Has Emily Been Doing With Her Life?

1. Yoghurt Selling. Yup. I've been selling yoghurt more than I thought was humanly possible AND I've discovered I quite enjoy chocolate frozen yoghurt. And mango smoothies. I make a mean mango smoothie. And I like getting paid too. That is nice.

2. Dancing. Not that much, but I am now officially a Sole to Soul leader with an orange(pink) shirt and everything! Now to actually remember how to dance.

3. Making Mei Goreng. I have this packet mix fun stuff like everyday. It is so freaking addictive.

4. Waiting Impatiently for Uni to Start. I would rather like to learn again. It's all well and good to earn money and be on holidays and do nothing, but I do like learning. 3rd of March!!

5. Colouring In. Kat bought me a Disney Princess Colouring In book. It is very good for keeping myself occupied. =]

6. Dance Dance Revolutioning. My new goal in life is to finish Spice Girls//Spice Up Your Life (or maybe it was Stop? One of them) on Pro so I can amaze Gary Low.

7. Eating Darrell Lea Chocolate. So ridiculously addicted to Dark chocolate coated red licorice bullets.

8. Spending too Much Money on Gloria Jeans Caramel Lattes. But I do get a discount as a result of Moo =] So that is exciting!

9. Trying To Expand My Music Taste. I've discovered I like everything except the Cat Empire. But I need influencing in what I listen to. Suggestions please?

10. Being Addicted to the Movie Beaches. I really do love that movie. It is so so so so sad.

11. Occasionally Cleaning. I cleaned up the Book room and it looks all lovely now. For a while I was inspired to clean my room and the games room, but it's kind of worn off. I still have to do it though. Eventually. Maybe tomorrow.

12. Putting off Joining the Gym. I'm so angry at myself, I just can't seem to force myself to go there and fill out forms. I think I'm a bit scared about getting a program and not sticking to it. Stupid hey?

13. Writing Letters. I really love letters.

14. Considering a Career Change and Going to the Bus Driving Open Day. Just kidding. No really. I'm kidding.

15. Playing the Piano. I bought the Pride & Prejudice music book and it is so lovely to try (really badly) to play it. I really need to practice more often.

And that's all really! It's all unexciting and uneventful for now.

washing directions

The biggest pile of crap you will ever read :

Gail Sorronda for Target evokes visions of summers past, present or future. Sheer fabrics and sequins transform under sunlight, and a playful use of tailoring is coupled with light masculine features for a grown up twist to feminine dressing

This was written on the Mambo tag for some boardies Jarrad bought:

To wash, Mambo recommends soaking this garment in a cosmic bucket two thirds full of mystic crystals (Australian Industry Standard). Soak for 45 minutes then rinse in a gently flowing stream. To dry, wring first in a 'yin' direction followed by a reverse 'yang' twist. Hang between 2 maypoles and dance around garment until dry. Dude... fold into basket. For best results, wash only when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter is aligned with Mars

Now THAT's advice I intend to follow

Dinner time!

* Today I was moo-ed at as a result of my bright red shirt which says 'Moo'. It was really embarrassing. I had to try not to laugh.
* I have developed a beach addiction. I want to go pretty much all the time.
* I have also redeveloped my chocolate addiction. This is supremely bad as I keep putting off joining the gym because I don't want to part with all that money in one big go. Best things ever: Darrel Lea's dark chocolate coated red licorice bullets. *sigh of happiness*
* I just called the gym and spoke to Mr. I'm-A-Football-Player-Listen-To-My-Awful-Drawl
* There is still ANOTHER MONTH BEFORE UNI STARTS. I'M GOING INSANE! I NEED TO LEARN!
* I may be starting another job tutoring at Mich's mum's business, which is exciting! Less sticky, more brain power
* And I'm working at the by-election. So lots of cash for me.
* I have made yet another vow to keep my room clean and tidy and free from gross messiness.
* I've also redeveloped my love for writing letters. It is nice having lots of people around who I need to write letters to. I wrote about five the other night when I was babysitting. It was great. they were practically unreadable, which was the cause of my new note to self: improve handwriting
* My internet makes me angry as it likes to disconnect at lots of random and inconvenient times
* I've decided I'm going to start teaching myself a language. I don't know what yet, but I'm learning French at uni so I'll have to choose something else.
* Desperately waiting for my new piano music to come through from Lizziiiiiiiiiiiii at Zenith
* Kind of worried about this dance thing - I am concerned about the fact I haven't danced in...about a trillion years
* Needing a new book - and recommendations for said new book
* Also in need of a developed music taste. Mine is shamefully non-refined
* It feels really strange not being at school - lie I saw all these school kids coming into Garden City and I felt so lost and confused.
* The bank people know me by name. That is embarrassing.
* I'm refining my cooking skills of late. There wasn't many skills to start with, but they're gradually developing. It's kind of exciting.
* Salmon girl was the funniest thing I've ever seen

best day ever

So last night I went to the 'cultural' experience of watching Shakespeare's 'As You Like It' in Kings Park, which was totally not cultured. In a good way. They took the script and then set it in the seventies - it was actually amazing. I want to go again. Any takers? Although if I did go again, I'd take chairs =S it was longer than I expected. But so so so good.

And then today I have played DDR, made cookies and some random slice, and watched Hairspray. It is the best day ever. You don't get any better than that. Seriously. BUT!!!! There's the Harry Potter marathon tonight! My goodness, I'm so excited.

I started at Moo on Tuesday (yup, laugh all you want, even I think it's kind of funny) - and I don't mind it! There is ice cream, and smoothies, and lots of yoghurt - and I'm actually amazed how many people buy yoghurt. Seriously. I don't even really like yoghurt (but don't tell my boss) but I have to say this yoghurt is good...although the frozen stuff is better. And apparently better for you but still... yoghurt? Popular? I don't really understand. But they seem to have been desperate for staff, cos they're already putting me on by myself next week =S Kind of scary! And I'm back to being the messiest worker ever - i always leave covered in yoghurt and ice cream and sticky stuff. *sigh* Kind of wish I'd taken a less messy job but... there is nowhere else looking and I feel bad quitting straight away =P

My cookies taste bad =[ Worst day ever.
Anyway friends, enough of my rambling. I bought a new piano book and have two Pride & Prejudice books on order so I've decided it's time to get back into musicness. So I'm off to force myself to play good again.

Listeriffic

Uni Enrolment: I have about half a tree's worth of paper of information about being a uni student. I haven't read any of it, I'm kind of hoping I'll just absorb it all by osmosis and know everything and everyone without having to try. But, it is all very exciting, my head is on an angle on the student card, I have another email account and number I'll have to learn, and lots of new books to buy. I love new books. Just one more month and all is fantastic.

New Job: Yeah so you're all going to make fun of me and laugh (just like everyone) but I have a job at Moo. And laugh all you like, I get paid, I have no customers yelling at me for losing their trousers and it is clean and organized and I get a pay slip! I haven't had a pay slip since working at Bakers Delight in Year ten! And a uniform! It took me a year and a half to get a second hand uniform at Brumby's! It's just one big novelty. How exciting.

The Gym: Friends, I am torn. Do I join Zest? Or do I join the Melville Gyms? I need help with a decision!

Missing Friends: So many people have run away from me. Lauren is STILL in Lord Howe Island of Luxury and beachness. Lindsay is still off in Europe. Adam's in like Germany or something. Whatever, traveloholics.

Coffee: Now the greatest liquid ever invented. Even better when enjoyed with lovely people. Which is usually all the time. =] =] =]

Dance Lessons: So I'm going to start being a leader with Michelle at Sole to Soul, or Soul to Sole, or maybe just one of those, I'm not sure, but whatever, you get the gist. Slight problem being I haven't had dance lessons since I was, oh, maybe nine or something. Maybe I should sign up for new ones. Maybe.

There's more but I'm sick of a computer screen. I'm going to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's =]

Direction

I've started to become a bit obsessive compulsive.
I write lists all the time.
I'm addicted to the scales.
I'm really and stupidly messy but it makes me really upset every time I walk into my room and there's not order (which is like, all the time)
I like things to be perfectly set out and perfectly easy to understand.
If something isn't perfect I abandon it.
It's really odd! I am becoming a freak

Limbo

I have very little to say as a result of this limbo period of life.
So I'll do a recap of Sydney

* Canberra is a hole, but I sat in the old PM's chair
* Sydney is very pretty
* I spent more money than I have ever in my whole life
* We stayed in a house with TEN BATHROOMS
* Two-bedroom apartments are not meant for six people
* Two boats caught on fire

And that's basically it in a nutshell. Back to limbo!
