Because I'm crap at life, I'm about five million chapters behind my MP3 girls in our Bible reading. But! As usual, God's pretty spot on with what he's doing. I was reading Psalm 26 today, and I was completely blown away by the courage and strength of character there was in the verse. Lately I'd been getting really frustrated at the gutlessness of Christianity - how we go to church, fill in our routine, smile a bit, be good, be nice, go to Maccas tick tick tick. Routine does not require courage. But the first verse of the chapter blew me away, because all it had was courage;
v1 Vindicate me O Lord, for I have led a blameless life I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Test me O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and mind; for your love is ever before me, and i walk continuously in your truth.
Test me O Lord? I barely have the courage to think those words. When I try to imagine God testing me just because, I get scared. To challenge him to do so? To invite testing? It is beyond my comprehension. I prefer to hide behind my moralizing and complaining, my belief that I am superior and my ideas are superior - what is an omnipresent God to that anyway. My character will never be strong enough to desire a testing that I have personally invited. To think of what Job went through without asking - to ask that into my life is impossible. Impossible because I know my faith and my ability to surrender my all to God is practically nonexistent, let alone being cool with whatever he threw my way simply because I know that above all, He is still God.
When I got onto Psalm 27 that idea really stood out - the fact that you can be fine with whatever, whatever tests and challenges come your way, because all your focus should be on is this (v.4) 'One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek; that I dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple'. And you don't achieve that by being happy with material things, or feeling like you have lots of friends - you achieve it by focussing everything on God, regardless of what else is happening.
And to leave you with my new all time favourite verse, which managed to pierce my heart; Ps 27:14 - 'Wait for the Lord; Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.'
Sorry this is so rambling - I just had so much to say I can't be bothered being coherent about it!

University is only two weeks away from FINALLY becoming a part of the normal routine again. Thank goodness!
Things that happen to Emily when she has no Uni:
* She becomes a fulltime office wench
* She wears high waisted black skirts and collects mail a lot
* she can never remember if she's supposed to answer the phone 'Wellard Group Emily Speaking' or 'Hello' and sometimes jumbles the two up together
* She thinks of lots of things she can do and instead re-reads a book
* She prints out all the photos she has on her computer and doesn't do anything with them
* She starts talking to herself, insisting that it's practicing French but really its to fill in the spaces
* She eats even more chocolate (if that's possible)
* She remembers strange things about uni such as...
- People look at you strange if you have any notebook other than Spirax and if you don't use a Macbook
- You go to the same cafe every day and the people still don't know what you order
- Tutors smell funny
- as soon as it hits quarter to, everyone is out of their chairs no matter what
- Catching the bus with those weird people who always stand in near the middle door and get hit but won't sit down cos they feel rude and also because they want to be first off the bus
- Catching the train, with people who have escaped from jail
- Rushing from uni to work/dance/French/other work/tutoring/social gathering (HA! I wish)
* She vacillates between tidy and messy
The end.

25 Random Facts
So I have been tagged in this Facebook thing that the ENTIRE FREAKING WORLD has done, and as I'm not one for putting 25 random facts about me on Facebook because ... hmm, I don't know, I just feel more comfortable putting it on my blog, as less people will read it.
Also, Facebook is gay. I'm only doing this cos I got kicked out of the family room.
1. My love and obsession with chocolate goes beyond all reason. I hoard the stuff in hidden spots throughout my room. I have easter eggs in my work desk. I don't rest unless I've had one chocolate-type food during the day. It is almost unhealthy. Well, its completely unhealthy, but the habit itself is almost unhealthy.
2. I have rekindled my love of making jewelry, and now have more bracelets than I could ever wear in my entire life. I was going to sell some, but I'm trying to justify the idea of paying to put them up for sale on the internet. What if they don't sell? Then I'm a billion cents out of pocket. Gay.
3. Photography fascinates me.
4. I have feet-o-phobia. I really really dislike feet. They are ugly. Toes are ugly.
5. I hate being lonely, yet often feel lonely.
6. I really want to paint, but it costs too much. Also I feel guilty taking up hobbies when uni consumes my life.
7. The gym is slowly becoming my second home, but unfortunately my chocolate addiction prevents any visible evidence of this.
8. Music snobs piss me off.
9. Whilst in Busselton I discovered a love of Chardonnay.
10. I am an office wench, and think of myself as superior to official office wenches because I KNOW that one day I will escape to bigger and better things. Okay, I'm a snob.
11. Dance and netball are two of my favourite things in the entire universe.
12. I love the idea of being organized and tidy, but can never bring it to actuality.
13. For some reason, I never close cupboard doors. Not my own wardrobe, not my cupboards, not the drawers to my clothes, or my desk drawers. This works to add an increased appearance of untidiness and disorganization to my room.
14. Jarrad's girlfriend, Ebony, has a little brother who has fallen in love with me. Can't blame him really.
15. I hope one day to be comfortable with my place in the world, and not get so annoyed with how much I fail all the time.
16. Clothes are my first love.
17. I write lists all the time, but never really follow through.
18. Heroes don't exist. People can't live up to hero status, so why bother having them in the first place?
19. One day I hope to write a book.
20. Colours are my best friend. Bright colours. Colours that make you happy.
21. The view from my bedroom window is my favourite view.
22. Travelling is one of my main ambitions.
23. I hope never to feel stuck in one place, but always be moving and being challenged.
24. The truth is often some that scares me, but I'm learning to say it more often.
25. I am sad because I finished all my caramel crowns and left my easter eggs behind, and now have no chocolate to eat today. Worst day ever!
:) Well that was fun. I might go make some more bracelets now and convince myself to bother putting them on ebay. Unless anyone wants some, although they're not the prettiest things I've ever seen.

February
February is my own personal New Year. I guess January always feels a little bit lost, especially when the things you focus on in your year, like uni and other things based around the school terms like dance, don't actually start till February. So Happy Fake New Year to you all =D
There are a lot of things I have observed over the past few days. Here are some of them:
* There is never a bad time for coffee
* Being a hermit is not necessarily a bad thing
* Cool people eat a lot of biscuits
* Sleeping in throws off your sleeping pattern
* Pathologists have really long waiting queues. I had to wait an hour for a two minute blood test. GAY
* Going out to dinner is one of my favourite things to do
* Making lists and not following through is one of my spiritual gifts
* I love the inspiration from other people's creativity, but I can't be bothered and can't be bothered funding a creative habit.
* Saving money feels good
* Making plans is fun
* So is buying presents
* MP3s are only effective if people are open and honest with each other
* Although i have a lot of pairs of shoes, I never have ones that match what I'm wearing
* I miss the friendos
* Catching up with people from old times is the best
* Not having to use conditioner is also the best
* Finding a book to reread is the ultimate best
* Soap operas are all the same: people are sad, people have profound things to say to each other all the time, often someone is sitting by themselves contemplating life and the world, and then someone comes and joins them and helps them through their tough time, everyone is cool, there are no more than eight people you are friends with, everyone does the wrong thing but always knows what the right thing is, and all issues of day-to-day life are dealt with in a checklist type fashion each episode. Oh, and they're all fantastic.
* Tivo is AWESOME. You find great shows that you would otherwise never know about and could never record because they're on at like, 2am
* Stationery makes me a happy person
* So does learning
* And being fabulous
The end!

Cool People
My new theory is that Cool People are as much a subset of the human race, like white people and Asians. As I now share an office with a Cool Person and have spent a fair chunk of life observing them from afar, at church (you laugh now, but trust me) and school, I believe I am certified to give you a run down of the Cool People.
Cool People don't even have to say 'Hi I'm Cool.' They can just walk into a room and people KNOW. It is even more obvious than a mullet or wearing a stupid shirt. Cool just radiates from them.
Cool People speak Coolspeak. Every thing they say, no matter how nice or snobbish or stupid or smart or ridiculous it sounds, is cool. It is the most obvious discourse there is. You probably won't understand some of the things they say if you are a lesser mortal like myself. Coolspeak is beyond the best of us.
Cool People have a Cool Vibe. Similar to having cool radiate from them, one can almost sense a cool person coming four or five seconds before they see them. The Vibe is that strong. so strong it even needs capitalization.
Cool People will make you nervous and flustered for no reason other than you are in awe of being in company with a cool person. It is slowly starting to wear off me, but as I've had a break from Mr. Cool for today, tomorrow in the office will be major nervous-flustered time.
Cool People are just generally fabulous, and even if they're not fabulous, they make you think they're fabulous. Or you think 'they're not fabulous at all' but you pretend to think their fabulous otherwise you won't have any friends.
Cool People mean you can be mean behind their backs, but still secretly wish you were like them.
The end.

Being Generous
Oftentimes I find my mind comes up with things that befuddle even myself. Which is stupid because I control my mind and therefore should intimately understand it. One of these befuddling thoughts has been on my mind for some time. And it is Feeling Generous about things that actually don't count as generous.
My example for you is car parks.
When I worked a lot at Garden City and drove (because I rarely drive as I'm lazy and my parents love me and pay for a car therefore I don't have a car therefore I don't drive one often), on Saturdays I would (so rebelliously) park in the spots right near the Post Office so I had quick, easy and direct access straight out to the car with no dilly dallying, as the only shops there are for phones and I hate phones and how they always break.
Anyway, I realized something - every time I left at one thirty after my morning shift, and would walk out and see a bazillion cars circling the carpark a thousand times for four hours trying to find a spot on a Saturday afternoon (fools, who even shops then), I had this fabulous feeling like I was Doing Right by this person - sacrificing my parking spot for the betterment of their shopping afternoon for groceries and toilet paper. And maybe gourmet, overpriced yoghurt.
BUT I WASN'T! My mind was tricking me! I was not Being Generous at all. I was just leaving and that event happened to coincide with someone else coming. But it made me feel like a Better Person, and that is all that matters.

Observations About Wellard:
* If you phone people about money, they automatically don't like you
* Having a trestle table as a desk counts you as a nobody. But a cool nobody
* Sharing an office with a cooley is very stressful but also very entertaining
* Sharing an office with a cooley who makes other people act like cooleys is very entertaining. And makes me wonder what I'd have to do to qualify for cooley status. Too much I think
* Stationery passes the time
* If you have a computer in front of you, it looks like you're working
* Quality free coffee is the best
* Food shopping in Fremantle is oftentimes hazardous
* My filing skills have been honed, almost to perfection
* Having your uncle as your head honcho boss can be lame
* Offices are stuffy places
* They also like to hang up blinds on windows that are inside and face a wall. It contributes to stuffiness
* It is nice getting paid to bludge around. Boring. But nice.

Back again!
Well, I survived another family holiday away. I read three books, watched a lot of episodes of Dawson's Creek, the entire season of Summer Heights High, ate a lot of expensive food, bought my favourite white chocolate liqueur, and dominated a few family games of Smart Ass. Google it, it's really a game.
I've been preparing for the big party on Friday night - although since it's a surprise I can't tell you who it's for. I've been scanning photos, planning ideas, deciding what to wear, and so on and so forth. I love parties so so much.
I feel very organized for the year ahead - if all goes to plan, I'll be earning the money I'd decided on, have lots of free time to study and be merry, and generally improve life's ridiculous hectic pace. So hopefully this year will be a bit more relaxing. I am feeling quite melancholy as I'm giving up leading at Soul to Sole this year. Timewise it just kills me, but I was really growing to love the girls and challenging them with dance. And choreographing exciting dances. Ohw ell, if it's meant to be, God will shift my stupid Politics lecture. Fingers crossed!
I'm just rambling, as I have a lot to do and procrastinating isn't limited to study/work times. Strange hey.
I miss everyone for some reason. ILOVE YOU ALL COME BACK xx x x x x

Goodbye Friends!
Loved ones, I am off to Busselton (again - this time with the fam) until Sunday, and will miss your contact.
I have something exciting to share though - I bought a new notebook yesterday, because my 'know your rights' smiggle fabulous one is reaching a close. It is just lovely, and covered with coffee cups. The inside cover has my new favourite quote, that I think many of you will identify with:
'A cup of coffee commits one to forty years of friendship' - Turkish Proverb.
Well, I have no issues with that! Love x x x

Client v Customer
As I am at work, I was pondering the difference between a client and a customer. I've had many jobs, but this is the first one I've referred to our outside sources as 'client's - I am much more accustomed to customers. But I am learning slowly. In any case, here are some of the differences I thought of:
A client sounds posh.
A customer sounds working-class.
A client is probably really rich or wears a tie a lot.
A customer is more likely to be a young/middle-aged, stay-at-home mum with a trolley full of shopping.
A client is corporate-y.
A customer is shopping centre-y.
A client has a receptionist or personal secretary, and gets their suits dry-cleaned.
A customer wears casual clothes and answers their own phone.
A client is only a client from nine till five.
A customer is always a customer.
A client probably has three of their own personal lawyers.
A customer probably has a friend of a friend who is a lawyer.
A client spends millions of dollars.
A customer spends $4.10 on a Maxi Moo and tries to barter the price.
A client walks around with a business card.
A customer doesn't.
A client gives you a handshake.
A customer calls at you from the counter.
A client makes you look after their parking.
A customer looks after their own parking.
A client is pretentious.
A customer is practical.
I do know some of these are inaccurate/stereotypical/really really superbly lame, but on the whole I think they capture the difference. I'm going to soon go and be a customer at Culleys.

EUPHEMISMS
I love love love euphemisms. I love all the different ways they manifest themselves. I love how you can euphemize everything. I love clever euphemisms. I like lame euphemisms. I even like cliche euphemisms.
I decided today that I am a euphemism for a lot of things. Some of them made me sad, and some of them made me happy. But the word euphemism is just so awesome that I got over it!

On My Way

I really liked this PostSecret. It has a lot of hope in it. I often try to work out where I am in being 'on my way'. At the beginning of my way? The end? Somewhere in the middle?
I guess it doesn't really matter, as long as you're moving forward. it always makes me sad to see people who are stagnant in their lives and in their attitudes. You'd just have no hope or inspiration to keep trying and improving.
I'm excited for the future, as always. There are a few things that always weigh on my mind, but I'm trying to find inspiration and hope to keep moving on and growing and not getting caught in the pathetic and moving onto the exciting!
Anyway, enough about all that. I'm going to Busselton AGAIN on Tuesday so I have to write another packing list and make sure I get a million books to take away so I don't go absolutely INSANE.

People Watching, Parties and Shoes
Tonight I went to an eighteenth of a person I barely know by association from about three years ago. It was strange receiving the Facebook invitation, but as it was the first weekend of my entire life where I seriously had absolutely nothing at all in the world to do, I thought, well why not? I had two good friends from high school going, I could wear my pretty white dress again, and if it was crap i could bail early.
As it was incredibly awkward, seeing as everyone except for the three of us knew it each other, I amused myself in people watching. The party was black and white themed, which brought out the inner skanky-whore in most girls, although what doesn't these days? In any case, I saw many repetitions of the same vibe of dress. I enjoyed watching the skanky dancing as the girls danced, quickly looked to see if any guys were watching, then kept moving (out of time, may I add!!! And also moving, not dancing.) But my personal favourite was the jumpsuit.
Now, while most girls know that you can go short, tight and low-cut, there are limits. If it's strapless and backless, Hollywood tape is your friend. Your very very very best friend. If you are going to wear a black jumpsuit, that is backless, odd-fitting, has a massive frill at the front, and is cut too far around to not help you from preventing showing your boobs to the whole world, your mum/best friend needs to have a serious chat to you. You will not look good. It is not possible. If you want to look good, put a paper bag on your head. Or don't dance, and expose even more of those parts that do not need exposing.
But I will throw this in for all those guys that seem to think that shoes do not make an outfit - you are fools. If someone wears a beautiful dress and a pair of thongs, they may as well cut the dress up with an axe and feed it to a dog, then use it as a doona. There is no point owning a nice dress if you aren't going to make it awesome by wearing awesome shoes. You can even wear a crap dress, and wear awesome shoes, and win at life. Shoes make or break whether or not you are the best person there. Trust me. I have the best shoes, and subsequently am always the best person at a party. =D I am joking, but I'm not joking about shoes being the most important accessory besides a flattering dress/outfit and decent makeup.
It's basically a gospel truth.
And also moving, not dancing.) What has Emily been pondering lately?
As it is already over a week into 2009, I'm quite behind on the reflection/looking forward/goal-making requirements of this time of year. I can use the excuse I was away for a week and enjoyed the chill out time of no computers, no stress and no need to think beyond the next second, so I will. Instead, having lived a little in the new year, I'm going to convince myself I have better knowledge of what I'd like to get cracking on in the exciting but awkward-to-say 2009.
Having a week away gave me a bit of perspective. I'm very good at being busy, exhausted and overexcited/overworked/overplanned/over everything. Being away from home, with some of the faves, sleeping in, being forced to finish things I started, cooking a little, being responsible in a quiet sort of way, reminded me that I need to slow down. Focus on the things I'm good at, and are important to me. Try a few new things. Remind myself regularly that I don't have to do everything, otherwise I burn out, I'm sad, I'm grumpy and I make everything complicated. No one likes a grumpy Emily!
While we were away we watched Phantom of the Opera, and it was AMAZING. So I've decided I need to become more cultured in the area of musicals! I'm going to write a big list of as many as I can think of, and watch them all by the end of the year. It will happen.
As the world has been somewhat obsessed with the whole weight issue thing lately, it's been something that's been on my mind. I love food, and I intend to love it and eat it continuously. However, I really want to run the four k City to Surf this year. In order to do that, a bit of toning up and slimming down is required, due to crap knees and lack of running ability/fitness in most areas. Please keep in mind I don't judge you or your weight/lack thereof etc., and I am in no way becoming anorexic. I would simply like to enjoy the fitness I see in people like my brother, but without the obsessiveness and the big muscles. Somehow I don't think I could pull off the muscly look.
I know I sound hopelessly cliched, and very much like the white person stereotype in the ALL TIME GREATEST BOOK Stuff White People Like, but I want to travel a lot this year. I had fabulous plans to go away in the middle of the year, but had a think on issues like money, time, practicality and not wanting to burn myself out as uni is unfortunately still cranking on, and have changed times to the end of the year, overlapping with 2010. (That year is way easier to say, in my opinion). So I'm going to focus on saving money, being organized, being practical and being adventurous in the places of the world that need to be explored. And I'm not even limiting that to overseas - there are so many places in WA I've never really appreciated before.
My family continually jokes about my pathetic ability to be tidy. I have no desire to be neat. But, this year, I intend to actually keep my room tidy. Half of my stress was the result of a messy workspace, and messy approach to things. I want to become a neater, more organized and thus more focussed person this year.
I adore dance, as I think a lot of people know. And I now have an absolute obsession to learn the Michael Jackson Thriller dance. It is going to happen.
I have plenty of other little goals, and a few other goals that I won't write here. It's nice to have some perspective though! Life is just so exciting, I love how great each new day is.
Oh man, I'm one big cliche.
And just as a side note, I'd like to comment on the use of 'Facebook' as a verb, i.e. 'I was just facebooking God' or 'You facebooked me just as I called you!' I never did it until recently, when my friends encouraged this terrible habit. What say you, friends? Should we use 'facebook' as a verb? Is it better than 'raging' as my dad likes to say?

2009
I had a fABULOUS post planned rehashing the greatness of 2009, but it's late, and I'm tired and a bit full of champagne... So instead I wish you all a great New Year! I am off to Busselton in the morning for the Southbound music festival and general relaxation, so call me and tell me your stories =D
Love you all, Happy New Year and tell me your Resolutions! I only come up with mine after I've slept and it is therefore officially the first!
Love,
Emily x x x

Bargains!
Whilst I am not a stinge, I love a great bargain. They make me feel accomplished and complete, like I have achieved something great by buying an item for substantially less than it's original price. I come home from a shopping spree full of bargains and sales and great things and it's a better feeling than getting an HD in your hardest exam unit. Seriously.
I am going to share my bargains over the past three days, so you can understand how fabulous the recession is for people with disposable income like me. Not that the recession is in any way fabulous, in fact quite the opposite. But it does mean a lot more 50% off signs around the place, that warm my heart and encourage me to wear thin the magnetic tape on my debit card.
Saturday Bargains.
Saturday was hectic. In every sense of the word. Garden City was so full you sort of flowed through the shopping centre. I bought:
* Beautiful high heels from Forever New, that were $80 down to $40.
* A black bather top from Cotton On Body that was $20 down to $10
* Boardies that were colourful and also $20 down to $10
* Bikini ties that were $10 down to $3.
Yaaaaaaaay!
Sunday Bargains.
Brace yourself my friends. I covered two shopping centres in three and a half hours. I was on my own so I wasn't also accommodating for the shopping and change room time of another person, which isn't a problem at all but also means that you cover more shops in less time and thus buy more. It's a complex mathematical equation. Here are my super exciting purchases:
* A dress from Roads = $42.50 down to $19.80
* Brown flats x 2 at $5 each
* Red Sandals for $10
* Denim skirt = $40 down to $10
* Pandora Charm for Laura = $50 down to $40
* Cotton On Tanks = $5 each
* Shorts for $12
* Hat for $11, down from $18 (who pays $18 for a hat from Kmart? What a joke)
* Scarf for $25 (ridiculous for a scarf I know, but it was perfect! Perfect!!!)
* Chocolate $7 down to $2
I can't even remember the rest, it was so overwhelming. But I've never felt so accomplished before in my whole life. It was fantastic =D

I think this year was my favourite Christmas ever. Lots of new DVDs (without an apostrophe), and own luggage, and pretty things, and nice watches and CHOCOLATE. It was a lovely day. I wish Christmas didn't go by so fast, but it's nice having extended celebrations with your monkeysphere. It's a linguistics joke. Well, an evolution joke. I'll explain it another time - yay, suspense!
But now Christmas is all over, there a big plans and thoughts for 2009. I have rough ideas of what I want to do, but nothing set down to be achieved yet. So instead of sharing my plans (which I will when I've thought of them!) I will do this quiz...
2008 IS ALMOST OVER, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
Hook up with anyone?
HOO-OO-OO-OO-OOK HOOK ME UP!
Lost a friend?
Um... you know I don't think so. In some ways, but I think everything is settling into its rightful place.
Stayed single almost the whole year?
HAHAHHAHAHAHA there's the million dollar question for you.
Kissed anyone new?
Ew kissingggggggg =P
Worst memory?
Perhaps Collie... but other than that, nothing! It was a lovely year.
Had your heart broken?
Aww nahhhhh. My heart is made of steel and manliness.
Had a stalker?
Only a hundred of them.
Done something you've regretted?
I don't really regret things... Well I try not to. You can learn from everything so no need to regret it. Well, maybe I regret reading my books too fast.
Lost someone?
In a way...
Cut class?
Hahahha. I perhaps went to three Legal Process lectures all semester. I regularly skipped Politics and French. Who needs to go to class anyway. I had important things like coffee to attend to.
Were involved in something you'll never forget?
Uni? Hillsong Conference? An awesome bunch of friendships? Soul to Sole?
Visited a different country?
Um.. wow not this year! How strange...
Cooked a gross meal?
Not that I remember. I can hold my own in the kitchen... sort of.
Lost something important to you?
I lose everything, even things important to me. I don't remember in particular, but I have lost several pairs of prescription sunnies, a camera, my shoes, etc... but nothing super important.
Got a gift you adore?
Always =D I adore most gifts!
Dyed your hair?
No way. Oh the effort of regrowth!
Came close to losing your life?
not that i'm aware of.
Went to a party?
Oh man, when DIDN'T I go to a party.
Read a great book?
Sure. And at the risk of a lot of people hating me, Twilight wasn't one of them.
Saw one of your favorite bands / artists live?
I'm not one for fave bands/artists, but I haven't been to any concerts really this year... i am soon though!
Saw someone famous in person?

Yeah sure did.
Person you hated most?

I always feel like listing people is so silly and exclusive. I know who they are! And they're all close and special!
Did you grow apart from anyone?
Of course, stuff like that always happens.
Do you have any regrets when it comes to your friendships?
I freaking regret having them as my friends. Hate them all.

Did you have a cake?
It looked like a big present!
Did you have a party ?

2008: Wrap Up.
Was 2008 a good year?
Yes.
I am good at succinctly wrapping up!

Reasons to be exquisitely happy:
* Everyone is just so cool. Except Christmas shoppers.
* Target had a massive sale and I scored some seriously awesome bargains!
* I worked my last shift at Moo, and whilst that doesn't make me happy, sharing the experience with Kat, big sister extraordinaire and High School Musical cup provider, made me happy!
* I made my Christmas presents for the girls, and am one CD away from completely finishing up my Christmas shopping.
* M&Ms.
* Planning Christmas outfits!
* Practical new bags
* Watching Mamma Mia today. There is nothing like a bit of ABBA to put you in a fabulous mood.
* Pretty ribbon.
* My girls doing a FANTASTICALLY AMAZING job on Friday night with their dance! I am so so proud of them.
* Macs are fabulous
* Being healthy enough to be losing weight! Well... I'm not being healthy at all, but I'm being unhealthy in smaller amounts. For some reason, it's working
* Books from Good Sams for $6.50! And I got TWO books for $6.50! $3.25 each! I love bargains.
* Buy two get one free from the Miss Shop
* Summer scarves
* Clean teeth! Brushing my teeth always wakes me up and makes me feel clean
* My hair is long! I've wanted it long for so long (hehehe) and now it finally is!
* It is ALMOST Christmas and I think it is going to be a fun fun day.
* I am STILL sticking with flickr things! I love proving to myself I can stick with projects
* I have had some revelations about life lately that is making it easier to be comfortable and happy and stop second guessing everything.
* Plans! I love plans! Sometimes I hate plans. But lots of the time I love them!
* Kim is back from Europe and Ari will be back soon. It's lovely to see them again =D
* It's summer and summer means everything is happy. Yay!

Emily is a whinger
I'm a very naive person in a lot of ways. For example, I never knew the extent of devastation I could feel about taking the decisive action that I feel is the right one. I believed that if you do the right thing, then your pain will be minimal.
I never knew that I could cry every day for a week and a half straight and still not feel better. I just believed that one cry every three months could sustain you. Crying is the worst thing anyway.
I also had no idea that there are no lines, just a big mish-mash of grey space that you can't discern between being right and wrong. There's no black and white, just different actions you can take that lead to a different outcome.
I had no idea how not-independent I am.
I didn't know that different situations affect the extent to which the choices you make matter.
I also had no idea how freaking long my brother can pee for. He's been going for like half an hour.
Sorry for that mental picture.

Go High School Musical
I love this movie:

I'm having one of those 'oh' days. Where you feel a little bit detached and the only reaction to anything is 'oh'. Oh, I spilt coffee all over my shirt. Oh, I hung up on the head honcho of NAB. Oh, I forgot my lunch. Oh, I feel sad. Oh, it's already the 10th of December. Oh, dance. Oh, the newspapers and the water and the new biscuits. Oh, I cut my finger. Oh, I have a bruise.
Oh, I don't know.

And also...
Your rainbow is shaded green.
What is says about you: You are an intelligent person. You feel strong ties to nature and your mood changes with its cycles. Those around you admire your fresh outlook and vitality.
Find the colors of your rainbow at spacefem.com.

I'm kind of sad that my rainbow is so drab looking. At least it's green - I like green.
What an eventful week it has been. I'm overwhelmed! Perhaps in dot point form, I will share the important points:
* I completed my first full week of fulltime work. Insane I say. Insane! I researched carbon trading, filed like a maniac, opened letters like nobody's business and got my very own work email address. I'm a real office wench now!
* The Salty Celebration occurred - it was a fantastic night of fabulousness. The decorations were daggy, the costumes were daggier, the music was awesome, the people were cool and there was lots of food.
* I finished teaching the girls the all-time awesome dance, Bring It All Back. They're performing at Jump which is exciting, because it's going to be amazing. I love the look of super energy dancing, it takes the music to its full potential.
* I finished tutoring for the year! And I got a MASSIVE box bucket of M&Ms. It's awesome.
* CHRIS AND KLARA NOW HAVE THE SAME LAST NAME! It was such a beautiful wedding. I think they should do it again =P What an attractive married couple. Oh it was so beautiful! Everyone had pretty hair and pretty dresses and pretty shoes and pretty flowers and pretty photos and great food and pretty everything! (Hey Klara, if you read this, I had a little squeal party when i was tagging my photos on facebook and your name came up as Klara Donovan. Awesome)
* Real friends are the greatest things going.
Okay stuff everything else I was going to type. I just found the world's greatest blog.
Here is an example, it's not the best one but the shirt made me laugh:

Go here for more fun! The best part is the name: failblog.
here is an example: type how many children you have given birth to. again, a rough estimate is fine.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAA, best entertainment of my life

En Francais?
I had my first French lesson with Flo tonight, and it was the best thing ever. I've discovered I'm much better at speaking French whilst driving in my car with noone listening than when there are people around and I have to talk about something. But it was so exciting! She's going to teach me how to speak about music and politics and other great things in another language so I can sound smart. It's quite depressing that, (oh modesty) I'm smart in English but in French I just sound like an idiot.
And so, to fill in the time before bedtime...
FACT: About the person you fell hardest for?
I'm too awesome to fall for someone.
WHAT: Happened at 9:00 am today ?
Staff meeting. It was so boring.
-ARE YOU: Wearing something you borrowed from someone?
No, but my top was given to me by my second cousin? I guess that kind of counts. I indefinitely borrowed it.
WHAT:Is the last thing someone bought you?
I don't know hey. Breakfast?
WHAT'S: Your current problem?
A serious lack of time and sleep. And therefore I'll probably get wrinkles early and then everyone will hate me because I'll look old and ugly and then I'll die.
Nothing major.
SOMETHING: You say when you are mad?
I don't say anything, I just grind my teeth menacingly.
DO YOU: Delete people off of myspace?
No I rarely log on to myspace. Except to steal these things.
DO YOU: Crack your knuckles?
I'm physically incapable of it. I think it makes me less of a man. Besides the lack of testicles.
DID YOU: Cry at all today ?
Hahaha I had an angry cry at life. Then I got over it. I can't believe I admitted that.
ARE YOU: Ticklish?
*sigh*
WHO WAS: The last person you talked to last night before bed?
My mum. She came in and told me off for not eating my apple yesterday. We have a close bond.
DO YOU KNOW: Anyone with the same name as you?
There's a fair few Emilys in the world.
WHEN WAS: The last time you really laughed?
I dont know hey, actually maybs yesterday when Ali and I were rehearsing for Wednesday night. We're going to be awesome, be there or be not awesome.
Last movie watched?
Hairspray.
What was the last thing you said out loud?
No don't be stupid.
Who was the last person you talked to on the phone?
Je ne sais pas! Probably mum. Wow hello all my friends.
Are you afraid of the dark?
It depends on where I am and who I'm with.
What do you always take with you?
Phone, wallet, a key of some sort.
Has anyone put their arm around you in the past 5 days?
Yes yes.
Ever turned anyone down you shouldn' t have?
What an interesting question.
Do you like messages or comments better?
I take what I can get.
In the past week have you felt sad?
In a weird way yes.
Do you tell the last person you kissed that you love them on a regular basis ?
Haha the last person I kissed was one of the French people on the cheek. I don't even remember their name so I sure don't tell them I love them!
How do you know the last person you were in a car with?
I was in a car with myself. And before that... I was in a car with my Uncle! I know him because he is my uncle.
Where were you at 9:00 pm last night ?
Getting home from the dance dinner and sitting down at the dinner table.
Will you be up before 7am tomorrow?
I should be but I always sleep in and almost miss my bus.
Who did you last piss off?
Probably everyone at work for being lame and sitting around doing nothing.
What is your best friend's favorite food?
They all have different ones.
Who' s the funniest person you know?
Oh wow. I can't even pick.
Do you have your eye on anyone?
My eyes are on you.
Are you happy with your life at the moment?
Yeah, it's busy and exhausting, and ina lot of ways unrewarding, but at the same time it's exciting and different and hopefully things will keep changing.
What is something you disliked about your day?
The fact I sat around with nothing to do, I have no computer at work and the internet on the only free one was dead so noone gave me anything to do.
What are you listening to?
Dad.
Did you go outside for more than 30 minutes today?
I doubt it, I was in some kind of inside all day. It was such a lovely day too.
Did you see the person you like today?
oooOOOOooo
Anyone you would like to get things straight with?
I dunno. I suppose. Whatev.
Last sporting event you watched on TV?
Probably the football lol.
Are you sleepy?
I'm beyond sleepy. I'm about to pass out.
Do you have any career ideas yet?
Sure do.
Are you okay with abortion?
Nah not for me.
What shoes did you wear today?
My Lacoste flats. They make me feet smell disgusting.
Did you wake up in the middle of the night last night?
I had a weird sleep last night - it was like I was asleep and awake simultaneously it was so strange. So kind of but not really if you know what I mean.
When did you last talk to your number one?
I don't have a number one. Everyone's number one in my life.
What about your number two?
You're ghey.
What did you do today ?
Worked, tutored maths, had a French lesson, practiced my sax and filled this stupid thing out.
Has anyone of the opposite sex hurt you emotionally or physically?
Yeah why not.
Spell your name without an E, R, S, H, K, I, M, L, C, A, Y, N?
well I can't even write my first name, o zt
That's it. O zt. You took out all the important letters, I hate you.

I was thinking today about how odd the concept of manure is. I had to file all the manure receipts (so far there are two thousand of them for this year. Or two hundred. I forget) and I'm absolutely perplexed as to how that happened. Seriously. Who wants manure? Who thought 'hey, cows poo a lot, lets sell their poo as well as them!' Weird.
In other news, I bought an awesome $40 dress to wear out to exciting upcoming functions which are... well, coming up. And it is the weekend as of right now! Yay! There's a big girls night out tonight, but I'm way to knackered. So I'm staying home and having dinner with my deaf granddad who can't speak English well. It's a good tradeoff I think. You know what else is a good tradeoff? Chinese takeaway.
I should stop wasting precious (hmm...probs the wrong word) (I've started saying probs) (And maybs) (How embarrassing is that? Where do I get such a terrible vocabulary from? My stupid brain obviously. Whatev) ...what was I saying? Oh yeah, internet space, on such ridiculous ramblings.
Ce weekend, je vais aller a Rottnest, et a la pique nique pour le Moo. Aussi, aujord'hui j'ai achete un cadeau pour moi, pour mon frere et pour mon 'christmas cringle', dit Flo. Yay!

Noises.
I'm always worried I don't have a story. I love people, and I love talking, and I love telling stories. But no matter what, I'm still afraid that people iwll hate my stories and that I'm lame and boring and really just an invisible bland person with nothing to say. I still tell stories because it's more likely people will think that of me if I say nothing. But what if my stories are really bad???
Well, I have lots of stories for you friends. They're al terrible Emily stories, but they're still stories.
Salty Weekend was a real experience. But that's a story not for the internet.
Perhaps I'll tell you a story about office sounds. The sounds of our office are a bit like this:
RINGRINGRINGRINGRINGrunrunrun'WellardGroupReneeSpeaking' Emily can you open the mail Emily can you file this for me? Ringring ring ring*coffee machine whirrs really freaking loudly* ring ring ring Run this down to livestock Print me five labels and eight envelopes and photocopy this six times Ring ring ring ring run this down to livestock can you get this delivered to Perth in the next five minutes it's really important Emily I have more filing for you Emily are you busy can you go get the mail Ring ring ring ring ring Renee where's my coffee ring ring ring *printer and computer breaks down* Renee you bound these in the wrong order we hate you ring ring ring ring ring *office gossip oh no way she did not he did not oh drama drama office gossip whisper whisper* ring ring ring ring ring ring RENEE YOU LEFT THE CORDLESS IN MY OFFICE Emily I have more filing?
The end. There's more but I forget them. Lots of them include really heavy footsteps that the men have. Men walk really loudly I have noticed.
These are the sounds of Moo:
Can I have a mini moo no a maxi moo umm maybe i'll get a small is that a small tub? oh yeah the takeaway oh no the cup thing yeah can i get a spoon? i can try mango? And passionfruit? And cherry? And Mixed Berry? Oh look I'll take a mini of the cappuccino do you want the thirty cents? yeah sure if you have it Oh so is this yoghurt? yes it is yoghurt does it have milk in it? no it's milkfree ARE YOU STUPID OF COURSE IT HAS MILK IN IT *whooooosh* as the till opens yoghurt squelches on the floor wash dishes AHH THE WATER JUST BURNT AWAY ALL OF MY SKIN crash when Emily drops all the spoons on the floor Ah well more bacteria won't hurt them Excuse me can I have some honeycombe with my frozen yoghurt? Can I have more berries/ Add some extra crunch please, less yoghurt.
Customers are so smart. I'm in awe of their awesome minds.
Here is something I learnt today. There are too many people to try keep happy, but I keep trying to keep them all happy anyway! Emily is a fool.
I miss social interaction.

Thursdays after four o'clock
Yes, I know today is Wednesday. But I was contemplating tomorrow. I have always felt a bit weird about Thursdays. They try to make it sound good, by including things like late night shopping, and tomorrow is Friday, the start of the weekend! But really, Thursdays are a bit of a crap day.
At school, they meant double politics and double chemistry. At uni, they've meant the day from tutorial hell. At work they mean you have to deal with grumpy customers and stupid school kids who want tastings. Tomorrow, it means two exams.
TWO EXAMS! But then, the positive thing is, after 4:10 - no more exams! I will be finished! I can do fun things like pack for Salty weekend, and sleep without dislocating my jaw. I can throw away all my full notebooks with notes from this semester, and put all my books in my cupboard and never look at them again! I love Thursday after four o'clock.

I have so much i want to say that I can't even articulate it. So I'm doing a stupid quiz instead.
Think of the person you'd like to be with the most right now, when did you last talk to them?
I'd like to be with any person right now. Studying all day is lonely business. And I haven't had verbal contact with anyone since yesterday. Lame!
When's the last time you did something you knew was wrong?
Um... right now? It's wrong for me to be wasting time when I have two exams on Thursday? Whatev!
Last three texts in your phone are from:
Kat, Stefan, Mum.
What are you doing right now?
Uh, this thing! And trying to find some good songs for dance next year, and I've not done too badly! I refuse to choreograph contemporary, which limits things, but it's surprising what's out there.
You can only drink ONE liquid for the rest of your life, what is it?
Coffee. Macchiatos to be precise.
Is there something that reminds you of someone every time you see / hear it?
Lots of songs I hear remind me of certain people/times.
Do you trust all of your friends?
Nah, I don't tell lots of people stuff. It's not that I dont think they could be trustworthy, but no point tempting fate!
Do you think you can last in a relationship for three months?
Hahah I suppose. Three months! What a lifetime! =P
Have you ever had a best friend who was of the opposite sex?
Sure do! Changes your perspective in some ways.
Have you ever been nice to someone who treated you like crap?
Of course, it's a lot of effort if you both treat each other like crap.
Are you anything like you were at this point last year?
In some ways, changed a lot in others.
Have you lost contact with someone you wish you didn't?
Yeah I have. But you know, everything goes through phases and things seem to end up how they should be. I'll be in touch with them soon =D
Do you judge people you don't know?
Hahah I'm so bad with this one. You're not really supposed to. But like... it's pretty hard not to help it. For example, if I am in Freo late at night, I usually label a lot of people 'skanks'. Or 'manwhores'. Or if I see an old couple at the shops, I think 'aw lovely'. Who knows, they could've been drug dealers when they were younger.
When was the last time you felt like your heart was actually breaking?
I don't go in for mega emotion. Nah just kidding =D Um, I don't know. I actually don't think I've felt that one to be honest. Thank goodness for that!
What is one thing you feel that you NEED in life?
Thumbs.
In the past week have you cried?
I had a teary moment =P I'm in the middle of exam stress, that's my excuse! Everything gets on your nerves at this time. My poor family.
Dark hair or light hair on the opposite sex?
Doesn't bother me really, as long as it's not like, purple or something.
Who are your favorite people to talk to when you’re down?
I dunno! there's a few people out there who clear things up for me.
Is there someone you will never forget?
Sure is. I know I'm supposed to say, but I don't want to. But I'll never forget them.
Whats the last thing in your house you broke?
The microwave. I fixed it but! Oh and the shower. That's such a pain.
Have you ever ran away?
Nope!
Ever been attacked by a dog?
Haha no way. Been afraid of it though, there's some seriously scary looking dogs out there.
Doing anything tonight?
French/Linguistics study, sleep. Coloured pens.
Ever been so anxious or overwhelmed that it felt like you couldn't breathe?
Hm... not really. My stress manifests itself through clenched teeth. I end up with my teeth practically welded together, it's pretty lame. Makes it way more difficult to eat.
What do you think it would be like if you had a twin?
It'd be awesome =D We need more rangas in the world, I hear we're a dying breed =[
Do you know anyone else's password to their xanga, email, myspace, etc?
No. Why would I need to know that?
Do you have a box where you keep all your really important things, like notes?
Oh I have like a gazillion. My room is the box where I keep really important things, I'm a bit of a hoarder.
Are you frustrated with a female?
Sure.
Are you frustrated with a male?
Sure.
Honestly, do you like anyone?
Honestly, I like everyone.
Last night you felt?
Exhausted.
Do you like to text?
Why not, it's fun to send out weird messags to people. Keeps me occupied whilst at work.
Do you like to talk on the phone?
ahhhhhh depends on who to, it can make me feel really awkward but. I hate thinking other people are listening.
What was the last drink you had?
Milo.
When was the last time you were truly, completely happy with your life?
Last week.
Have you read a whole book in a day?
Sure thing - yay Harry Potter.
How old will you turn in 2009?
19. Weird! I keep thinking I'm still fifteen.
When was the last time you talked to number 1 on your top friends?
Sunday.
What were you doing at 4am this morning?
Sleeping with the happy thought of no more looming politics exams.
Whats your relationship with the person you last texted?
She's my faux big sister.
What did you do today?
Studied. Ate. Studied. Read. Studied. Did internet things.
Where are your siblings?
He's at school. Probably farting.
When is the last time you really cried?
Oh aaaages ago.
Did the one person who hurt you the most in your life apologize?
Don't know who that'd be!
Do you still talk to the person you fell hardest/fastest for?
Yar.
Where was the last place you slept besides your bed?
Um... my other bed.
What were your first thoughts this morning?
AHHHHHHHHHHH.
Are you a jealous person?
Unfortunately yes, but I'm working on it.
When was the last time you slept on the floor?
NEVER
Is your phone close to you?
Next to me. I'm hoping for distractions.
Are you keeping a secret from someone who needs to know the truth?
Yeah, but like. Boring.
Have you ever hated someone and ended up being friends with them?
Haha I don't tend to hate people, but people change and you end up being friends with people you wouldn't think you would be.
What is the last thing you spent money on?
Dance lesson.
Do you get along with girls?
Yes yes of course.

How To Procrastinate:
Step 1. Have a fabulous book that is completely unrelated to what you should be studying. I, for example, am reading Harry Potter (the entire series for perhaps the one hundredth time), and I have heard the Twilight series to be just as effective. Hot vampires are a fabulous distraction. Read it when you should be studying. Read it when you should be sleeping. Then sleep when you should be studying.
Step 2. Fix notes instead of reading them. This is a highly effective method, as it makes you feel like you're being productive, but really you're just doing some copy and paste, a bit of rearranging, some fixing of typos and really just wasting time. Don't forget to change font colour, add some margins and borders and maybe try out some different word-art titles.
Step 3. Watch movies. Movies are fabulous as a 'reward' for studying. Also as a timer - I will start studying when this movie finishes. When it does, put another movie in. You meant the movie after the first movie anyway.
Step 4. Socialize. Make sure on the weekend before your exam, you have plenty of plans. Like going out for lunch. And dinner. And a drive. Every night.
Step 5. Have the internet, with Facebook, Myspace, MSN and a blog. All open at the same time. You're on the computer! It has to be productive!
Step 6. Write To-Do lists. Add things you've already done and cross them off. Make sure you write 'Write a to-do list' as number one on your list. Once you've done task one, you can take a break. Handy.
Step 7. Think of the other insignificant projects you are meant to have done. Like cleaning out your old notes. Or reordering your jewelry. Taking some photos. Painting your toenails. Oh, and finding that old note you wrote to remind you about something that you forgot. That's way more important than study.
Step 8. Write a blog post on how to procrastinate. At 11:30pm at night, when you were going to go to bed early to get up early to study the next morning. Yup. Fail.

Poetry
The thing I miss most about school is being forced to read outside my comfort zone.
I know a lot of people are big on reading 'Christian books', which I do think is important. However, I find them often limited, repetitive, not entirely well-written and either trying too hard to be cool and awesome, or completely inaccessible. Of course I haven't read every 'Christian book', and there are, as always, a few exceptions. But there are just so many amazing texts out there that when you're at uni, you miss out on hearing about unless you're doing English.
My favourite text we studied was T.S. Eliot's poetry. It was just beautiful in a really scary kind of way.
From The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock
Do I dare
Disturb the universe?
In a minute there is time
For decisions and revisions which a minute will reverse.
For I have known them all already, known them all:—
Have known the evenings, mornings, afternoons,
I have measured out my life with coffee spoons;
I know the voices dying with a dying fall
Beneath the music from a farther room.
So how should I presume?
...
And would it have been worth it, after all,
Would it have been worth while,
After the sunsets and the dooryards and the sprinkled streets,
After the novels, after the teacups, after the skirts that trail along the floor—
And this, and so much more?—
And from Preludes:
His soul stretched tight across the skies
That fade behind a city block,
Or trampled by insistent feet
At four and five and six o'clock;
And short square fingers stuffing pipes,
And evening newspapers, and eyes
Assured of certain certainties,
The conscience of a blackened street
Impatient to assume the world.
How beautiful is that? I lost my Eliot anthology, which is a bit of a shame because I wanted to read some of his post-conversion poetry. Anyway, it just reminds me constantly to stop being lame and filling my head with crap. Of course, Harry Potter doesn't count as crap.

emily is being lame today
Sometimes life just does things you don't expect it to, and even weirder, sometimes you do things you didn't expect to.
Perhaps an example would work here; whilst I stuff up many things, and make more mistakes than is humanly possible to comprehend, I don't screw up exams. I don't screw up my timing, I get everything down, I feel confident with how I do, no matter what I say, and I never doubt my ability to do well in an exam situation. But today, everything felt off. I hadn't fully prepared, I was a bit iffy on a few areas of law, I was nervous, overtired and a little down. And I went in, screwed up the timing, spent forty five minutes on a ten mark question and left myself thirty minutes for a twenty five mark question. I could not comprehend how that happens. I never get my timing off in an exam. I never have to rush through questions. I ended up doing something I didn't expect to, and as I result I'm overly confused.
This weekend has been full of these strange experiences where I don't understand what has happened, and completely didn't expect any of it. I've felt all these emotions that don't regularly crop up in my life, and if they do, I am good at putting them aside and pushing through. Things like anxiety and sadness, stress and confusion, uncertainty and loss. I feel like an emo kid, those people who are always sad about something, and that frustrates me more cos I can't stand that type of life. But this will pass of course.
There are a few things that are beyond me; how to deal with certain things, how to not expect much but give lots, how to expect a lot but appreciate when it doesn't turn out, how to stay focussed and not burn out, how to know for certain something is right. These are just some examples, I could say so much more. I wish I knew how to say the right thing, or be the strong person who could understand and lift people up from how they're feeling and what they're doing. Maybe one day it will all come to me, I always hope that as I get older I'll get wiser and more able to understand and be compassionate. Hopefully it's coming, cos I'm not doing too well on that front right now.
I have learnt some things though; be patient. Don't be upset if you fail, keep trying. Keep rational thoughts close at hand. Keep people you love close at hand. Do your all to make sure they're happy. Do what you say you will do. Be willing to change and adapt, and not be the best. And most of all, love properly, because otherwise there is nothing left.

life is exciting!
My posts are always the same, but I don't care - life is usually exciting!
Reasons why (this time):
1. It's Friday. Friday has so much potential for great days ahead!
2. Obama is the new President! I still want to type 'our' new President, but unfortunately no - however he did mention us in his speech, the forgotten corners of the earth. What a great man.
3. Kat and Andrew are engaged! In case you've been living under a rock.
4. Two weeks and exams are over!
5. Ali's house is nearly finished - I'll miss having a friend to play Boggle with at 11 at night, but it'll be nice to see new floors in their house.
6. Work doesn't suck so bad!
7. Plans to do things and go places are coming to fruition.... or getting to the stage where I can make them come to fruition!
8. There is a new Dome in Fremantle and I love it.
9. I've nearly finished choreographing the younger girls' dance, which is awesome if I do say so myself. Shame we don't have enough time to teach it all. Oh well!
10. Day Light Saving is awesome.

a good weekend
* Day One of work was very successful! I met new people, found out that filing just involves putting most things under 'W' and discovered that Friday is 'free dress day' so there was no need to invest in my lovely new office clothes. Oh well.
* Boggle Time at night involved some hardkore action against Mum and Ali. I am proud to say I have not lost my touch, and was the overall winner! That was exciting. It was also nice to have a non-stressful night at home, of chocolate and good word games.
* Productive Saturday meant I finished my assignments(!!), went for a bike ride, finished Harry Potter, relaxed and saw Burn After Reading. Can't say it was my favourite movie, it was quite (incredibly) weird. I'll tell you about it. It meant nothing. There was a gym, some love stories, a bit of internet dating, lots of killing, a spastic weirdo who was writing his memoirs, lots of infidelity and the CIA. Brad Pitt was the highlight, and not just because he is very nice to look at, but his character made me want to give him a big hug.
* Infants! I have started helping mum with the infants as of this morning, and they are SO CUTE! I wanted to hug them all, Zara has the most beautiful disposition, Eve is the most curious baby I've ever seen and Leah had MASSIVE EYES. It was enjoyable playing with them too. I forgot how much fun piles of colourful toys can be.
* Dance Rehearsal Our Concert (!) is on Saturday, so we have been rehearsing hard. Our dance is finished and very nice, it even makes me feel a little worn out. I always like that. It means it's a real dance.
* Moo Picnic I also made some French friends today! It was a Moo picnic, and I actually knew Flo, Karaine and Nicole. Then Karaine left, and Nicole and her boyfriend went for a walk. So I decided to make friends with the French people. They were very lovely, and I could understand some of what they said. They tried to teach me this weird stick game, but I sucked, so we played dodgeball instead. It was lovely.
* Bad times Tutoring seemed to screw up my weekend for reasons I won't go into. I just hate pointless, hour-long round trips and people who aren't cooperative.
* MP3 Michelle brought us strawberries! Laura got time off!
* Church Yeah. It was churchy.
The end =]

work clothes
I begin my new job as ultimate office wench on Friday, and it is all very exciting. No yoghurt, boring office jobs, coffee runs, being paid again...
And then I realized, I'm going to need work clothes.
Like, monochrome, boring, tailored, nice-shoes work clothes.
I now have a few dilemmas. Am I allowed to wear colour? How much colour? Is bright green going a bit too far? Do my shoes have to have heels on them? Am I allowed a ponytail? Do I need to wear that bright red office lipstick????? What actually differentiates between work clothes and normal clothes and going out clothes?
It was very easy whilst working in a Yoghurt Shop. Massive red shirt with 'Moo' and a cow on it = work clothes. Definitely not normal clothes, or going out clothes. And gross old sneakers with berry stains and yoghurt blotches were definitely work shoes, and not normal shoes or going out shoes. (Although I do wear them out occasionally, but that's our secret). Office wench jobs aren't so clearcut. I get the feeling a big red shirt with moo and a cow don't really work as office wench clothes. Nor does a red visor with Moo. Might be a bit of an overkill.
Oh well. It is an adventure. Maybe I'll be rebellious and wear hooker heels.

Tuesdays off
I have Tuesdays off uni, work and life in general. It is fantastic.
Today I slept in, went to the gym, read Harry Potter #3 (for maybe the eighteenth time), went to the beach, played a bit of Mario Kart and (wait for it) made dinner!
Although it does get a bit boring being at home. There were projects I could've done, like Linguistics assignments, criminal law notes, politics readings or French study... but I think they're overrated.
I'm thinking of picking up Psychology next year... anyone have any ideas? I'm a bit apprehensive; like I really want to do it, but I have no real idea of what it would entail.
Ali and I have been discussing opening an Etsy store, just so we have an excuse to be creative over the holidays. That will be fun =]
I love the beach.
MANGOS ARE BACK! Life has meaning and beauty again!
Anyway... procrastination over, it's time to go and do my assignments. *has a cry*

microcosms of life
It's really easy to have high expectations of people, and assume they're always going to be awesome and amazing, when really, that's impossible. Or you'll start something new, thinking everyone will be different to what you're used to, or something. But EVERYWHERE YOU GO, people are the same! I think that's really fascinating.
This popped into my head last night when I was at my (new and super cheap!) dance class. It's really easy to think that by doing a class such as dance, where all you really do is follow the teacher and get fit and have fun, you wouldn't encounter the typical cross-section of people. Especially when, as it's an 'adult class', most of the women are in their late thirties/early forties, and you're eighteen. BUT I WAS WRONG!
There were two guys; one was very decidedly gay (surprise surprise in a modern/tap class, I know), and one was tall, a bit gangly, had red hair and was marginally uncoordinated. There were no cooley guys, but that is most definitely NOT to be expected in a dance class. So I felt a little bit safer. Moving on, there were the majority of people who were there to learn to dance and be fit and healthy and follow the teacher (normal right? most people choose to just blend in, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as long as you're confident in who you are). Then, there was the dance class equivalent of the 'cool group'. Ironic cos they were about thirty five. You'd think by then cool groups don't exist. But I have learnt that in fact, cool groups will never not exist! Maybe when you're eighty? Oh well, that's a while away. Moving along. There was the 'cool group', and they were the ones who thought they were the best, and stood up the front, and laughed with the teacher, and bossed everyone around. I got told what group to go in, how to do something and where to stand, and they don't even know my name. It made me giggle.
THEN, there was the loud jokey person, who isn't very good at what they're doing, but try hard and make jokes from the back, where they can't be seen, and people like them because a) they try their best and b) everyone's better than them. Then, there was an old lady (who was just adorable, she's seventy) who is absolutely terrible but tries really hard, and even so doesn't really care, just makes lots of noise with her shoes and pretends she's doing it right. And then there was the young crowd that are like 'I too awesome for the cool group, I am different and alternative, just like the rest of my friends'.
And then there was me! The observer.
Anyway, there was only twenty people or so there, so I couldn't cover ever group, like the nerdy people (no one is nerdy and does dance class, they don't mesh well), or I don't know... people who like Star Wars. Or Star Trek. which one is the cult one? Or are they both cult ones?
Hmm. Curious.
Anyway, that was not about anything important, but I've noticed it more and more in uni/church/dance/etc... strange strange.
And to leave on something I've been thinking about since Carl Barron mentioned it on Good News Week last night, 'Who decides at a chicken farm if a chicken is going to be chicken salt or just a regular chicken?'

whatever
I like big and exciting plans for the future. I like thinking of potential things to do, places to go, people to meet. But I also like to keep things in perspective.
This summer I have many crazy plans; I want to play the saxophone, I want to make things, work lots, save lots, plan a holiday to Europe, go to the gym all the time, spend hours at the beach and enjoy being home. I want to go places, meet new people and work out my uni course. I don't want to be pressured to change those things unless they need to. I am a flexible person, and I love my friends more than anything, but they don't get to change the carefully laid plans I have for my holidays and the foreseeable future, unless a) there's a good reason, and b) there is time and space to move. I love spontaneity as much as the next person, but when it expands to become a million different activities and ideas that are impossible to afford, organize and properly participate in, it just gets frustrating. And when it means that you become the bad guy for saying no, that is even lamer.
That's my whinge for now.
On a completely unrelated topic, today I walked ten k. It was long, and painful for my back and knees. But it was highly exhilarating. And the beach is the answer to all your problems! Everything is simplified at the beach. AMEN!

Boggle and other boggling things
When you hear deep quotes like 'find some light and shade in your voice', you know the world is going to crap.
Well, not really. I'm sure that's really deep if you sing or something, and the world isn't really going to crap. It's just getting crazier and crazier out there.
The stock market has chucked a big sad, and some people have lost hundreds of millions of dollars. Although the stock market is something I've never quite wrapped my head around. I do understand the process, and the buying and selling of course (I pride myself on understanding fundamentals...kind of), however, it's the whole concept. Like - that value isn't a real value per se. It's just what everyone thinks is the value. And then they think it'll be less, so it becomes less. But what if it isn't actually less? People thought it is, so it becomes that way, regardless of whether it is or not.
That, my friends, is messed up. Weird that it makes the world go round, and makes the world stop when it suddenly doesn't work. Weird weird weird.
My brother has returned home, which makes me very happy. He is a cool cat, and he made us nachos for dinner tonight. They were very commendable nachos too.
He's currently telling me that he is the next Einstein, because he had a dream about the three laws of something that he looked at for fifteen years, then he realized he could invent a ball with rings around it, then made it spin, and then the wire coming out of the ball, causing electricity to come. I think I should patent this idea so if he does create it, then I can get the money for it. Is that how patents work? I think so. Anyway, he is eating his nachos again, so I'll move on with what else I was saying. Weird boy.
I've been thinking a lot about what defines a person lately too. The thing is, I think what I tell people defines myself a lot better than my actions do, despite, as Relient K so musically puts it, that 'actions speak louder than words.' I'm pretty sure they didn't say it first, but that song popped into my head just now so I threw it in so i could be cool and refer to bands like all the cool kids do.
ANYWAY.
I've found I can create a world for myself that I show other people, and tell other people about, and that defines me to them. And then, I can construct a different world for other people, and that becomes my definition to them. Isn't that weird? But no matter what, they don't know what's going on at the centre of my actual world. So what is it that defines me after all that? I'm kind of talking hypothetically here, although I do carry this out in some form. Am I the smart person who does well in French, the nice person that picks up someone's dropped bag/key/money, the rude person that pushes someone out of the way on the train because there is so much room behind them that they're hogging.... you know? It perplexes me.
Anyway, enough with all this serious stuff... I could go on forever, but I don't think my ramblings are particularly interesting. Much more interesting is my red-bag purchase today, at a nice $15 =D And the potential Boggle-playing in the near future! I LOVE Boggle!

because i'm lame...
I'm filling one of these out.
Are there any stressful situations in your life?
Yar..nar.. whatev!
Name three facts about the last person who last texted you?
1) he is a fireman
2) he has an iphone
3) he is going to be thirty soon...if you call two years soon.
What's the last thing you ate?
spiced up pasta
Can you sleep in jeans?
Well, I'm capable of it. It's not my fave.
What is something you just don’t understand?
Toes. Why are they just so freaking ugly?
Who was the last person you were in a car with except for family?
Nathannnnnnnn. He took me to work.
Is there someone on your mind that shouldn't be?
Uh. Why would someone not be allowed to be on my mind? Or in my mind? Currently I am thinking of food. It's always allowed to be on my mind!
Do you think a lot of people think bad things about you?
It's always escaped me why people would think at all about me. But if they do, I suppose they'll be thinking bad things.
SHUT THE HELL UP STUPID FIRE ALARM.
How late did you stay up last night?
Not so bad. I'm improving =D
Hair color?
RANGAAAAAA
Eye color?
eye-y
Do you wear contacts/glasses?
I do! I have four pairs of glasses and counting =]
What books are you reading?
Road to Paradise.
(Not as ghey as it sounds.) And that's all. I need some more! Any suggestions?
Favorite movie?
right now, The Duchess. It usually is the movie I saw last.
What were you doing before filling this out?
Going to IGA to buy cream and sugar. Even though they are meant to close at eight, they were shut at ten minutes to. I FELT SO BETRAYED!
Any pets?
mais non! je n'ai pas d'animaux!
Favorite flower?
Daisies =] or roses. Or... most of them! Except those ugly paper looking ones.
Who would you like to see right now?
attractive toes.
Do you like to travel by plane?
Doesn't bother me. I'm usually too excited for where the plane is taking me to care!
Right-handed or Left-handed?
rright right right.
Do you miss some one ?
Yeah, nah. I don't miss anyone, I know just where they are =]
Are you hiding something from someone?
Mmmmaaybe!
Who was the last person you watched a movie with?
LIZZII!
Do you think your wasting your time on the person you like?
heck yeah, stupid timewaster =P
Last person you hugged?
Mum. I dont know why, she was forcing me to go to the shops.
When was the last time you saw number 6 on your top friends?
Who cares. I don't think I have top friends on myspace. I forgot how it works.
Which of your friends lives closest to you?
Ooo that's a hard one! All the close close ones like Lindsay and Brooke have moved, and after that I'd say they're all quite evenly close-but-far-away if you know what I mean.
Do you believe ex's can be friends?
yeah. of course. Just don't be lazy.
Was yesterday better than today?
They were both pleasant in their own special way!
Can you live a day without TV?
Sure can.
Are you happier single or in a relationship?
I'm' just happy. Everything else is incidental.

therapeutic things to do
* Clean out your wallet. I am the worst person for keeping every single thing that comes my way - from concert tickets to (eight million) ATM receipts. My wallet was SO FAT, to the point where I couldn't even find the money in it. In fact, I had more slips of paper than I had the value of money. So, I cleaned it out. It felt so lovely!
* Put all the crap that accumulates on your floor away. I don't know about anyone else, but I have this thing where if I get asked to put something away, or need to put something away, I take it to the respective room, and leave it on the floor. I swear it's a mental disease. But I tripped over about eight different things in order to get to my desk today, so I decided it was time to give it a makeover. I even found clean patches of carpet!
* Reading! I have read so many things in the past few days. Some have been fabulous, such as The Girl In Times Square by Paullina Simons, some not so much, such as Twilight by Stephanie Meyers (DON'T READ IT! SAVE YOURSELF!) It makes me happy. I love immersing myself in someone else's life.
* Take photos. This Flickr project has been so much fun looking for little things to capture in daily life.
* Apprends le Francais. Tous le jours, je trouve la plus choses fantastiques dans la langue, et je le parle quelquefois. Aussi, je peux lire le signs que je trouve here and there. Yay for franglais!
* Handing in assignments. I love the feeling of dropping something into the assignment box, and knowing it is all over!
* Drinking water and tea. I don't know what it is about these two liquids, but it feels so wonderful to have a glass/cup of them!
* Painting your toenails. Totally frivolous, but totally therapeutic at the same time.
* Finding fabulous new shoes to buy. Best feeling in the world.
* Moisturising. What more can I say?

If you like to laugh at the ridiculous nature of some High Court matters (which I'm sure you all do... well... fine maybe it's just me), go here.
People I tell you!
This weather is totally freaking me out. I can't take it anymore!
My cousin, Xavier is here. And he's also freaking me out. He is playing Mario Kart on Wii with my brother, but insists on being Princess Peach. With the car with wings. Because it's pink and looks like a fairy. Just to clarify, he is four and decidedly a boy. I'm concerned.
